Well that shoots that idea out of the water, still though that could be how long it lasts unused, batteries do tend to last shorter than the advertised year but who knows.
 
Beginning of character "sculpting." Wife says something to the effect of "You're going to knock them dead tonight at the veteran's meeting."

And I don't see the exchange with the Employee as badly written or scripted. To me he came off as a guy who had inside info about the bombs being dropped and wanted any excuse he could to get his ass into the vault ASAP.
 
New idea about the battery, maybe they didn't have enough packs to ship with armor, during heavy war with a lack of resources this can happen, so they could have added an adapter on the armor for earlier batteries.
 
Oh god, they even force the "gruff white guy war veteran" backstory on you too..... great. Couldn't at least make it not generic as fuck if they are gonna force it on the player?

I'll accept that as a crappy cliche, but he could just be speaking there, or showing his patriotism by leading a rally or something. Of course, I keep on having to remind myself that all of Bethesda's good writers are gone :|
 
Sure it's a cliche. Are cliche's the end of the world? FO3 and NV had nothing to do with PC's or even PC families that were part of any sort of military, and this is the veteran angle from a PRE-War angle which I for one and interested in learning more about. As for "white?" they don't make you white man. They did that in FO3 by giving you a white dad. But seemingly they've learned from their mistakes. Funny how that's possible.
 
Dude, the guy's voice is a Troy Baker's gruff voiced sounding motherfucker, and he is the archetypical videogame heroe everyone jokes about all the time. I added in white just for good measure but it's kind of obvious the type of character they are forcing on you, which makes me feel like they won't allow much in the way of personal characterization. All his dialogue choices are probably gonna all be extremeley vanilla lines with "Tought guy" tone, and probably a token "funny" one every once in a while....
So is the wife also a War Veteran or does she get a different forced Backstory?
 
Lol, man this forum is fun just for the ability to see all these jaded, angry people who can't seem to find a thing about this game they like despite the fact that it's still 4+ months away. Fans that are so loyal act like they'd hate the game regardless of how it was done. 10/10.
 
Reminds me of how I always play Mass Effect with Femshep, whoever the dude voicing Male shep is he has no emotional range at all and his voice is rather boring while Jennifer Hale is an amazing actress.

I never played 1, 2 or tactics. I wish I had in hindsight but those types of games were never really my thing. All I know is that regardless of the times and ways I've been burned by Bethesda I still enjoy the hell out of their games. I've already pre-ordered FO:4 to show my support for them and the work they've been doing diligently for four years or so. Hell, until I realized that they aren't making the companion app for my phone type I was going to get the Pip Boy CE. I still might just to have it.

I believe they are releasing for Android at a later date.
