General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Dragon Quest 9. It's okay. Not full of itself like a Final Fantasy game but a little more like an older Dragon Quest game. Well, I did like Dragon Warrior 1,2 and 3 back in the day and this is very similar. It's entertaining and a little fun. Not bad. So far would be a 7/10. Pretty good.

Still Thief Gold on and off with C&C: Tiberian Sun.

I was doing a mission in Tiberian Sun, completed objective 1, objective 2 was "destroy all nod forces". It took me half an hour to find the one little vehicle on the map which was semi-invisible just to finish the mission. :?

3/4 the way through Chrono Trigger, so I figured I'd hop on the bandwagon and give SC2 a quick try.

My impression after 3 missions:

It's polished for sure (that's one word you'll hear thrown around a LOT when the reviews start coming in), but so far it has failed to really 'wow' me. Besides the grating southern accents, the plot hasn't bored me yet and the dialog (which there is a lot of, if you bother going after it in the post-mission intermissions) is fairly interesting.

The graphics are about on par with Red Alert 3. They aren't remarkable in any way, but they get the job done. The animations are pretty cool though.

I'll probably check out the multiplayer in a week or so, once a few cool custom maps get released (skirmish-style play bores me to no end).

Maybe I'll see a remake of my old #1 favorite, Sunken Defense.

tried League of Legends last night (spiritual successor of Defence of the Ancients). it's defintely a fun way to waste an hour or two, and free to play.

thinking of getting Starcraft 2 sometime next week, but I can't make up my mind if it's worth it. I'm not that big on RTS games but I would still like to check it out.

First game I ever played, replaying it now for nostalgia reasons, and holy shit the people who made this game must have been higher then I am now when they made this fucking game.

exam in t-20h, 4h -> giving the finger to phase transmission grating and similar crap -> cleaning my apartment -> driving back here -> turning on the AC, calling GF, turning off my cell, getting something good to drink -> starting my SC2.

sound like a plan.

Bought Alpha Protocol yesertday. Just played the first part of the game. seems to be interesting. I'll post some more impressions after i am done with the game.

Minecraft. I couldn't stop building, so I was like "Hmm, better save this." "You can only save when you purchase the full copy!" "WHAT? FFFFFUUUUUUU-"

Anyways, I was trying to create a skyscraper, with individual levels. My first time playing it, it was so addicting.

That looks incredible! The driver's baked.

DL-ing Alien Swarm via Steam. Heard it's a great co-op game and some of my friends are playing it, so why not give it a try? Other than that I finally got into Vampire: Redemption. Boy this game is helluva dungeon crawl - all mission up until and including Tremere Chantry are a 2-3 levels and then Boss fight dungeons (and goddamn the bosses are tough). Fortunatly the story is good to make up for it.

How is it on a x/10 scale? I played Bloodlines and must say I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Sometimes the gameplay would get a bit slow, but overall it was a great game.

Vampire: Redemption is nothing like Bloodlines. It's basically a third-person hack-and-slash game with a fairly weak story.

Yeah, I've gathered as much from videos and screenshots. But the reviews go from 6.5/10 for mediocrity to a full 10/10 and being 'one of the most underrated games'. I'd give it a shot, but the mixed reviews make me doubtful...

Whoa I loved playing the Magic School Bus games when I was young. Wonder if they have stood the test of time.
Also yea it was pretty weird.

Finished Dragon Age: Origins. I thought this game was supposed to be grimdark, but instead I got a bunch of snarky assholes telling me to not to do bad things or they will kill me.

It's pretty fun, but nothing spectacular. 7\10 for now, 'cause of the dungeon crawling. Also, it's way too easy to frenzy, I'm now at a Tremere chantry and all enemies have fire-based attacks that make my party go nuts after a few hits and then go kill each other. And the bosses are way too hard.

Diablo 2 and loving it.
Cool! I recently re-installed it too. You play Ladder too?

No, man. Normal character. LoD expansion + patch 1.13.

I'm a horrible n00b at Diablo 2. I bought it when it hit the shelves, but couldn't get into it unlike so many other people. The lack of a normal save system, a ridiculously small stash space, ... it was enough to put me off for many, many months. Then I played through the first three acts once with a Barbarian, but I found myself grinding for experience and gave up.

The necromancer is much more my kind of character. Laid back action, that's me. I'm close to the end of Act 2 now, everything's still going smoothly, level 20.

Try out playing with 8 players difficulty via /players 8. I think that was the command right? It's very fun that way, at least to me.

I have a little request. Don't know from where the thought came, but I recently remembered some game I played years ago (a demo).
It is some kind of 3rd person shooter, in a horror scenario or some sort. I think it has something with "devil" in its name and I dunno if memory serves me well, it was some kind of "TV" show in which the game plays.. Unfortunately I don't know anymuch else about it... Maybe some of you guys know the name of the game?
