Yeah that Tumblr bait isn't going to fly with those that have at lest two brain cells to rub together but I still wouldn't be surprised if they used that as well as the polygamy thing as an excuse for why people hate Fallout 4(We are just closed minded shitlords!) instead of its awful story, UI, bugs, dialogue, poor optimization and idiotic AI.
Experience from kill quests. That's what all their quest seem to be about "Go to this location, clear it of hostiles". They point you to the places you can build settlements and they are an Endgame path of getting the same Cutscene as the other 3 factions. All factions seem to just be Kil lquest dispensers. All the BOS quests about clearing zones. There is one about recovering Missing troops Mission Holotapes (sounds familiar?) and fromthe looks of the quest markers they are just in the middle of more Enemy infested ruins.
It's like poetry, it rhymes. Also, I remember the New Vegas holotape retrieval missions were cleverly tied in with other faction quests and/or areas of interest so that experienced players could feasibly plan ahead and cut down on some unnecessary back and forth. Fuck all that though... KILL!!
Ah it seems as Battlecross is trying too hard, look you need to relax and realized Bethesda screwed up. Who in their right mind thinks doing 1-3 quests to become leader is fleshed out? They lied to people on Twitter from what it seems as well from what Walpknut is saying, they keep digging that hole deeper and deeper.
Who said anything about fleshed out? He said "1 quest" only, it wasn't and considering it in context it isn't a problem in game. You wish I was. Then someone would actually like you! Also who you're responding to is hilarious in context to what I'm posting there by the way.
I think that those aren't mutually exclusive. Like the lack of intricate quests or fleshed out NPCs is really due to writing, and writing is pretty much the least expensive part of game development. The Codsworth thing is simply a matter of coming up with a list of names and paying an actor to stand in a studio and read them off for a few hours. Coming up with a list of names is cheaper than writing a script and two hours in the studio is going to cost the same whether you're reading the phone book or Hamlet. I do think that the idea that someday you'll be able to play a game as a character that looks just like you and has your name and everybody calls that character by their name is something worth pursuing, and before you can pull it the right way you have to make incremental steps. So I don't mind that Bethesda recorded a bunch of names, I'm just slightly miffed that they decided to validate immature choices rather than just having more people's names. Like you could have gotten away with just Fuckface and Boobie (Anthony "Boobie" Dixon is a running back for the Buffalo Bills) and recorded a half-dozen common names instead of all those other ones.
I'll never forget the shit I had to go thru in Fallout 1 and New Vegas just to become a member of the Brotherhood of Steel, nevermind the leader of a freakin' chapter. That and I loved how the different factions of New Vegas offered me actual incentives and reasons for joining them. NCR and House of course threw money at me, as well as idealistic jingoism and a grand plan for the future, respectively. Caesar used an interesting mix of historical knowledge, philosophy, and downright intimidation in an attempt to win me over. Depending on your character, you could respond appropriately. Some of my more venal characters go with House and/or NCR. My more idealistic ones often go the Yes Man route, and my Legion gal was completely agog by Caesar's philosophical musings. What motivation do the Minutemen offer the player character for joining them?
well they tell you where to get power armor in the first 5 minutes outside the vault.. that has to be worth something.. wait.. there are power armors scattered everywhere.
They better not. Fallout 4 makes it literally impossible to play as a Gay character, from the bullshit plot centred around your characters hetero relationship baggage, and the removal of cherchez la femme/confirmed bachelor while still keeping the heterosexual equivalents. In many regards Fallout 4 is a huge step back from the other games, especially NV. Nah, they'll probably just blame it on Obsidian purists 'refusing to accept change', like that's a bad thing when the changes are so unnecessary and terrible
How come Biscuits and Gravy didn't grab it for himself... or any of the other Minutemen for that matter? You would think that would be a valuable asset and all. Nope, leave it sitting in the middle of the woods for the Wasteland Messiah for when he thaws out. What a turd.
Last time I played I already had 3 Fusion cores, Maybe I should go equip the power armor to make the game even easier.
Just for the sake of having more context, here's the tweet. https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/663702631966236672?ref_src=twsrc^tfw Pretty much spot on except for the idiot part.
New user here, though a fan of this site for years. And... as of the topic of factions in Fallout 4, I've just seen a video featuring a gang called the "Gunners". No, not Gun Runners, apparently, they are completely unrelated. Their name is just... Gunners. I know it seems like petty to harp on something so minor, but I think it perfectly highlights the bigger issue I have with this game: It's so uninspired it's sad to watch.
There is another called the "Triggermen". All we need now is one called the Cannoneers or the Muzzlers.
Maybe they're rivals to the Atomic Yipe Stripes, or whatever the hell they're called--the "coolest power armor gang in the Commonwealth." Welcome, by the way, though I'm still fairly new myself.
That's why New Vegas was a good role playing game, it involved actual role playing. You want to be gay, bisexual, a hetero dude who's good at seducing both sexes, or a murderous asexual weirdo with a terminal disgust for the human body? Yup, all of that and much more. Not in Fallout 4 apparently.
