Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

How can I kill the Rat God using the support beams? Blowing them up?

I read that somewhere here, but never tried it. I think there are 2 different broken support beams, so I don't know which one might collapse and kill the Rat God.

No idea why anyone would do this anyway. Where to get the extra explosives so you can still have one to get through the door to find the car parts?

Seems we should be able to do something else to break the support beams and kill the rat, but just my opinion.

That battle was never so tough, unless Sulik decides to just stand there and watch me get clawed to death!

Yes, just drop one explosive in front of one of the 4 support beams (the ones you get a hand icon with). Just one explosive is needed, it starts a chain reaction with rocks crashing down trapping the giant rat. Don't forget to pick up the gun and the car part before you do this tough, cause the way there will be blocked.

@ Morticia

What if you don't have Sulik with you, and the door can be opened fairly easy with the lock pick skill. Besides even if you don't want to do it that way it's always nice with alternatives.

Cheers

Thanks Darek, I always thought that door was impossible to pick. I thought Per's guide said that (?) so will have to check... Yep, you're right. Only 70% lockpick required. Must have been thinking Temple of Trials.

Do you still get the 300xp for killing the rat god, and will the quest be checked off if he is just trapped? And can you still get the $109 from the bones near where he sits? If I have to get that close to get the money, I'd prolly end up fighting him anyway(?)

Nice to know about the path to the car part being blocked also, as that would really suk.

Better check my gear again...

But I think you have some kind of auto-pilot...
"1- This aircraft has only enough fuel for a complete round trip flight from the Navarro outpost, to the docking rig, and back again.
All procedures are fully automated and thus no intervention by crew members is needed.
" You just need the Yellow Reactor Keycard from chrased vertibirid and 2 -align the satellites to fly to the Oil Rig.

Just to "unconfuse" other...

1- from data\Text\English\Dialog\civerti.msg

2- from data\Text\English\Dialog\cisactrl.msg

@ Morticia
70% lockpick is not required, just recommended. It's possible to do it with less, but you're more likely to fail and jam the lock then.
IIRC you get 600xp for trapping the rat and it will be crossed out in the quest list. You will most likely lose out on the money, but with enough AP to outrun Keeng Raat you can lure him out from his nest, then get the money.

@ Touquet

I did post info from those texts earlier in this thread. The problem is that we don't know how to get those dialogs in the game.

cheers

I'll have to try this (and write something about it) then. At that stage of the game, double xp is worth more than $109.

...as long as I can still get the free pistol and the car part! :)

I'm on it now... have some thing to look; perhaps when you have the GECK, complete all the main quest and all you have to do is to go to the Oil Rig.
What you think?
Because the intel about the vertibird tell that way -->This aircraft has only enough fuel for a complete round trip flight from the Navarro outpost, to the docking rig, and back again.

Don't waste your time.

I've talked to every Person in Navarro and used every single computer, with Science/Speech both at 150%.
Having the Geek with me and without it.
It makes no difference.
Even shooting them all won't change anything.

Since no one did it so far, i don't think this is working yet.

On page 9. 'wolfsrain' wrote about the same problem with Fannie in Redding that I am having now.

I don't even get the last bit of info though: "as long as you give her the money for her daily fix...And she always tried to get more money from you, with some sad stories...." Fannie doesn't ask me for any money.

Examining and talking to her gives no clue that she has any addiction or problem at all. Lou doesn't say anything but that I should talk to Fannie.

Killap wrote that "something else is needed", so I tried using a first aid kit and doctor bag, which did nothing. I tried raising my doctor skills to 100% in case that needed to be high in order to notice she has a problem, that didn't work either.

I can't find anyone else that will tell me she is addicted. I tried carrying some jet in an item slot and even used it on her twice to get some reaction. Nothing.

Do I need to have the jet addiction cure with me first? If so, where is the clue that I might ever be able to use it on her?

@ Morticia

I think killap was referring to the jet antidote.

Fannie asking for money comes up after you sleep with her, which only male characters can do.

After you've given her money once, you can talk to Lou about Fannies jet problem. If you choose the -"What do you mean?" line, you get the option for Lou to slip the antidote in Fannies drink for 1000xp. Or you can just use the antidote on her yourself, also 1000xp. The last option works for female characters as well, but how they are supposed to know about the jet addiction in the first place is beyond me.

To make Fannie od, just give her money a few times and she will disappear from the map. Lou won't be happy.
This seems to be possible for males only.

cheers

What was I trying to say it's that in the normal game, or with only the killap patch, Fannie would sleep with any character. It didn't matter the gender. And she was having some sad story in her bag, just trying to impress you, to give her some money, that she will actually use for jet. Lou it's the one who is giving a warning about what she's doing.

With a female character (cheating with an 'all 10s' super character) I get no info from Lou or Fannie about any problems, nor does anyone else in town say anything about her jet addiction.

Fannie has 2 x 2 dialogue options. Lou has many more, so I'll have to go back and see if I missed anything.

I'm sure I can figure out how much jet it takes to kill her. I just wanted to see if I could get some xp for helping her. Not trying now since Darek mentioned it might not be possible for a female character, but any info would be helpful.

Redding Female character:

You CAN save Fannie if you use jet antidote on her, but I could not manage to get any information on her being a jet addict from Lou, nor could I get Lou to cure Fannie.

It's the "make Fannie overdose" part I think is impossible as a female character.

Cheers

Care to elaborate?

Also, there is the vertibird option.

He killed Badger and the Emperor before getting fuel for the tanker.
Plus he didn't ask Dave what brought him down from Canada. You only get one chance to do so, and can therefore not get the Vikki dialog, so Dave will not help get the oil.

No one can figure it out.

Indeed to both of those!!

@ killap

As Atari wrote, we can "trigger" how to use the veribird... strange :(
I've done all the quest, all I have is to go the the Oil Rig but I can realing the satellite or use the vertibird.

@Reikis

I just hacked the shi computer and moved fuel to the tanker.(can't quite remember which computer I used, but it is possible to do it that way) :D
additional: its been a while since I've played (I'm waiting for killap's 1.2 restoration) but it might have been the hubologists computer that I hacked. I know it is possible to hack a computer in San Fran, I just cant remember which one.
Also, on the tanker, after you save the female in the hold, go to the entry level, and just a little ne of the tanker entry you will see a man standing by a computer in a small room. He will be grateful because you saved his girl friend and you can then get him to hack into the computer to get the fuel. You have to wait a couple of days though.
I just can't wait to replay this with all of Killap's fixes. I've been reading all of these posts and it looks like its going to be more fun this time around.
All hail Killap!!!!!

The shi computer terminals don't function after you have killed the Emperor and the mainframe is eh... dead.

@Reikis Did you get oil for the hubbologist spaceship? Then you can transfer that oil to the tanker from the hubbologist mainframe.
If not, you may very well be stuck.
