Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

The vertibird that is flyable is at navarro.

Two things are needed to get it to fly.

First, you need the yellow keycard found at either the Klamath canyon or from a Enclave guard from the Gecko verti assault encounter. You then need to realign the satellite which can be done from a terminal from the far building to the right of the vertibird.

@ killap

The key card is only used once I'm inside the vertibird, right? The problem is that I cannot get inside it, and I do have the right card.

Realigning the satellite should be possible from the air traffic control terminal - either before or after you've entered the vertibird. Problem is that such a terminal does not exist.

What triggers the game to read cisactrl.int and cverti.int?

Well, unless something is broken, which I don't think it should be since I flew successfully many times when I was creating the mod, the verti is only accessible if there are no guards near it to see you. If you access it while a guard is around, he should yell at you and then eventually attack if you continue to play with the aircraft. Same goes with the terminal. I don't have the map in front of me at the moment, but the terminal should be the one next to the guard in the left side of the air traffic control building.

And yes, the keycard is only used once when inside the craft. It activates the autopilot.

The guards won't say or do anything, since it's not possible to manipulate the vertibird in any way, no hand icon if I put the mouse over it either.

That description fits two consoles, but I just checked them both, again. They are just ordinary computer consoles.

I don't know how things work, but does scripts have to be registered somewhere for the game to use them? Cause it feels like the necessary scripts are missing. I checked the Navarro map in the Fallout 2 Mapper. List all scripts don't show cisactrl.int or cverti.int, shouldn't they be there?

cheers

I have tried every computer too... they do nothing and no one dosent say to stay away from them

Can some1 upload a screen shots for flying with the Vertibird? i cant configure out how to fly with it dunno...

Shit. You guys are right. The navarro map file does not have the scripts associated with the verti flying portion. It seems like either I forgot to include the updated file or I made a change to the original version of the map to include in the patch and overwrote the one specific to the expansion. Wow, sorry about that. Looks like this feature will finally become possible in 1.2. This is what happens when I try and juggle so many different versions of Fallout...

@ killap

Yeah I suspected something like that was up. Oh well, shit happens. :)
You might want to take a look at the landing pad at the Enclave as well. There's no script there either and secret blocking hexes in front of the vertibird so you can't reach it. The strange thing is that unlike in Navarro, the proto - use - option seems correct for the vertibird.

Cheers

Kaga encounters

Some questions about Kaga encounters.
Is it ok to escape by running off the screen or do I have to fght him every time I meet him until he runs away?

What happens if you kill him before 5th encounter? I was able to kill him with the help of my NPC the 4th time I met him. It only took one round and some critical hits.

Also it seems to be quite often that Kaga gets hit and falls unconsious. Then you can end combat and take all his weapons :D Now is it ok to run off the screen or do I have to keep shooting until he is hit enough and runs off the screen.

ufo_hunter,
If I read the previous posts about this correctly, you are not supposed to be able to kill Kaga before the 5th encounter, and you are not supposed to be able to knock him out and steal all his stuff. This is possible in v1.1, but will be fixed in the next version.

I'm certain you can't run away until after he stops talking. But then, he has more to say before he runs away himself. Try making it to the exit grid and see what happens. 8-)

That's what I thought so I reloaded after Kaga was killed in my 4th encounter. I was just wondering.

Kaga has about 600 hp (I think) but it is not very hard to kill him if sulik has an smg and marcus, lets say, a bozar. I find it hard not to get him killed in the 4th encounters right now...

Any idea when the next version will be out?

Hi, is there any place where I can get suliks crippelt leg fixed?
None of the docs in vault city, redding or ncr seems to be able in doing that.

Use your own doctor skill on him. Keep trying if your skill is low, or try using a doctor bag. I fixed Cassidy that way.

If you have a save game before entering Navarro, you won't have to start over after installing 1.2.

@ Reikis

You never answered before, if you transfered oil to the hubologists spaceship, there is still a way to get oil to the tanker.

Or if you have a save before you delivered the vertibird plans to the brotherhood Matthiew dude, you can use a character editor to lower your intelligence to 3, then give him the plans and he will fix up the tanker for you.

I havent transfered oil to anywhere.... Emperor is dead... and all shi people are hostile to me no fuel from them... Badger is dead... whole oiltanker screw is pissed off at me... The guy from canada wont say that she has crush on Vikki so cant get oil that way... I allready returned the vertibird plans to the brotherhood guy and I dont have any savings before any of this happened

Wouldn't the computers and tanker controls still respond even if he killed everybody? I suppose not if killing the emperor disables all the Shi computers, and they were the only ones with any fuel in the first place. If you never moved any fuel before you started killing, then Darek is right. You are fuct.

(Brute force is not always a solution to every problem)

It would be interesting to know if (when it is working) you could still get to the Enclave base via the Navarro vertibird, and finish the game without visiting San Francisco at all. Otherwise. this really doesn't belong in this thread anyway, as the Restoration Project doesn't change anything about fueling the tanker.
