Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

Maybe you two could collaborate so that work doesn't end up duplicated?

I'm curious, why not use transifex.com to manage the translations? It's WAY better and less complicated than do this through github, ppl go there, translate what they want, the end. No complications at all.

@Felipefpl I did look into this when you originally suggested it, but those prices are very high for a free project. Paying 20 or 99 a month for a mod is just crazy to me.

I'm 100.5% sure I did, but I'm reinstalling now and double checking. I do custom-only, and go for most of the optional changes like that, so I don't see why I'm having this issue. No clues yknow?

edit: yeah I just uninstalled/reinstalled and nothing. I made sure the option was clicked and so I've got no clue.

@cabbagesqueezer Nice username. :wiggle: I don't know how you're seeing this. The barter guy isn't even optional in his script; he's always there. And Agatha is only disabled if you chose "Fixes Only" or specifically chose to disable her. Which actual file did you download?

Agatha is in the empty building in the first map, to the west of Seth and Katrina.
Barterguy is at the entrance of the 2nd map. Just head east and when you hit the exit grid he'll be right in front of you.

hi, i don't know if anyone had this problem but im playing the game with fixt (half-purist) and the caravan missions are all screwed, i did one for the crimsons and other for the water merchants and when i tried to do a second one i ended up all alone with the two wagons and no enemies or caravan crew, is there any way to solve that?

At the moment it's a known issue unfortunately. Try other caravan companies and other destinations, in theory it shouldn't affect all of them. It's on the list to fix though.

I'm unsure what's happened. I downloaded from the main post in the thread the full installer and made sure I installed with that option checked. I tried installing both in Program files, even though it said not to (hehe), and outside of it. I'm giving it another try now that I'm at home and I hope it works. If it doesn't, I'll figure something out? Also, yeah, the username is Scouting related. Goodstuffs.

No dice so far. Freshly installed Fallout and Fixt and I have finally got the merchant to show up, but I still don't have the storyteller. Any clues on where to look/what to look at? If I knew anything about modding I'd find a way to check myself but alas, I haven't learned yet.

Any luck on reproducing my bug?

Haven't tested yet; this week I'm spending all my time working on the engine conversion.

I will see what I can find out, but in the end honestly you're not missing much; the designers never coded her stories because she was cut from the game early on. This is her entire dialog file:

Code:
{100}{}{You see an aged woman.}
{101}{}{You see: Agatha.}
{102}{}{This woman is wrinkled and gray, yet has a spry step and a bright personality.}
{103}{}{You are a bad person. I will have nothing to do with you.}
{104}{}{It is a terrible thing when our youth are threatened. The loss of Tandi would be a terrible thing.}
{105}{}{Hnng.}
{106}{}{Okay.}
{107}{}{Why?}
{108}{}{What do you mean?}
{109}{}{I know you will do your best, dearie. Find Tandi, help her escape those beasts and return her to Aradesh. You will do this community a favor and build good karma as well.}
{110}{}{Aradesh loves his daughter very much. It is that love that makes him the man that he is and a pillar of this community. Without that love he would be lost, and Shady Sands would surely follow...}
{111}{}{I will do my best. Goodbye.}
{112}{}{I could use some help.}
{113}{}{Hmmm. We'll see.}
{114}{}{I feel that she is imprisoned. She was the target of hatred. That hate is very strong to the southeast. I'm sure you will find her there. Good luck.}
{115}{}{Thank you.}
{116}{}{You have not heard? Tandi is missing. I feel she was kidnapped. Aradesh is most distraught. This is a terrible thing...}
{117}{}{I hear that you have saved Tandi. That was the right thing to do. Your karma is strong. I have high hopes for your future.}
{118}{}{I'm very sorry to hear about Tandi. She was such a bright young woman. She would have done good with her life.}
{119}{}{Hello. You must be the stranger everyone is talking about. *sigh* How can I help you?}
{120}{}{Hngh.}
{121}{}{Who are you?}
{122}{}{You look very tired. Is there anything wrong?}
{123}{}{Why do you look so tired?}
{124}{}{Don't talk to me, old woman.}
{125}{}{You need more help than I can give you, child. May Dharma be with you.}
{126}{}{My name is Agatha. I am the storyteller of Shady Sands. It is my job to keep the history so that we may remember and never forget.}
{127}{}{Tell me a story.}
{128}{}{Okay, whatever.}
{129}{}{It is good not to forget.}
{130}{}{I'm sorry, child, I am tired right now. I need my rest. Please come back later.}
{131}{}{How very true. (She stares at you for a moment) It is good for the young to remember, but it is very hard to act within the flow of history. Sometimes, the very course we take is determined by events long ago. May Dharma be with you. I must rest for a little while. Come back again, when I am stronger, and we will speak again.}
{132}{}{Thank you for asking. I'm just old, that's all. I cannot sleep at night. I close my eyes... (She pauses), but I get no rest. Please, it is just my old tired bones...}
{133}{}{I'm sorry, I'm very tired. Could you please come back later?}
{134}{}{Baba.}
{135}{}{Okay.}
{136}{}{Why are you so tired?}
{137}{}{I don't sleep well at night, my child. It must be my age.}
{138}{}{Good day, my child. You look well. You remind me of my own baby.}
{139}{}{Hng.}
{140}{}{I want a story, then.}
{141}{}{I'm glad you are feeling better.}
{142}{}{Thank you. Goodbye.}
{143}{}{You definitely remind me of my baby. When she was just a few months old, as a matter of fact.}
{144}{}{Thank you. Dharma always said that the farmer who plants politeness will walk easy when the season is over.}
{145}{}{Please tell me a story.}
{146}{}{This Dharma fellow sounds like an idiot.}
{147}{}{You insult your elders. You should know better.}

