Furries in NMA

And gays or serbians get neither "opressed". Not directly. You have laws against such situations.

I think you need to look up the meaning of the word oppressed. Unless the violence or threat of violence is consistent, they are not being "oppressed" in any real sense of the word. Just manhandled. Or insulted.
Youre probably right with that.

from what I understand so far (I think?) Su's point is aiming more at the individual in "furries" which I guess is alright. I got somewhat confused from the posts above. Its a bit hard in this thread to identify who's serious and who not with many of the "I like furries less then gays but they are all sick" or so comments.

I mean, when it comes to sitations like the sexuality its still somewhat strange and complicated today. You have a lot of usual rights and it looks fine on the surface cause at lesat here in Germany its less likely that one would fire you for exammple just cause of sexuality but I notice when I talk with people that never have meet any gays they still tend very fast to generalise (and fall back in old sterotypes). Particularly some of the east european/balkan people I know seem to have serious issues to even just see a gay person as usual human leave alone a "furry" (and I would assume most furries have usual lifes). But thats just from my individual experience with people and talking about it. It seems to be like a "gross" topic for them. I dont know. It still seems to make people uncomfortable to just talk about it without thinking about "gay sex".

Oppressed can also mean being denied rights or equal protection/opportunity but I'm with you, furries are not being oppressed. That said they are pretty hated for who knows what reason. The ones who constantly complain about being persecuted (ie the ones who whine, some go about pointing out the criticism in a fine manner) are fucking annoying but there's just as much or more of the opposite crap ("Yiff in hell furfag") being flung at them so I hate both groups for being obnoxious.
As usualy UG finds the correct words. can only agree with that.

I think even the average furry agrees this is pretty idiotic. But what the hell, people believe stupid shit, and again, rule of thumb is, as long as you keep it away from me and don't hurt anybody I don't give a shit.

I cosider that insane, but as long as this particular trait doesn't interfere with day to day life (also knows as "Tumbles The Stair Dragon Syndrome") it doesn't bug me that much.

The problem with furries is that people extrapolate their opinion from a handful of batshit insane, vocal furfags instead of the fandom as a whole. Its the same with NMA - people perceive us as an order of crazy nerds, based on the posts of a retarded minority.

I consider that insane
yet, you are hurt when i call furries plain stupid? you jumped a few steps and went right to batshit insane. now now now, that's some double standards there.

you mean furfags like you, posting furry porn at the most unexpected moments in the most unexpected threads, right?

don't act like you're a nice civilised furry that cares about the furry image now, Mikael...

Listen, I probably phrased it wrong but no, i'm not against homosexuality( I have a few friends who are gay). In terms of the furry fetish i'm not against it nor hate people who enjoy it. I just don't fully understand it.

The dressing thing up is a bit much though.

And the theory of otherkins is retarded(it falls under religion, and as an atheist, I find all religions ridiculous)

Well, there is a difference between games of a sexual nature, and people actually believing they're not really people.

well, one could be catalogued as a behavioral defect, the other as a creed. ;)

just a matter of perspective. and of course i'm just doing my best to annoy our resident furry figure head.

I never claimed I'm the best and most representative furry. Quite to the contrary.

I'm nice, but not really civilised, no.

I flash my genitals at grannies during Masses.

What is interesting to me is how Asian cartoons or anime/manga are even subject to a furry discussion.

Asian mythology and folklore has always been filled with animals turning into humans, vice versa and somewhere in between. Sometimes even non living household objects can be given anthropic like qualities. Umbrellas, sandals, foxes, snakes, etc are all famous examples. Hinduism is filled with Gods that has animal + human shapes and forms.

So how is it surprising that animes/mangas have characters like these? And why would they create /influence the furries at all?

Anyway, personally, I don't think it's weird or even uncommon to give anthropic qualities to non-humans. Humans only know how to associate/communicate with other humans. We give them human emotions and ideas because we can't really think outside of human qualities. A lot of aliens are given human emotions and so on in sci-fi because otherwise we can't really sympathize or even care what they do at all.

As for furries, well, people do what they want in order to be happy, and as long as they aren't like the peta people that attacks chefs for using animal parts, I don't got a problem with it.

I suppose you all never heard of Clinical Lycanthropy? Not saying that these rare insane people are furries, or that all furries have this disorder.
well you know, I have never meet any person in my life so far who did not had at least "some" kind if dissorder.

Everyone has his issues, we just usualy tend to call it "personality" or "character" cause its not strong enough while the psychotherapist might say something different.

Theres a big difference between most furries and that. It's kind of like larping or playing RPGs or videogames. Its all fun and good until you go too far.

Like biting people....

thems fighting words.... but since there is no reasonable way to dissagree with you I'll drop it over there on the couch. *Bites his thumb at you*

But yeah, dressing up once in a while is fun... some do it all the time and thats kinda weird. Goes back to Clinical Lycanthropy. So long as they don't bite me I'm happy.

Did you not like Halloween as a kid? What did you think of Halloween parties once you got older? I think all of the hatred for people who wear costumes is pretty ridiculous as it's all in good fun to dress up and hang out with other people who dress up.

It's rather funny how uncommon sexual preferences are ridiculed by people who probably never get any booty in the first place.

How is that funny, and on what information you base your assumption?

Being a furry is not having 'uncommon sexual preferences', it's a clear sign that you have fucking issues.

I like to tie my woman up and do naughty things to her.

And she likes it.

We're freaks too.

I was never a fan of being tied up, personally. It might be because I'm not really flexible, have never had a woman that makes being tied up "fun", or perhaps it's just because I'm really dominate.

I also have a friend who is a furry. He does not talk about his furry fetishes. Ever. The only reason I found out is because he joined the Fur-Affinity group on STEAM and I asked.

Never bothered me. I'm sure there are plenty of people who think my woman enjoying wax play or being spanked, choked or blindfolded is weird. Or hell, I once dated a woman who was into BLADE PLAY.

My eyes were like o_O

So... out of curiosity, we know Mikael "is" a cougar and Ah-Teen "is" a dragon, what about the rest of you furries? What animals are you? Squirrel? Sea cucumber?

Fursona's and other kin are two different beasts. The former is more like an alias (sometimes used for roleplaying) while the latter is the belief that one is spiritually an animal or mythical creature.
Mikael seems to have a fursona of a cougar while Ah-Teen both has a fursona of a dragon and is spiritually a dragon.

If a person isn't an artist, doesn't roleplay, and doesn't cosplay, they have very little need for fursona so I would think that there are a reasonable number of furries who don't have fursonas. I thought that I had read something about it in one of those studies but I'm too lazy to check.
