First round of Fallout 4 Reviews

Oh, I have that guy on ignore like all the other Fallout 3 funbois.

Here's a little background info for "kostjamoscow" :He's a 21 year old Russian hipster who thinks that his evaluation of Fallout 3 when he was 15 was nuanced enough to continue to support that shitty game's next release. Thanks for proving my point, and you're still ignored.

Shouldn't be saying stuff like that. Yes, I think his posts are all pretty stupid but that's that's just because he really doesn't make any sense and then backs them up with fallacious arguments. Don't attack the person. This stuff kinda gives this forum a bad rep.

The 4.5 review form the Escapist is what this game deserves. And I'm not saying this because I hate Bethesda and their games because they got what they deserved, a mediocre rating for a mediocre game. I only wish more awful games would get the same treatment so that the developers and corporate assholes get off their ass and start making better games.

Torrenting now.

Umm that's a 4.5 out of 5.

So basically 9/10

You don't think that's a 4.5 out of 10 do you? Because it's actually a 4.5 out of 5. Are you saying the game deserves a near perfect score? Or am I misinterpreting something here?

So, at least, Bethesda has learnt something from Obsidian. The whole "choose between different factions with their own interests" thing sounds too familiar.

As always, it's most interesting to read the reviews with scores of 75 and lower.
What I find interesting is that many reviewers see the new additions (cut dialogues, settlement building, simplified RPG mechanics) as drawbacks. At the same time, many of them complain that there's "nothing revolutionary". So the new stuff is done wrong and the old stuff doesn't work that good anymore.

No perfect scores of 10 from the more reputable sites, because this is not a perfect game.

And that's ok. It doesn't have to be the perfect game. A 9 on Metacritic is still amazing. We all know that the technical issues are there as with every Bethesda game, that alone is why it shouldn't get a 10.

But overall really excited about what the reviewers say. Going to the night lauch at my local game store tonight.

Why would you stay out in the cold for a fucking peace of shit wrapped in a plastic case? I don't understand this mentality of staying in line like fucking idiots for piece of plastic. What the fuck lol.

Oh shit, I didn't actually go read the article, I just saw the score OP posted.

From Digital Foundry's graphics analysis/comparison:

9.5 game on console, everyone.
Dear lord. Well I'll be playing it on PS4 due to my computer now being a stagnant aging beast. Though my sister is buying it for me tonight at a lame launch party so it's at no loss to me plus it comes with a free blanket at Hasting Entertainment. So bonus. I do expect pretty much the Fallout 3 console experience this go around. Slow as balls loading times, bugs, frame drops, crashes and freeze ups, same as last time. My only hope for the game is maybe they did slide some neat shit in there somewhere. Kinda like the Dunwich building in Fallout 3, but alas hopes are low. Also my biggest expectation is just an average game. Even if viewed as FINO, it's still just gonna be a meh of a time.

First off,I'm big fan of Bethesda games for what they are.Their strengths and weaknesses are obvious to (I think)everyone, but from the feedback from regular game folk and some of these reviews. I defiantly know I will truly enjoy this game! A lot of people here are bitching about these high and decent scores, but at the end of the day, isn't about if the game is fun are not...right? A game can still be fun with bad or average writing and bugs right? Sorry folks the glory days of(they were good btw)Fallout are gone...forever most likely. As you were.

At last, a game where crafting is a major gameplay element!

A game can still be fun with bad or average writing and bugs right?

Well...yeah. I mean this could just as easily describe Fallout 2. Maybe not so much "bad writing" as "rooms full of nothing" and "unfinished", and definitely broken as all hell. Was it also fun? It's always fun to hoard ammo and get shot in the back by an overzealous super mutant. If I'd known how I would feel about it after 15 years of community patches I'd not have traded the game back to EB for store credit a month after launch. (Maybe.)

So... maybe some mods will make F4 desirable. They certainly helped F3 and NV a lot.

Yeah the glory days of Fallout are gone. That's why Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Age of Decadence and many others were so successful right?

No, the game isn't "fun" if there are so many glaring flaws and bugs right in your face. Even mindless shooting that BGS fanboys for some reason love so much can become mundane as it's just shooting super mutant after super mutant and raider after raider with some occasional questing or story or some really dumb shit that BGS decides to throw at you instead. Yes I agree the game could be fun with bad or average writing but NOT bugs. You could even go as far as to say the game COULD be fun with absolutely shitty writing, shitty story, shitty gameplay, shitty setting/worldbuilding/soundtrack/characters but if there's one thing that ruins fun it's game breaking bugs.

I believe you will only enjoy this game if you turn your mind off and not read a single line, skip all of it, speed through every settlement without giving two fucks about it, how people live there, how people survive there, etc.

E: In the end I guess you could say that the game is fun once all the bugs get fixed since their environments are pretty cool so I guess exploration in that sense is fun. Even then it remains to be seen if this is the case in Fallout 4. To be honest there were some problems in their environments either looking too new or in some areas looking very generic.
