Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

I'm glad it's not the EPA then, I've already been there and it'd be a pain to go back and comb the place over for it.

Having to have the NPC with you is also good to know.

killap said that marcus' armor is in the EPA but has not mentioned dogmeat's except its in one of the original locations.
No, marcus armor is NOT at the EPA.

Marcus's armor is at a location new to the RP (not EPA though). Dogmeat's armor is at an old location. Remember, you must have the NPC with you to obtain the armor for them.

holy crap!! my bad. yeah its not EPA that you mentioned killap. sorry bout the confusion. i'll keep my mouth shut now.

Is there a way to free the EPA Doctor's only sane (?) tribal prisoner (the one begging to be set free)? I've tried the release computer, but it only releases the monsters and mad tribals, and the sane prisoner remains trapped. Also, I can't use repair on the field generator as I could do in other places in the game (and in FO1).

Is there a way to save the cryo-tube subject in the EPA Indigo Level from bursting into flames? The computer says that special chemicals are needed - could Mr Chemmie make them?

No. But it is something I could consider.

Sadly not. Just consider them like the guy you rescue at the SAD. However, the EPA design docs did say you were supposed to get a new companion here...so perhaps I should take this into consideration.

These two would be awesome, especially the companion one - Fallout 2 has no female companion, and this could be the first; also, with her background (born before the War and frozen before the War), she would be able to make very interesting and/or funny comments (maybe even location comments?).

You can free him by dropping some armed dynamite in front of the field generator.

Technically Miria is a female companion, but I think you meant useful companions. Interactions with Myron could be rather amusing.

Yes, quite so :)

This is true. He just runs away though - nothing special.

I shall consider the companion thing for 1.3. It was intended, so I should include it.

The only things left for the RP is the Shi sub and the interior to the Hubologist space shuttle. Nothing special with the latter, just more site seeing. The former will change how the Tanker quest works though. If you don't disable the Shi sub, then its automated defense system will sink the tanker. Still need custom graphics for the location though.

I believe it was also mentioned that a doctor could join the party. I don't recall which doc though (vault city doc maybe?)

Oh and don't forget the intended companion from the easter egg from new reno :P

Uh-uh. Lenny from Gecko was the doctor companion.

I was wondering if I should add "and no, its not lenny"... Guess I should.

But the doc. from V15 sound about right. It was in the bible right?

Ohh...

I was always wondering about the V15 doc, because you never got to tell him you killed Darion and he just sort of chilled there for the rest of the game.

I found another Yellow Keycard on the corpse of a guard killed at "Salvatore's Desert Transaction". Does anyone know if this card works for the vertibird the same as the one from Klamath or Gecko verti assault? - Like being a third option for finding a keycard that works?

Yes, I believe I placed one there as well.

Thanks killap.
That keycard might have been there in v1.1 but I wasn't bold enough to fight those guys before. :)

Another question is about SAD and releasing a virus. Per's Ultimate guide says releasing the virus gives you 4 minutes to leave the depot, but is really only 1 minute because of a bug. Was this something you fixed in the Restoration Project or Un-official patch? I could not find this in your huge list of fixes, but quite possible that I overlooked it. Just curious as to how much time there really is if you want to extract a brain and assemble Skynet after extracting a virus.

Also, it seems like making a save after starting a countdown would be a no-no, like saving in combat or saving with explosives armed. So any saves (like, to make sure you can retrieve the best brain) should be made before releasing the virus?
