Fallout 4 Creation Club is now live

I wonder when Fallout 4 "Special Edition" comes out, with its own store which doesn't connect with the older one.

Oh!

And Fallout 4 Special Edition VR Edition, with ITS own store too.

Curious, what is an ESL?
I know ESP, and ESM.

  • Light plugin (.esl) file are a new optimized file format, introduced in the 1.10 Update. They behave like a normal plugin, except for the following:
    • .esl files are read-only. Active development should be done in an normal (.esp) plugin.
    • .esl files bypass the 8-bit plugin ID limit (255).
    • .esl files have a budget of no more than 4,000 forms.
    • .esl files are treated as unique files from the .esp it was converted from, so saved games will not be compatible between them.
And actually it doesn't mean you can have unlimited plugins, it just extends the limit to 4096, at the cost of a more limited FormID budget.

Only 4000 fourms ? So no new quest mods or anything then !?

Just rip the CC files out and upload them.

Massive chortles!
Why upload it? I thought that the bs2 files that the update forces you to download are unencrypted and that it might be possible to just make an easy .esp file that uses the content from these files. What would the legal status be in that case? I mean, you're just making a mod that uses files already present on your HDD, and nobody was asked if they wanted to download these files. Nobody is ripping files or decompiling or reverse engineering, just making a mod that puts cut content in. Shouldn't that be fine? I mean, if it's possible to make such a mod, that is...

Its the gaming industry.

Merely owning the game can probably be proven to be illegal if they throw enough shekels at the right people.

They are legally allowed to false advertise and do gambling to children.

Well, since you technically don't "own" games anymore I guess there'd be a legally grey area of files that were pushed on your computer against your will. This is some serious bullshit, and Bethesda should really choke on it.

Except we all know they won't choke on it.

They'll slap out the next game, make millions, and everyone will forget about the past.

Wouldn't be too sure about it. The backlash is pretty severe, and while their super long development cycle could make it easier for people to forget about this bullshit before their next games arrives, it might actually stick this time. The reception of Fallout 4 with its overreliance on radiant quests and even more shallow gameplay was already much less warmly received than their previous games, and more and more people are seeing that milking Skyrim for six years and now breaking Fallout 4 modding is a huge scam. They're using up all the good will people had towards them, and while there are a few PS4 users who like nothing more than bending over and paying money for an unlubed dose of cock in their arse, large parts of their player base are actually getting tired of them.

If the massive dumbdown from morrowind to oblivion to skyrim was heralded and rejoiced by gamers.

Bethesda will do fine.

EA blatantly acts like a cunt on purpose, making games with practically limited lifespans on purpose, and has been rated worst company multiple times, and is doing fine.

Depends, when you look at it since Morrowind Bethesda was constantly extending their player base while alinating previous fans at the same time. Morrowind was not so well received by hardcore daggerfall fans, hardcore Morrowind fans have been disapointed by Oblivion, and there are Oblivion fans that didn't like Skyrim. And they repeat the same cycle now with Fallout 4 where many Fallout 3 players are not so content with Fallout 4. What saved Bethesda was hype and the constant stream of new players, Morrowind I think sold 500 000 copies? Oblivion was their first game that cracked the 1 million sales. In contrast Skyrim sold 20 million even.

Bethesda is a one trick pony though, they sell one and only one formula and that's it. Maybe at some point they will hit a wall and reach market saturation and from there it will go down in sales numbers. Who knows?

Of course, that has to mean nothing at all, they could just as well continue with it and sell garbage to gamers till the end of times. EA exists as well, despite all the shit gamers throw at them. But Bethesda has a clear history of burning bridges I think, more than other companies.

So far the heat Bethesda's facing hasn't been dying down. Hiney's words definitely do not help at all (I sometimes wonder where he learnt how to enunciate diplomatically because he isn't doing it well especially on Twitter).

With Bethesda doubling down on their decision, we may yet see some maintained resistance even as Bethesda's next hype train rolls in. Though the alternative that Bethesda becomes public-ally known as EA the Second and preserves despite negative reputation is just as likely to occur.

You are all critising CC, like it was easy to make bread skin and sell it for bullshit currency, sold in packs for cold cash.

Hey @Crni Vuk you didn't smear enough fecal matter on the part about the everything.

I'm honestly confused how anyone can defend this obviously horrid idea as a viable system to distribute/sell mods. Perhaps they have not observe this create club enough or the previous attempt?

Dunno, if some people believed Hitler to win the war till the day he died, than you can bet that there will be people to defend CC till the end of time.
