From E3 untill now, Can you honestly tell me what we know of Fallout 4 objectively?

I do wonder, if Bethesda's Fallout once again changes in the future in such a way that it is not to the current audience' liking and they are told by the new fans to 'let go', are you all going so sympathetic and understanding as I sort of get the idea you all claim to be.
Or are you perhaps going to be pissed that something you like a lot, put much thought into, and plays an important role in things you consider to be good, is now mangled to appease a bunch of people who previously couldn't give a shit about because it did not appeal to their fickle tastes, and who just live from current hype to the next current hype, never ever having fucking shred of an own identity other than what marketing people tell them they should have at that moment.

I last saw an television add for dolls targeted at little girls and one of the slogans it used was basically that you should be your own individual. I don't know if that was just some stupid marketing selection or that there might be a hint of sarcasm from the marketing team behind it.

The reality is sometimes it takes extreme actions to get many to pay attention to what you're talking about. If you're coy about something you don't like, you're probably not going to attract attention to your views. That isn't to say that you should remain that way.

If the series were to change to something I didn't like, and this is just me, I would just move on. Or play the version I do actually like. I have already done so with a series I enjoyed greatly in the past, but now has features that I don't care for. I don't buy any games in the franchise, and they certainly don't miss me, because by buying it I am telling them I like it. If asked my opinion about the series, I give it. When the latest version comes out I ask if they changed the features I disliked back to what I did. If the answer is "no", I know not to waste my time.

I get that many here love the series in its original format, and rightly with good reason. I never played them, and I won't because they do not sound like something I want to play. I played 3 and NV, I found 3 more to my liking. It isn't better or superior (in my opinion), it just appeals to me more. Were the stories more in depth in NV? Yes. Did it play out in a more complex way? Yes. I did find however that Ceasar's Legion was just plain silly and one of the things that really disliked about the game. I don't know exactly why I like 3 more, I just do. Maybe its because I can lose myself in its world, and it doesn't frustrate me as much as NV does. NV is certainly more difficult, for me, but I have enough challenges in my every day work life that having to negotiate the political intricacies of a fictional universe when I have spent the day negotiating with various companies that wish to use the services my company provides is just too mentally exhausting. I play games to relax and have fun, and 3 is just more fun for me.

I mainly came here because I find the rabid fanaticism with which most post with to be humorous. I often wonder if Bethesda had not used the title "Fallout 3" and had instead used something like "Fallout: DC", and made it clear that it was going to be their interpretation of the Fallout universe based in part on the lore of the original series if fans of the originals would dislike it so intensely. To me that seems to be more what they actually did, and perhaps should have stated that as from everything I learn from reading about the originals, it seems Bethesda did in fact leave much of what you all liked behind.

I am excited for Fallout 4, I hope it lives up to my expectations. If not, I'll state as much, and move on to another game and forum.

The FPS Xcom, Resident Evil 6 and the New Alone in the Dark, those titles got gamers supposedly "righteously angry" at the corruption of the legacy of said franchises, but Bethesda removing all Skills and turning dialogue into Mass Effect gets people making excuses for them and just telling people to not care and move on...

The dialog thing does have me a little concerned. I like to know exactly what my character is going to say, not guess at it with a shortened version that is basically nice, mean, neutral, and ask question. I also like the option to read and click through if I don't want to listen to the NPC talk. Moira comes to mind as the most annoying character in 3, and one I wish I could have slit her throat. Not shoot her, slit her throat and watch her die.

Was that too much?

I love how these things have to be the same or else they're not valid or something. Are you saying Fallout fans should be like Metroid fans wanted Metroid as a series to end because they don't like the new entry? Oh wait.

Again, I love RE 1-2-3-4 and to a degree 5 and haven't played 6. I don't like Code Veronica but it doesn't make me freak and pretend I own the franchise and it must be what I want. Anyone who acts that entitled is foolish regardless of the franchise it is. They all sound like petulant children and should move on if they don't like it.

If this someone-else you're speaking about would have made a first person shooter like Bethesda? Than yeah, you can bet your ass on it that we would not have really liked it. But if no clue, a company like Obsidian got it and made it in the spirit of Pillars of Eternity or Wasteland 2? Who knows! So it just remains speculation.

And you're right about one thing. Who fucking cares what NMA thinks and does if we are excited or not. But apparantly YOU care enough to register here and to tell us to stop listening to it and paying attention and that we should move on ... seriously, why are you posting here again?

I post here because I feel like it, do I need your permission or something?

