Fallout 3: official teaser trailer announced

When I was perusing the Bethy forum, I stumbled across this little gem:

Some fallout players could be compared with Spartans.

" THIS IS FALLOUT! "

But this is the " charm " of the fallout community.

Actual something on that forum that made me laugh.

The previous post, about Fallout fans being a little spartan about their beleif, only reminds me of something.

We are the strongest fan base there is. Recruitment ranks swell, information is spreading, releasing new content, former BIS members at our side, well, the fuck if THIS AIN'T NMA !

Augh.

Geez not funny dev (I still love you though), we have a bunch of Fallout fans in Iraque and Afghanistan, or the places where terrorist attacks happened...

Yea, that one is a bit much for me. Lost a couple of friends from Cantor in 9/11.

Nice effort, bad execution.

It could as well be the trailer for "The Hills Have Eyes 2"
It does not feel very falloutish.

Hey, my name is Jonah Lobe and I am a character artist working here at Bethesda. I'll be working on creatures... I'll try not to mangle any old favorites you might have. I don't have too much say about the actual concept artwork, since I'm pretty much a grunt here, but I like giving my own personal twists

He's speaking of future like he hasn't started work yet. Maybe it's because he's kinda new there or maybe actual work on creatures hasn't started. Then perhaps we'll really see nothing in a teaser.[/url]

Man I hate this soundtrack.

It just says to me: OBLIVION!

EDIT: Shit, those avatars are awesome. Mind if I use one?

No problem, that's what I made them for. General use. :)

EDIT: I can make another want if you want, monsharen.

Maybe you could make one with static head and chaning text:
1. "THIS"
2. "IS"
3. "FAAALLOOUUT"

or something like that! :D

No, sir, I didn't like it.

The music has nothing to do with Fallout, and the picture again nothing, except for being OMG POSTOPOCOLIPYC!!11 which I'm sure it's the thing Molesta fanboys will use to defend it.

(Nice little clause that pre-empts any attempts to defend the art with a little ad hominem at the end, there....)

Can anybody justify why the landscape should be identically scarred if the terrain was different to begin with? Given that the geographical setting may well be different to the first two, then it would be perfectly reasonable to imbue a different feel on the landscape.

As it is, I can't see anything in that concept art that is necessarily precluded from the fallout universe. It does look different to the first two, but does that make it bad?

Also, it is just concept art, and doesn't necessarily relate directly to the art that is implemented in the final product. A Fallout 1/2 landscape portrayed with the same realism would be very different to those seen in-game. (Presumably it does convey a general aesthetic which they have in mind for the final game but, in that case, I'd refer you to my first comment.)

Once again, my general sense is that Bethesda have tossed us a fairly insignificant crumb which is receiving somewhat undue attention. I think there is a very good chance that the teaser will be similarly uninformative. I can only hope that their little get-together soon after will yield something more substantial for us to consider...
