General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I was gonna get the "Augmented edition" but it turned otu to be pretty lame, everything is digital, that's not what I buy a collector's edition for. So gonna get it standard edition as soon as I change thsi pc Next Week, hope it's as good as the first one.

I just played the Warhammer 40k: Space Marine Demo.
So gloriously violent. I'll most likely get that game.

Hate to detract from the DX:HR talk, but rather than create another thread, I figured I'd just ask here: Can anybody recommend me a good city/nation building game? Preferably something older, so my laptop has a chance to play it. Or if it's more recent, something that was released on consoles, but I'd prefer a PC game.

Alpha Centauri is really good.

Remember to not get Lal angry

Right now I'm playing a bunch of stuff. I've started a couple of runs in Fallout 2 to experiment with certain traits, perks, skills, and SPECIAL combinations. I'm also playing some Megaman Battle Network games on my gba. I've also just today started a playthrough of Chibi Robo for the Gamecube.

I'm most likely going to spend hours on Sims 3 when they release Pets...

Perhaps not serious or "deep" enough but I enjoy (even love) the Tropico series.

If you pre order the 4th game from GMG you get Tropico Reloaded for free.

The first Tropico games (aka Tropico Reloaded) are pretty old and run on just about any computer.

There is a demo of the new game on Steam if you want to check out how it performs on your computer.

I bought Tropico 4 on Green an gaming for a measly 23€.
I almost feel like a thief.

I picked up Folklore on PS3 by chance without knowing anything about it, so now I am playing it. The acting and dialogue is a meh, and quite a few plot elements are barely skirting the boundaries of reality. (I am sorry, it's a bit far fetched for me to believe that some 23 years old regular girl can jump off the boat during a storm, and manage to swim to shore against jagged rocks and swirling tides. All without a scratch on her no less. The worst part about that is the main male lead managed to drive to the same destination without any serious problems, so that makes the whole swimming thing a moot point.)

But I got to say that it's not a bad game, and there are elements that I enjoy about it. It's a mystery with supernatural elements, which is one of my favorite genre. The game reminds me of Lunacy with fighting and no puzzles. Let's hope this one isn't as disappointing as Alice: The madness returns.

Metro 2033. Just arrived at the Armory.
It's great, but in a certain way lacks many things from the book. Many I would like to see appear as they were in the book.

Anyway, goddamn nosalis beasts. Can't they appear in smaller number? That first trip to the surface was scary enough, and with hundreds of them on my back I had to reload my save after getting killed all the time. No melee attack, only switch to knife. My buddies can do it no problem and instakill them. WTF, why don't I have it, kick in the face! Knee to the groin, poke in the eyes, anything! It's almost stupid like Doom3 problem with flashlight.
But besides those small misses it's a spectacular game.

Yea Metro is great, I find it a shame it doesn't explore the ghosts and spookier side more as they don't really reappear after the ghost level.

Playing Tf2 again, one day I'll get a sodding pyro hat.

Those ghost sections were spooky as shit though. I wish it would drop down cheaper in price though, I'd love to play through it again but the $30 it is new just doens't appeal to me right now.

I played the Tropico 3 demo on the 360 a while back, but never realy cared for it because it didn't do much to teach me how to get shit up and running in the beginning. I'll download it again and give it another shot though.

Tried the Space Marine demo, it's pretty cool. Basically, it's a God of War-esque action game with guns. Biggest plus is the overall feeling; weapons pack a punch and sound right, combat is brutal and violent, your character moves ponderously to remind you this IS a 7-foot tall superhuman clad in impossibly heavy armor you control, and it actually has color and no chest-high walls for cover, something rare indeed for a third person game these days. However, even in the demo it got a bit repetitive on Normal; cranked up the difficulty and it was fine however. I like the fact you heal by executing enemies; it encourages you to stay in the fray, while still seeking isolated foes to avoid your flashy kill getting interrupted.

Also, Human Revolution is awesome. A bit disappointed that Montreal is only a level and not a hub, would have liked to see my home city Deux-Exified, but overall it's great. I love the fact stealth gameplay is just as energetic and fun as action gameplay; you have lots of toys to help you not kill anybody, gas mines being my favorite. The original Deus Ex didn't have the same feeling; over time, you had shit like assault rifles with grenade launchers, plasma guns and the Dragon's Tooth sword for lethal gameplay, while non-lethals were pretty much stuck with the starting prod and crossbow all game IIRC. Here there's progression and incentive for both courses of action.

Decided to actually try and complete Super Mario Bros on NES. The game is fucking hard.

I never have any real problems until world 8. Have you tried Super Mario Crossover? It's a flash game that emulates smb but allows you to play as other nes characters like Link, Megaman, Bill from Contra, Samus, etc.

IIRC there was a secret from level 1-2 to 4-1 and then from 4-2 to 8-1 in SMB for NES, old old times though.

I went on a mario kick about a year ago. Me n my bud came to the conclusion that someone, somewhere, had to have broken down and commited what we called "Mario Suicide" IE. Dying in the same exact spot so many times you are forced to strangle yourself with the controller cord.

Reinstalled Dungeon Keeper 2, I simply can't understand why this gem still doesn't have a sequel or at least a spiritual successor. (shitty Dungeons doesn't count as anything except an insult)

Stop making Fable games Peter.

Just installed the Dungeon Siege 3 demo for PS3, and I understand it is made by Obsidian (hoping that means it's good). Anyway, is the game any good, because i'm wondering whether I should purchase it or not.

I want to try Earthbound, but I don't have an snes and I don't want to use an emulator. I don't get why Nintendo would go to the trouble of making a service where you can download old games if they're not going to release a game that so many people love.

Rumor is that they're afraid that they'll get sued because they 'appropriated' some music for the game that may or may not have copyright.

Course, that's just a rumor I heard, so I can't verify it's authenticity.

But if it is true, it probably relates to the battle music that plays when you fight the New Age Retro Hippie enemy.