No, you can post where ever you want. But telling people to "let go" in here is probably one of the fastest way to get labeled as troll. Hey, I am just trying to warn you that your attitude won't get you any respect here and always picking fights for no reason got people also banned here a couple of times, because we heard that stuff a billion times already ... like yes we know Bethesda, the World, gaming etc. doesn't care about us. Big deal! Like we ever demanded attention. Sadly it's usually not that we go around preaching, but that very often People register here to lecture us. NMA? Oh that is this shitty place where everyone hates the new Fallouts! Seeing us as some kind of hive mind or what ever ...

How is telling people to let go trolling? If you don't like new entries in a franchise, simply ignore it no matter what it is. Acting angry and clinging on for eternity makes absolutely no sense to me. If you're moved to action, make your own games!

To act like you don't care what people think is silly too, many complainers directly try to change the franchise based on their tastes and plead with Bethesda to do so.

If you don't see how that could be considered trolling around here - if you constantly get in to fights about it - than I am afraid there is no way how I can explain it to you.

Go to the Bethesda board and tell everyone with every post you make how you despise Fallout 4 and how Bethesda should change to be exactly like Fallout 1, and see how far you will get.

See, there is usually a certain tone that each forum has, like how most people on the Beth forum naturally are in favour of Bethesda. That is absolutely no problem! And I am not complaining about that. Most people here for example are one way or another in favour of F1. Such a thing is to be expected, if I go to Rome, than you would of course find a lot of Romans, that behave mostly like Romans. No?

If you constantly post negative stuff about Bethesda on the official Beth forum the moderators might consider to kick you at some point. And the same can happen here.

Thing is I have yet to see really one post of yours that is not at least trying to stir some useless debate or a certain reaction or posting a comment we havn't heard already a thousand times. Like "you have to let go at some point" or "Thiz is opinionz!" or what ever ...

We usually can accept a lot of different view points, even those that conflict with the general tone of the forum, but you have to do more than always picking the same fights that we've seen so often. If we spend most of our time circle jerking around how awesome F1 is and how bad F3 and how bad F4 will be, than this is completely our thing.

Okay, well you might need to look in a mirror if you think the problem is only those who come here and not the regular posters. I wouldn't have argued with anyone had a certain someone not began being as abrasive as humanly possible. I make plenty of non-argumentative posts, and half get hijacked into arguments which isn't my fault.

So if you can't handle arguments, don't argue constantly. Instead of dragging this out endlessly, lets drop it and move on!

I wonder how Pete Hines truly thinks of Fallout 4. He's not involved in the development of it as he's in charge of marketing for Bethesda, but he's pretty much played just about all of it. We will probably never know (For example, he's not going to admit rewarding SPECIAL stats at 1 is stupid.), but I thought it was an interesting thought.

Some of us care about stuff. I know it's edgy and cool to not care about anything these days, I get it. But for those of us who are passionate about stuff, we hate to see it twisted and changed to an almost unrecognizable state.

It's the two most obvious braindead cop outs during a discussion, first appeal to subjectivity, when it fails just appeal to nihilism.

This thread reminded me why I loved NMA during Fallout 3 development and release.

And the answer to the OP's broad question is quite easily resolved. It was obvious that they had a different question in mind, or perhaps aren't quite sure what "objectively" actually means.

Finally, I think most are missing the point that Battlecross is attempting to put forth. The "steak analogy" is disingenuous (while at the same time being self congratulatory). The Black Isle/Interplay Fallout and Bethesda Fallout are both different cuts of steak. These are objective measures (since we seem to like throwing that word around). The quality of each is not.

Hmm, No. I used the term objectively in relation to the fact i wanted to separate speculation from facts. Had i not, we may indeed have people just discussing rumors of android plot twist, or people like Marty speculating perks of whatever.

Regardless, it's been months and we have no idea of how the true game will be presented. We have nothing but buffed up trailers that don't give us any understanding other than we know they gimped skills, removing it entirely. We have no idea of the story, confirmed factions for sure. At least i haven't seen shit about any of them other than people making claims. Even if we knew the names, we don't know any motives and if they are friendly and what not.

Well, all I know is that there's a fifty-fifty chance that when I open my Fallout 4 case it'll give me tetanus.

They haven't said it wouldn't, so I have no way to know.

There's plenty of both out there.

What does that mean? If you are looking for plot points they said from day one that they were going to play things close to their chest with this release; is it a far cry from their usual strategy? Absolutely. I'm sure that frustrates a lot of their fans (and foes), however I appreciate a developer with an old school sensibility when it comes to what they choose to release - especially since Bethesda makes a certain kind of game and we shouldn't be at all surprised about what it'll look like when it arrives.

Do you lament the removal of the Skill Tab or the individual skills themselves? And what could you do before in 1/2/3/NV that you (think) can not do now?

So you do want them to just lay out plot points at your feet. Why? Do you go into a movie wanting to know who is alive halfway through or which character is actually a bad guy or not?
