General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

No games for me guys...my wife doesn't like them. :look:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Maybe if you ask her nicely? I do that to my gf :D

@brfritos
For Pete's Sake!
What the hell is with them and that story about a man stepping for the first time out of the Vault again and again. It's been like 3 centuries goddamit, people shit regularly near the Vaults now. It's not a "secret" hideout anymore. Lame. But I want to see it do better that Shitout3.

Going between Bad Company 2 and Baldur's Gate 2. BG2, while quite fun, gets me all wet thinking about what it could have been like with real dialogue and C&C.

Started playing Minecraft, created an abysmal dirt den while other people were creating high tech rail-roads and crystal palaces with waterfalls right next to me...

I recently finished my very cozy bunker on the Minecraft server I found, decently deep down and tall/wide. Completely stone surrounded, sort of gatehouse with a door/ladder going into the bunker, comfy bed, all the works (Storage, crafting table, stove etc.) nice wooden floors, few paintings a bookcase and some torches, even made myself a nice armchair from stone slabs.

:smug:

Also been trying League of Legends some, liking it decently. My best Champion so far has been Veigar it seems, I just bait people into allies then cage them with Event Horizon and blast em later on when I have my Ultra/DPS abilities leveled.

RF Online still eating up a lot of my time. The game gets actually fun once you hit lv40 or so, cause then you're actually useful to the race, and can survive longer than 2 seconds at pvp events.

Been playing some Black Prophecy (free to play MMO space combat sim, which is live in EU & closed beta in US).

Horrible lag in the first 3 shared noob questing areas, but otherwise OK for a free game. Quite a beautiful game if you have the machine to run it. I don't. ;)

Anyhow, wanted to play some space shit recently so it hit the spot...

I discovered it a month ago and played it two weeks straight. I enjoyed it a lot, but once my friends/family stopped playing it and I had already tried three very different champions I didn't find much more fun in it. Also the higher my summoner level got the more I played with "Spike"s who play to win and not "Timmy"s who play for fun.

I got decent with Twisted Fate (gotta love playing cards), good with Taric (I love support in multiplayer games, but wow did he sound gay), and I played a great Singed (Mad Science FTW!).

You have great taste in games Hoxie.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

P.S.

Ya know now that everyone in the Order and NMA is done playing on steam together with L4D and Magicka maybe we should all start LoL? I know of one other Orderite that was playing it and with me and you that makes three. I'm sure plenty of others would join if we posted about it especially considering that it's free to play (pay for additional "bells and whistles" content).

*EDIT*

In fact I stopped playing it right as I determined that I had enough quality fun where I should drop some money for bonus content just to show the producers I support them as they deserve. However since I stopped playing there's no reason to buy anything. If I started again...

I've played Magicka w/ Alphadrop and PainlessDocM a few times, but I'm getting tired of the game tbh; i'm waiting for the Vietnam expansion, now.

EDIT: Vietnam is apparently out next week, for only $5. Definitely gettin' it.

That'd be quite cool to try some LoL with other NMA/Orderites, we should try it some time. :D

Also heh, I noticed so far my only 2 Champions I have unlocked and like are really short. Veigar who's like a tiny FF Black Mage, then Tristana who's like a little smurf commando.

P.S. If we tried a game soon, this week's free Champ rotation is pretty cool, Tristana's in there, Shen the Ninja is in there, Cho'Gath the big Spawn Violator-looking monster is on there and so on.

Zing, me too. Gotta finish playing Magicka sometime, still haven't completed it due to bugs when trying with Painless.

^By all means, do. It's not that long anyway, and the last few hours of the game are downright awesome.

Oh yeah, it looks very good so far, I have finally met aliens, inside the ship.
Brilliantly designed, but feeling disoriented all the time in that level gives me a slight headache.
Still a great game, to bad it's this short.
Multiplayer is good, I presume?

I do stealth mostly, but still, it took me - what? - 2-3 days to get here. Say I've been playing it for an two or three hours daily.
But like you say, depends on the approach. It's certainly longer than most other shooters, but it's still a shooter.

I'm already planning on getting Warhead. And 2, as soon as the price drops.

^ Yup, standard length shooter.

If you enjoyed Crysis, I highly recommend Warhead as well. It's a slightly shorter game, but the level design is much better than Crysis, as is the pacing and feel of the gunplay. Psycho is kind of annoying, and the story is nonsensical, but eh, it's a dumb game about aliens, so I'm not sure I'm going to be too critical. It's also probably the best-looking PC game ever made, even compared to the sequel and other more modern titles.

I disliked Warhead cause it was less open-ended and more linear. Of course so is 2.

It's true that it's lacking in choice and consequence outside of a few quests, but what's wrong with the dialogue? I think the writing overall is probably BioWare's best, in fact, especially considering the size of the game and its relatively short development cycle. Every single character has tons of colour and personality, there's all sorts of different slang and dialects, and they do an excellent job of really filling every conversation with a sense of history and place.

Well, I do really enjoy the way the NPCs are written, but I've always hated Bioware's tendency to overwrite dialogue for the player. I almost always want to either say less or say different than the options presented to me, whereas there's a handful of games that present dialogue options that are exactly what I want to say or what I should want to say but didn't know it (Lynette dialogue from FO2 anyone?).

We talking Blacksight 51 levels of dumb alien gamage here? Actually been meaning to give that game a whirl just for the hell of it.

Not that much AlphaDrop, they had the taste to keep the aliens mysterious and dangerous rather than just token stuff from outer space. Yeah, Prophet gets annoying towards the end (and gets either better or worse in the sequel, depending on your view), especially for that one mission with him where his AI can go haywire.

But the first game is a very good shooter, and I think you do yourself a disservice not playing it because of the story. Wait until the sequel's price drops, or just play Warhead, it has more similarity with the sequel in mission design.
