Fallout 76: E3 Trailer

Some more thoughts:

- I feel like it's not been downplayed like it should
- Pretty much the exact same procedure of reveal-annoucement-E3 "in depth" segment as Fo4
- The term "standoff" "spinoff" "standalone" or anything of the sort was even muttered
- Constant reassurance that Fallout fans will be at home and that those wanting a solo experience will totally get it
- Opening preorders before any specifics thus banking on expectations alone
- Claims of most ambitious project yet, X times bigger than Y game, like every single release
- Relatively small focus on the actually characteristic features of the game but instead going overlong about a gimmick ('Member Dogmeat?)
- Technically general scale increase
- Suuper special Limited Edition with a series classic memorabilia (because of course that couldn't go without being milked)
- Taking preorders before even revealing anything or at least confirming the leaks

I would've earnestly liked a fun little Fallout Survival spinoff as an appetizer for their next games that we'll eventually hate. But in all senses and purposes, this may as well be a mainline game. That's irked me so much I've been turned off completely.

Has anyone dropped yet the "I expect nothing and I'm still let down" gif? Cause, sad.

Edit: Had it been all basebuilding and having NPCs around, maybe like an improved version of the FO4 settlements, that could have been fun I guess. Kinda comfy.

But apparently the only NPCs are robots, and it doesn't matter how much care you put into your settlement because Bethesda loves explosions more than Michael Bay, and even enemies can wreck your buildings if you decide to play solo.

Giving players nukes in a PvP enabled game and expect there to be friendly interactions, having in mind that player interaction is the only thing that gives meaning to the game... Is this Sea of Thieves?

Most important stuff so far

  • It is indeed tricentenial-related, as the people there celebrated the vault being built in 2076.
  • There is "sixteen times" the detail in the game's environment. Hard to pin down exactly what that means.
  • There are lots of new creatures - like the winged gargoyle-like Scorchbeast - inspired by West Virginian folklore.
  • It is, indeed, an online game - all the other people who come out of the vault are real human players. You can befriend them or fight them.
  • You can play it solo, do story stuff and level up like usual - or you can do it online.

  • It is indeed a survival game, but "soft-core" survival - you don't lose your character or your progression when you die.
  • Your character's not tied to one server, and in your world you see dozens of other players not hundreds or thousands.
  • You can join friends whenever you want and your progression goes with you.
  • There are emotes.
  • There's both PvP and PvE.
  • You can build "whatever you want" and move that stuff "wherever you want" - essentially it's the base building of Fallout 4 and fully-mobile.
  • There's a photo mode.
  • You can get your own nukes! To do so you'll need to collect fragments of nuclear launch codes from killing human or non-human enemies and then take all of them to a nuclear launch site to fire the missile - and you can aim it at whatever you want, presumably including other people's bases that they've spent ages building.
  • The collectors edition features a glow in the dark map and a wearable power armour helmet.

Oh god this has been a terrible day seeing this crap, and of course all the bethestards who were angry about it absolutely love it when a 20 second clip about ES6 pops up, what a joke this is.

I'll probably pick it up a year down the road, second hand and for a cheap price.

We really don't know this. Todd said "you can totally play it solo". Playing a game solo is different from playing a game single player.
It is a always online game. We do know that because Todd said so himself.

For example, you can play Elder Scrolls Online solo, but you will still have to deal with other players in the world. Solo in online games means not playing the game with friends/a clan/etc. Doesn't mean playing the game being the only human player.

I liked the announcement of starfield and tes. these will be the next projects of them and probably a new engine too. a lot of work to be done and now they can stop for a few years of raping the corpse of fallout.

Going in a 100% optimistic way, maybe they, in the meantime, outsource fallout to another company.

It is from the article. Inaccurate on that part, it is always online anyway. That should ring alarm bells about this solo bullshit.

Yeah maybe in a million years, Fallout is a HUGE moneymaker for Bethesda, they won't just give it up.

Also, the game seems built for multiplayer, there are no NPCs or anything apart from the couple robots we've seen. Playing solo probably means being absolutely alone against the enemies.

So kinda like Minecraft without villagers. And idk other people but to me without NPCs where's the fun in settlement building, it's just going to look like a ghost town.

It seems to be more about building a base than a settlement to me like conan exiles, rust or ark

A ghost town that critters and other players can destroy at will. Seems totally idiotic to me, but hey, they know their target audience well.

What's with all this fake anger? It's like watching the latest Transformers having hated every previous movie expecting it to be any different.

Everyone. EVERYONE KNEW there was no chance of this turning out like FO2 and Vegas so why are we STILL discussing everything that already been talked about since FO4?
Well...
Duh?
I can't speak for anyone else here but I'm just doing it cause it's fun to fling shit at Bethesda.
I don't actually care that much anymore. Fallout is dead. I'm over it. No point in raging about something that will never change.
But it's fun to relive that "sh00k" and poke at Bethesda with a very sharp stick. :)

At the end of the day we get to enjoy Nevada (have a fresh install of Nevade CE gonna try out for the first time tonight) and Sonora in the near future, Beths get to enjoy 76.
Honestly, i'm more mad about what EA did to command and conquer then fallout 76.

I was already mad what they did with Command & Conquer 4. I was happy when they decided to kill it... But yeah... Now they revived "it" and it is totally awful...

Is it like when whatstheirface revived Dungeon Keeper as a mobile game where you have to pretty much pay money just to dig tiles?