I've encountered her in previous versions before, so I'm know I'm not missing much, but if she's not there I'm wary of other content that didn't get installed like it was supposed to. I guess I'll just have to play through to the other stuff added in under the same options and see if it's just that material. I can test Ian and armor changes early so I guess that's the first place to look to see if my install was wonky.

I have two questions.

#1 can I update a current game running Fallout Fixt alpha 5.3 to alpha 7.1 without breaking anything.

#2 Will using F1se on a current alpha 5.3 game and changing only my radiation level and my radiation resistance break anything concerning Fallout Fixt changes?

I had an old game I had restarted and got stuck not having enough rad-x for the glow as the rad-x only boosted 20% each and I could not find enough early on so I just went into the glow and cleared it and left and used up rad away till I ran out but I was still dying till I altered the game and used buffout and mentats to survive the sickness.

It seems since I altered my save that the creature encounters are are close up again, I thought fallout fixt changed the random encounters so that the critters were not all one space from you at the start of an encounter.

Maybe. In theory it should work, but I'd definitely back up the entire Fallout folder first.

Again should be fine in theory, backup first though.

Do you recall exactly what encounters? The distance modifiers can be changed but if you could point me in the right direction that would be helpful. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.

I had a saved Fallout Fixt alpha 5.3 game from a while back that I intended to finish as I do a Fallout Marathon before Fallout 4 is released. I had left The Glow heading for the BOS and was dying as I didnt have enough Rad-away and my Rad-x was only giving me 20% per use instead of the vanilla 40-50%? So what I did was grabbed the F1se save game editor and used it to remove my radiation, and then I reloaded the altered game and used buffout and mentats to survive the sickness.

Now I was just a little ways away from The Glow and on my way back to BOS and I had 3 random creature encounters and they all started within 1 square of me. (Radscorpions x3, Radscorps x1 and a Deathclaw) I thought that because the random encounters were all starting close that somehow I had broken the alpha 5.3 changes and reverted to vanilla distance, as I was pretty sure the critters were spawning farther away in random encounters before I altered my save?

I don't think random encounter spawn distance would be a side-effect of a broken save. But, thank you, I know which encounter that is and I'll see if I need to modify the values.

And yeah I lowered Rad-X amount to make it take more than 2 to be immune.

EDIT: Also, if your Perception was hosed due to addiction/withdrawal, that could also be the cause. In Fallout, spawn distance in random encounter is usually something like "2 hexes + PER/2" that sort of thing. So if your PER was like 1 or something, that makes a big difference.

Ah, ok that was the issue then, I did go down to a 1 perception for most of the trip back to BOS, that explains it. I just was not sure what F1se was saving or overwriting when I altered the radiation level on my character. I was contemplating starting an entirely new game with Fallout Fixt 7.1 but I think I should be safe now. Thanks for the help.

edit: I liked the Rad-x changes it always seemed too easy to have enough rad-x and resistance, but for the life of me I could not find more than 2x rad-x (Vance) at the Hub before going of to the glow, and I did not have the patience to search all over for more.

So, everything else seems to be working, except that loot the super mutant post deathclaw mission in the hub I get a reference error. It seems to be tied to the holotape itself, as I can talk to him or kill him with no problem, but I can't loot him. It could be the other holotape in my inventory. I'm about to test this theory.

Don't worry about it. Long story short, holodisk issues will go away with engine conversion :nod:

One thing that would be cool to add to Fallout after the engine conversion would be "new" locations. Instead of being teleported to the Rad Scorpion Cave outside of Shady Sands maybe it could be a separate location that you have to travel to. And the same with that mutant in that cave outside of The Hub aswell as that farm outside of The Hub which is taken over by raiders.

You know in Fallout 2 there are threee different lacation markers on the world map, normal, medium and small. So i was thinking if the Rad Scorpion Cave could be like these Toxic Caves on this image:

The reason would be that the world map would feel less empty if you added a number of smaller locations like these instead of being teleported there.
