General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

IIRC there was a secret from level 1-2 to 4-1 and then from 4-2 to 8-1 in SMB for NES, old old times though.

I'm trying not to use Warp zones so I can say that I completely beat this fucker. I really hate the water levels and I also hate when I start the game and die on the second or third level because of a stupid mistake. I'm like FUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!! It's too early to die yet I don't feel like restarting!

Freaking online access needed to access farther game contents. This is the reason why I hate these half breed games. You want to be a MMO, go ahead. If you are a single player game, stay freaking single player! Why the hell do I have to play online to access farther content on the single player!? And since this game is so old that there is practically nobody there.

And that's the biggest reason I hate these "need to access internet" things in games. I mean, how long are game developers required to maintain their servers, content sites or whatever else is needed to play more of their game? Is there a legal requirement? Does that mean if a game didn't sold as well as they hoped, they can bugger off after 6 months and just say well it's too bad, and we are sorry?

What game are you bitching about Starseeker?

Also I picked up a used copy of Tropico 3 for twenty bucks. And I'll play it sometime next week (DX:HR).

Red Orchestra 2 early test play. You run around a bit, shoot an ally, sneak about a few buildings, miss a guy behind you and get gunned down while trying to unstick yourself from a wall.
Same as RO 1 but with a cover system or so I've heard. :V
The cover system is actually pretty good once you get used to it.

Been a while, so decided to replay BG2 (well, I was having internet issues so no DDO, and that was the first thing that came to mind). Goody-good fighter/cleric, because evil doesn't work in the game. A lot more fun than when I tried replaying the game last year with an evil fighter (mage slayer - one of those kits that sound like a great idea but isn't). I HAVE been avoiding the somewhat tedious area that stalled me last time - Umar Hills quest chain - but by the time I get there, I'll probably be over-leveled for it anyway.

Trying out party members I don't normally use (ditched Aerie cause she's annoying, and Edwin even though he's awesome, and grabbed Nalia instead; traded Minsc for Keldorn, and grabbed Valygar; Jaheira and Yoshimo seem almost irreplaceable though).

Ran into the infinitely annoying bug whereupon the entire theatre in Five Flagons vanishes into thin air; still got the loot and kills by going to the Prison using console, but having to "cheat", and missing out on a fun quest has made me sad :( On the bright side, Haer'Dalis is gone for good, and he's both annoying and useless :D

Are you using the Gibberlings Three patch? There's a bunch of stuff it doesn't fix, but it fixes a whole lot.

I'm playing Populous: the Beginning for the third time. Just finished the original campaign and am about to begin the expansion levels. It's a good game, but the later levels tend to get samey, and a random world (or even preselected world) skirmish mode is sorely lacking.

Hm, the Raelis Shai's quest in Five Flagons must be solved during the chapter two, before traveling to the pirate island. Otherwise, theatre actors will be caught by a bounty hunters. (It's not a bug.)

Nope, wanted to play vanilla. Though I did check their bug listing, the issue doesn't appear to be on there.

Well, I found Haer'Dalis before ever talking to her. That was Chapter 3, but before going to Spellhold. Apparently it's a known bug that never got fixed. It's not just the troupe that's gone, but even the manager and the audience. The barkeep still acts as if the show's going on. Anyway, I got my loot and XP through "cheating" and moved on. Now I'm starting to remember why exactly I never took Keldorn with me, he's annoying as hell trying to stick his nose in just about everything I do.

Dead Island, auch this is probably the worst console port I have ever attempted to play.

The FOV is so small and the lightning (bloom or HDR or whatever) is so over the top bright it makes me physically ill.

There are hardly any graphical options to adjust in-game so you have to fiddle around with a settings file in your documents folder if you want to adjust standard pc-game settings like AF and texture quality so the game looks at least somewhat better than the console versions.

The game ran great for about 15 minutes after that it started stuttering so bad I thought my computer was dying. (Memory leak?)

When you press Y you enter no clip mode and fly around/ through the island.
(Apparently the developers accidentally released a dev build for pc.*)

I hope they manage to patch this mess because the game itself looks like it could be great fun.

Going between Hat Fortress 2 (Would you believe I've been playing since October 2007 and haven't found a single hat?) and Just Cause 2.

I watched a livestream of Dead Island last night, and it looks pretty terrible.

Playing Baldurs Gate II for almost 2 weeks nonstop already. If you don't see it as a real RPG and more of an Action Adventure, disable those horrible romances and look for some Dungeon Crawl, it's really nice. It's also pretty huge. Upon completing it, I only have a new playthrough of Torment left, then I played through all of the Infinity Engine games the last month.

You don't even have to "disable" the romances - just play as a female character and don't take Anomen, and you'll be completely free of them.

Just finished Deus Ex. The story's a conspiracy theorist's wet dream (bleh, all conspiracies are true!), and a bit disappointed with the lack of detail in the ending. Would be nicer with a cutscene showing the future results of your actions, or at least a Fallout-style slideshow mentioning your influence on various locations and events.

Just finished Doom2, i play it somwhere from 3-10 times a year...
I really really really love it...
