Fallout Nuka World DLC trailer and information are online

Nuka-Cola had the best organic chemists in the world, and they were hired to devlop ways to augment the military's weapons to do more damage on organic targets.

How does this even make sense to you?

If I told you that Coca-Cola has the best organic chemists in the world, would you believe me? Then why would you believe a futuristic soft-drink from the future would have the best organic chemists in the world working on it? Couldn't ANY other company pay them a much higher salary?

I don't know. I'm going meta on this thing, because even if it "internally" makes sense, on the grand scale it doesn't, at all.

It does defy common sense or simple reasoning that Nuka Cola would have the best chemists in the world working for them, if that's true. The best chemists in any world would be working on research that isn't limited to a narrow and mundane field such as colas. In the end, it's just a drink. This isn't a flagrant lore addition or contradiction, but it's IMO another poor attempt at the black humor of Fallout.

Bottom line: Is this one DLC going to make the $100 Fallout 4 game worth it to people that definitely don't like Fallout 4? Yea, good luck with that...
No but it's so far the best Fallout 4 DLC. The only competitor here is Far Harbor since Automatron is too short and Workshops are shit no matter how you look at it.

Making something specifically designed to influence people isn't that different from making something specifically designed to influence people.
Gotcha!

How does this even make sense to you?
Same way the Vault Experiment, near everything in Fallout 2 ranging from Reno to Broken Hills to everything about the design/premise of the Enclave, shit like the Bright Followers, or the Atom Cult, the Legion being cosplaying Romans, all the dumb cosplaying factions in general fro mthe Khans to the Kings, Old Wold Blues in general, and lots of other incredibly stupid shit in Fallout makes sense.

Because its a game, its designed to be fun, and silly, and parody a lot of the 50's culture, and its not some edgy grimdark future like Warhammer 40K, or some try hard "realistic" game like CoD: Modern Warfare 1-37.

Also, distracting from problem A by bringing up problem B doesn't seem like a good way to justify the writing of the DLC (the DLC that I've yet to actually see, that is).

That isn't exactly a hard thing to accomplish lol.
Bethesda? For them it's an accomplishment and I can give them credit. Though now it feels like Fallout 4 is one big DLC to Nuka World.
I mean, the whole DLC goes on it's own wave with it's own story and raider gang management game which can contradict the whole Fallout 4 as a game. Which also creates a beautiful and sweet moment of Preston Garbage Butthurting himself over the fact that you are now a boss of not one but 2 or 3 raider gangs. Totally worth it. But it doesn't go without bitter. Preston is your companion, so you can't attack settlement with Garbage chilling his ass in. It's not good design decision.
And before someone'll ask, no. You cannot complete the game with the help of raiders from Nuka Town.

Honestly, everything you described still sounds like total garbage to me.

They made the most unpopular character in the entire franchise your companion? Yea good luck with that.

You become leader of yet another faction? Let me guess, it happens almost instantly.
Because its a game, its designed to be fun.
Then why isn't it?

And within the context of the Fallout unvierse, its entirely possible to suspend one's disbelief because the unvierse has always been designed that way.

The fact that you list all of those things as "problems" shows you lack the ability to suspend you disbelief at anything, and can only accept
>MUH REALISM
I don't think you actually understand what suspension of disbelief is.

Well it is internally consistent with everything we have seen thus far. Nuka-Cola had the best organic chemists in the world, and they were hired to devlop ways to augment the military's weapons to do more damage on organic targets.
It's still quite a stretch for food chemists to suddenly dip their hands into dabbling with nuclear and military research. Even if it involved a company like Nuka Cola, I still think it's quite a stretch for the military to pick a company known for soft drinks to design weapons of mass destruction for the military even if it is for organic targets. @Practicat puts it best, it's more like another poor attempt at the black humor of Fallout by saying that every corporation was under the control of the 'evulz' government amd that they were all involved in developing for the military.

Next you'll be telling me that the next step of development for Sugar Bombs were supposed to be the East Coast's equivalent of the Cloud.

The only people I've seen claim to need mental gymnastics to get it are the ones here. Even 4chan, which hs infamously shat over everything in Fallout 4 since it came out, has actually found Nuka World to be quite acceptable.
Way to go making claims without actual proof (a link would be nice). You'll have to concede that there is some mental gymnastics involved around wrapping one's head around the idea of a food company suddenly becoming mad military scientists in their spare time.

:eyebrow: I hate this excuse when it's used for the Fallout games. The Fallout games before 3 and 4 did not need to be a 'lulz' and 'funz' parody of 50s culture and could tell grim tales of adversity filled with black comedy balanced out with the human spirit triumphing over said adversity. Even if Fallout 2 went nuts with the humor, it still could maintain some form of internal consistency in their world (though the Vault Experiments should have been the exception rather than the norm for Vaults).

It's difficult to suspend disbelief when one set of stories have their established rules and the other decides to forget about those set of rules to make their own goofier stories in the same universe.

Then why isn't it?
I don't know, seems to be fun for plenty of people.

Maybe its because you have done near nothing but sit in an echo chamber, hug box, reminiscing about a mythical better version of Fallout that never actually existed, doing nothing but complaining about how everything is simply terrible in all ways, and thus have become emotionally jaded to the point you can't just sit back and enjoy a game as a game. You know the thing thats made NMA one of the most made fun of, and despised, websites on the Internet in general?

Kinda like 4chan.

Yep, and the devs are completely self-aware here. It's all a plan of one dude to dethrone a previous boss who became too lazy.
So if you stop playing Fallout 4, you'll be replaced by another player who is more willing to stay shackled to the game.

If they had this commentary in mind, that's some credit due.

Damn, I guess I just don't understand my own physiology :(

Fallout 4 is the lowest rated Fallout game and BGS game on Steam and is ahead of only Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel on Metacritic.

Not 'MUH REALISM', rather it's 'MUH INTERNAL CONSISTENCY' and 'MUH VERISIMILITUDE'. Jesus dude, this isn't complicated stuff, it's been firmly established since, well, since good writing has existed, but I like to relate to Tolkien for establishing a functional isolated universe.
If you write rules for a world then you should bloody well play by them, otherwise you're just that kid on the playground that makes up bullshit superpowers every time you beat him at a game ("No, you don't beat me cuz I'm a master nuke chemist!", "Nuh-uh! I have invincibility!").

The fact that you reference Tolkien in relation to Fallout just proves my point. You really have no ability to consider anything believable unless its like super hardcore grounded.

And again, this is following the rules of the universe. These have been the rules since forever. Near every major company was involved with military projects in one way or another since Fallout 1.

Also the
>VERISIMILITUDE
Meme is just that, a meme. Its not an argument in a series designed to be unreal by its nature.
