Fallout 4 DLC revealed

I am a little curious how the mechanist made it to Boston after I emptied a plasma rifle into his face.
Bethesda has access to 4 recycling bins.
1.) Fallout three stuff (not the notable things, just the stuff that was mediocre.)
2.) Mod author content.
3.) Fallout 1, 2 and NV content.
4.) Popular pop culture.

Hardcore mode is taken from bin 3, Mechanist is taken from bin 1, Fallout Hearthfire from 2 because that is where the original came from, there was a mod called build your own home. In the game files Hearthfire is coded BYOH and Far Point Lookout is a combo of 1 and 4.

Ok, so the first two are more or less stuff that is already mods and the third is pretty much Point Lookout, but with Synths and lolthechildrenofatom. Riveting. Also, The Mechanist? Good lord. That super hero stuff was cringe worthy in FO3.

LOOOOOOOL. This is so much worse than I expected. Good shit Bethesda, you totally exceeded my expectations.

Despite of all the "It's just paid mods!", well to be honest, that actually doesn't bother me that much. If the content has a high quality. I don't see a problem with a developer providing something that some mods already do, and demanding money for it. As long they do it better. Often enough while many mods are nice, they lack what I call a professional feeling. A finishing touch, that you simply can only get in a very sophicisticated work environment, because you don't have 10 people working on your mod/project most of their day, making the Q&A testing, giving you input and so on. So, hey! As long it's really great, I don't care if it's similar content like from mods.
But that is pretty much the problem. Most of the time, Beth isn't doing a better job compared to modders ...

Still, even in the hands of quality developers, there's still a sense of "could be spending their time on something better". XCOM 2's pre-order deals included cosmetic additions like adding shirts and sweaters and classic armour to the customisation, which as evidenced by the mods currently available for XCOM 2 are sort of the kind of things mods will easily succeed anyways.

I would rather developers stick to making DLCs about the story itself, expanding on major content and plot points. Basically, devs should do what modders cannot, as they aren't bound by the same limitations modders are. If the developers are just creating content that modders could easily match up to then it feels like a waste of time and resources, in my opinion.

The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain.

With the Wasteland Workshop, design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws! Tame them or have them face off in battle

growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This is a joke right?

Oh wait...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

EDIT: The third one does seem interesting, although I find it funny how they decided to use the two worst factions they could.

I actually think a Lovecraft themed Fallout DLC would be pretty cool if done by someone more subtle and competent like Obsidian.

Lets just cut Fallout out and just say you would love to play a Lovecraft themed RPG that really feels true to the stories.
I still find it strange that there are barely any computers games, let alone a full CRPG based on that franchise.

That promotional art is pretty cool, I have to admit.

Its too bad FO4 itself is a trash game. And this DLC is more trash on top.

We’ll be running closed betas for each of the add-ons for consoles and PC. And you can sign up right now on Bethesda.net.

Oh, for fuck's sake, again! They're not even gonna test it first, they're going to pull the classic Steam Early Access but on their own site! At least I don't think players need to pay to get into the beta, they just get invited, but you can never be sure.

This is our way of saying thanks to all our loyal fans who have believed in us and supported us over the years.

To quote Yahtzee Croshaw, "there is no middle finger big enough".

Yeah, that's how I view it. I'm not against smaller DLCs, but Hearthfire was arguably worse than a few existing Skyrim housing mods, and if Bethesda charges 10$ for robot settlers, they better be great robot settlers.

Then again, it's kinda obvious they inflate the price to encourage people to buy the season pass.

I'm still utterly unconvinced by Synths vs Children of Atom however. Of all the faction of the East Coast, they had to have the stupid nuclear cult and the Blade Runner rejects? I mean, maybe a miracle happens and they do something good out of it, but since they couldn't handle a concept as simple as vampires vs vampire hunters in Dawnguard...

Content DLC, we are going full circle to Horse Armor again soon

.

Now without joking, when I saw the first two "magazine covers" I thought it was a joke and someone made them to "make fun" of FO4 lack of good writing... I really did, I am not joking... I mean...

"Robots, robots and more robots. Even build your own! AUTOMATRON" and "Build your own arena of death while redecorating your home. Wasteland Workshop" how ridiculous does that sound? those seem like someone went and put effort into it to "make fun" of future DLC ideas by creating some really bad ones...

I really can't explain, I woke up too early today and can't communicate yet.
