Fallout website up and Vision Statement revealed

So the Enclave, Super Muntants, Brotherhood of Steel are all on the East Coast... but different story, how's that go again?

Basically, they're stealing ideas from Fallout 1 + 2 and repackaging them. But it's a standalone story, so it's okay!
Sort of like how they're stealing ideas from Fallout Tactics while declaring it non-canon.

Is it just me, or does Todd "Why the F%@# are we making Fallout 3" Howard seem particularly eloquent in his "diary"? He doesn't sound HONEST, I'm just saying he seems more well-spoken than usual here. It's almost as if... hmm... someone else wrote the whole thing, perhaps? *cough* Marketing dept. *cough*

AlteredEgo, if you really don't know we so many people, uh, don't like (let's say) Todd.

I also never said "fantasy is riding a horse and killing things," but oh well.
By Todd in his lil' journal.

Woot!

Well, is there any Fallout fansite that doesn't have general negative expectations of Fallout 3? nope? Gosh, I wonder why... :?

That diary page would have made me much less pessimistic, that's IF I wasn't so used to the way information is spread around by Bethesda.I guess that's the general notion around, right? Time for the folks there to show something good about the game (for a change), concrete info, instead of promises of loving the franchise and making the game a true sequel... nobody is really buying that shit no more.

Overall that diary was very fun read ( Go Todd ! we love you! ), specially in the parts he tries to dismiss all the negative buzz there is around his persona.

I just like how he's trying to imply that Fallout 3 fits the original vision of Fallout. Yep, Bethesda sure do listen to the fans!
They listened when the fans said Fallout 3 isn't shaping up as a true sequel. Their response? Twist facts from long ago to their advantage!
Go go Todd, history rewriter.
What next? Maybe Chaucescu style photo insertions of Todd into pics of the original development team?

Bethesda pretty much blacklisted all the star trek fansites when they were making and releasing legacy as well. No surprise, but it's just really odd that they are so close minded to the fans of the original games. I think that is part of the reason they catch so much flak.

I can't believe that this is listed as an advantage:
Blast ‘Em Away With V.A.T.S.! – Even the odds in combat with the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System for your Pip-Boy Model 3000! V.A.T.S. allows you to pause time in combat, target specific body parts on your target, queue up attacks, and let Vault-Tec take out your aggression for you. Rain death and destruction in an all-new cinematic presentation.

1. Mega levels of violence. "When people die, they don't just die – they get cut in half, they melt into a pile of goo, explode like a blood sausage, or several different ways – depending on the weapon you use."

Unfortunately, this is the only thing Todd and Pete stay true to....

Gone are turn-based combat, isometric view, killable npc, skill-based action (stealing, dialog, sneak).

I like the site. It contains some pretty nice artwork and easy to navigate through. Good work.

On the other hand I think it's sad that we have such bad relations with beth. As a member of nma I'll probably keep coming here for news, because you guys deliver one way or the other. But knowing that you're probably not getting it directly from the source is just plain sad. You're the onces who's been waiting for 10 years.

I also missed that feeling I should have gotten when I visited the site for the first time. Something similar to "Finally! The wait is over!!1!", but it was more like "oh, it's up". Why?

no you don't have to answer that

I think he meant what happened to AlteredEgo's posts that were already here; they seem to have been deleted, since several people in this thread have quoted him and replied to things he's said, but there are no posts of his present.

Why are they using the original Fallout logo? Thought this was Fallout 3

In case you missed it, Bethesda been sneaking into it being mentally their franchise, as well as legally. In their preference, the world would forget about this foolish Tim Cain and his weird gamedesign and think of Fallout as the game Bethesda created.

I missed this too. Where's the patch for FO1 and 2 that adds Bethesda's logo at startup?
