Good movie, really appreciate the ambition and think it's a very sweet and well told story.
It feels a little bit schizo in presentation, where it throws way too many plot points at you, brings out character arcs out of nowhere, has weird pacing, handles ideas on a massive scale seemingly out of nowhere, and has both scenes where you're not sure if it's a joke or not, and scenes which are meant to be serious but just come off really hilariously.
But like, this weird presentation doesn't feel bad, so much as it feels hyperactive. Like the film is just way too excited and over the top about too many things at once, and it's quite charming.
Also I can't figure out whether the whole thing about Dane's "complicated family history" going back to the Middle Ages was actually an important build up to something, or a really extended Game of Thrones joke.

This guy is my favorite youtuber now. I like his points and video structure. His animations for his avatar are also really nice. Stop motion kinda vibe, but cleaner.
This thing is fucking terrible, I thought it was only gonna be bad scriptwise but probably have good production values, but holy shit, it seems I was too optimistic.
"I am not sure if he looks manly and mean enough"
"You think that topless appearance, white hair and stiff look is not enough?"
"No"
"I know! Lets give him a Desert Eagle!"
"Brilliant!"
There is a scene where he does the typical anime swordman thing of killing someone with a quick strike and the camera focuses on the blood splatter to sell the "quickness" and to be stylish, but the way it was cut was downright embarrassing.

This live action series is just bad. Like no redeeming qualities, everything is just a worse version of beautiful scenes just like that Death Note Netflix movie.
Cowboy Bebop is the only non-Ghibli anime I've watched and it remains one of my favorite tv shows of all time, i dont think i'll taint my view of it by watching the live action.
It's a bit overrated but it's still good, I prefer Watanabe's other series to it like Samurai Champloo, Space Dandy and Carole & Tuesday but Bebop is still good, great style, animation and music. Not this live action shit tho.
Yeah I wouldn't say it's impeccably good or whatever but it just ticks the exact right boxes for me (Bluegrass, jazz, rusty space setting, westerns, mercenary protagonists) that it makes it into my top estimations because it's just damn cool
