Fallout 4 - Far Harbor Official Trailer

You know, I'm kind of looking forward to this DLC. Imagine if they try to make some sort of sob story between Nick and his brother? Imagine how hilarious that could be. Why would you not want that? That would be the funniest thing ever. It'll be amazing seeing how hard the developers fail at trying to make some sort of sad story between two robots.
This better not disappoint me.

Oh come on, Nick Valentine has got brother, really? So he is vital to this DLC and we have to take him with us ... great.
No, you don't, here's screens with Cait (shots by someone else):

Nick will bother asking questions about him and his 'bro' will reveal some of the Nick's past but he's not plot critical character

That just means you don't have to have him as a companion. It's clear the DLC revolves around him once again negating any characters that are completely anti synth and feel Valentine was unchecked technology that needed to be dealt with like the rest of them.

I wonder if Pesto Gravy's radiant missions will then also include Far Harbor, like how in Skyrim the Thieves Guild radiant missions would eventually include Solstheim, meaning that you'd have to frequently travel to and from there.

Those screenshots definitely do not fill me with confidence in this product.
Most of it is much more Fallout 4 and as for the new material, I really dislike some of the ridiculous stats for the melee weapons or that there are yet more weapons with special abilities.
The new armors are just plain ugly and who would wear a lobster trap as a helmet?

The rad chicken is just plain stupid, it is the 'everything is apocalyptic if you put rad in front of a name' trope.
Just call it a plain chicken, even if it has undergone some mutation from its baseline genetics I still it is close enough to be considered a regular chicken unless it has turned into some top predator or something that now attacks humans or has taken on other type of non chicken traits.

The new large crab mutant is a neat design but as another poster showed here, it is a rip off of someone else's game. Not that this is anything new as I have heard that Bethesda has 'copied' concept art before in the past for their own game.

The new lobster or prawn thing in the trailer was neat looking but gameplay wise it is just another version of the giant mirelurk to kill.
The angler fish thing is interesting but it is probably a Mirelurk king variant.
Note, variants do not have to be a problem as Obsidian also recycled several Fallout 3 creatures to create spore carriers and lurkers.

Actually learning more about Nick is not so bad as he was one of the better companions in the game but it is clear that the player must have met him or at least been to his office in order to start this quest/DLC, unlike Fallout New Vegas one (Okay, if you had met Veronica and recruited her, it would play an extra role when you met Christine and Elijah).
To be honest, I am not so sure if I want to know more about the Synthetics because despite their interesting sounding concept they were not that interesting at all, not a real additional 'species' to the Fallout universe as they could have been, existing next to Super Mutants, Ghouls, and so on.

Like others pointed out, this looks a lot like Point Lookout V 2.0. Now that was an okay DLC but hardly a stellar one and I would not buy Fallout 3 just to play it just like I will not play Fallout 4 to play this.
So far all of Bethesda's DLCs are big misses and no match to other SP DLCs for some other games.

Personally I am a bit sick of Bethesda's half assed attempt at shoving Lovecraft references or atmosphere into Fallout.

Nick has a brother he didn't know about.... Great, is he the evil twin, like Data and Lore from ST:NG?

I had not even thought of that one. Bethesda is bringing back the 'Evil Twin'.

A reference to Dead Money content. I thought this was a nice touch.

I dunno if I'm the only one here who feels this way, and excuse me if I come off sounding like an asshole, but I honestly don't appreciate that. They went out of their way to ignore New Vegas and everything amazing it did for the series, and then proceeded to mock it in the base game. Deacon somehow winning Mr. House's entire Mr. Handy passcode system in a game of poker, for example. Or how Jack Cabot claims there's an ancient alien city under the Mojave, where New Vegas takes place.

And now it seems like they're trying to play buddy buddy with NV by ripping it off and making less assholish references to it because they realize how much people hate the lack of RPG content compared to NV. For example:

This is from New Vegas:

And this is from Far Harbor:

I feel the same. Bethesda pretty much ignores everything from Fallout 1 and 2 (and FNV) other than the elements they like but change considerable to fit 'their vision', but can't resist doing these little 'nods' but in such a way that they want to upstage Obsidian.
"See? We are as smart/smarter than Obsidian's writers."

Had Fallout 3 and 4 be true follow up to the previous games I would have seen it as another sign that Bethesda's writers 'getting it' and doing little things like these to strengthen the cohesion instead of now pretend playing that these games exist in the same universe.

As for that gameplay mechanic, that was what damn Bethesda was suppose to learn from FNV, and this is why skills played such an important role as well, opening complete new paths or solutions.

Oh boy here we go, not-deep ones. Gotta put Cthulhu Mythos references in our game.

Why can't you just blow up Far Harbor? There's obviously nothing there worth caring about(just like the rest of Boston) so why not just bomb it like the psychotic lone wanderer did to Megaton?

Well the Children of Atom are in this DLC. Who knows, maybe we will be able to nuke it if we side with them. If we can side with them. Based off leaked footage on this thread it sounds like we can.
I don't know why, that's the kind of faction that I would like to destroy in the name of Fallout 1, 2, and NV. I just don't like them, they sound retarded with no real purpose besides "we worship duh bombs lulz".
