General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

really dissliked the controls

Same here that's what brought the frustration in the beginning but once you get used to them they are not so bad. Pretty amazing game so far except for the retard who decided to join our game just to kill a random ally

ArmA II really is the spiritual successor of Operation Flashpoint, i greatly enjoyed playing it since ArmA was crap. It's kinda hardware hungry though.

Bought WoW again (Back on the wagon for the third time) with three friends when that $20 for WoW+TBC+WoTLK sale hit.

The old world revamp is awesome, but hitting 58 and shipping off to Outlands now feels disappointing after how great and streamlined everything on Azeroth has become.

Currently playing diablo 2 with my brother,. The last time i played it previously, was about 6 years ago. I have to say that it's still a blast to play it on hardcore, though dying is not :D.

Just played though the entirity of Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare in 1 roughly 11 hour sitting. What with recent editions of uni and something resembling a social life I haven't had a chance to go all out with a game like this for awhile. It was nice, though psychology while this is probably the biggest DLC I've played it does feel a little wasted since I got though it so fast. Oh well.

As for the DLC itself it's really good. Personally I was pretty sceptical when I first heard the idea of sticking zombies in RDR but it actually works pretty well. The whole thing feels like a Tree House of Horror simpsons episode. Plus zombies just fit in the old west, makes it feels a lot more dangerous for one thing.

Story isn't as good as the original game but it did have a LOT to live up to and it's not half bad anyhow. Voice acting is still some of the best I've heard in a game. Some of the things I didn't like about RDR's story crop up again however, mainly characters I don't like sticking around for way too long (West Dickens) and characters I really like not sticking around long enough (Seth, the old slinger). Some never make an appearance at all to my knowledge, like Irish, which is a damn shame.

Gameplay wise it's pretty interesting, if easy. Zombies can only be killed with head shots, which would make things hectic if it wasn't for dead eye, which saves my arse everytime. When i die it's usually by chance or though a dumb accident. It does feel very different from the classic games combat; cover is now completely useless. It's better to climb onto high ground or, if your not a pussy and like fun, keep running at ground level.

All in all very much worth my time and money. It's more Red Dead, what more can you ask for? Here's hoping for another holiday themed DLC...maybe one where Marstan has to be Santa christmas. Hmm, the possibilities....

Call of Pripyat 's good in my opinion, it takes what was good about SOC and CS and not really any of the drawbacks.

If you want more deadly and accurate weapons try the Ballistics mod, from what I remember it was pretty good.

Raw, unupgraded, shotguns are pretty shit even with Ballistics mod from what I remember, but they're unrivaled for fighting mutants in my opinion.

Don't know about Gasmask/goggle effects, but you could check GSC's clear sky forum, or browse stalker.filefront.com I suppose.
Ah, thanks for the Ballistics mod, exactly what I was looking for.
I also found a HUD mod that adds the mask effects.
Maybe after finishing CS I might actually get CoP. It's quite cheap now, I think. We'll see.

Thats the next bigest issue with Arma 2 though. The huge numbers of retarded players which decide to either do nohting else in spawn then kill everyone, damage your equipment or start simply some kind of mayham in spawn. In general Arma 2 was or is not very userfriendly. I mean I had some problem to team up with players inside a vehicle for example (and thus they could not hear the commands), it has no kick-player-menue (which many other games even Unreal games have for years).

Indeed, that's the reason I only play single player and (mostly) campaign co op with some friends. It does have a 'ban user' option, perhaps it was only added recently.

Damn... just finished Medal of Honor 2010, and it kinda sucked... really, 10 missions only? And in the last one I was like "c'mon, where's the next one?"

Will try that new NFS Hot Pursuit now, hope it's enjoyable.

Playing through the Resistance series again... makes Halo look like shit IMO.

It doesn't take 10 Perception to see that Halo is shit anyway.

Resistance looks cool, but it's for PS3 only, so fuck it. I don't have one, and I'd never play a shooter on a console anyway.

Other than muds(which I 'play' 30 hours or more per week but mostly idle while I watch porn), the only games I've played in the last two years are Fallout 1, Wasteland, and MGS 3, the three greatest games ever made according to my brain. Dunno about you guys, but a few years ago(aka 2008) I noticed that whenever I turned on a game and played for a few minutes I felt a very guilty feeling for not doing shit for pretty much most of my life. I was sitting on a chair playing games and not giving a shit when I was 6, I was sitting on a chair playing games when I was 16, and I imagined myself at 60 years old doing the same exact thing I'm doing now(aka being Gary Gygax without the piles of cash) and decided that some serious IRL would do me wonders. Now I'm engaged, have a computer that was worth 3 grand in 2002, haven't touched a console released past 2001, and am in debt thanks to a business venture gone wrong. Dammit, IRL.

Just goes to show you that gamers are the equivalent of those dudes that never left england for america in the 1700s. Sure, there was a whole world out there to explore, but they decided to fap in the place they knew and loved. And they didn't die a horrible death like getting crushed by a wagon or getting every disease all at once or shot with arrows by an indian pissed off that white people you have nothing to do with killed his entire village, not before impregnating his sister(and promptly killing her).

EDIT: I'll try to keep the drunken rant down to the minimum next time. Sorry guys

Yeah, with Insomniac going multiplatform their new games may very well end up on the PC.

That'll be cool.
They said Resistance is staying PS3 exclusive, might be Ratchet and Clank that are going multi.

3rd one's coming anyway:

Playing Battlefield Bad Company 2's online a lot recently, eagerly awaiting the the Vietnam expansion :D

And I've been playing Call of Pripyat, personally my favorite out of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series

One of my favorite games, I am forcing myself to wait for the Complete mod before I start another replay:)

In the meantime I'm starting to get hooked on Arma II, just bought the PMC dlc* and I am loving it.

This is what DLC should be like IMO, it's basically a whole new campaign/ game for a couple of dollars.
