General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Yeah, Stick of truth. Honestly, the best license-dependant game out there. Hell I enjoyed it. If you didnt like south park, dont bother. Liked it, youre in for a treat.

Part of what makes south park funny to me is how they make it painfully obvious that they arent really trying very hard. The stick of truth is hilarious but its not really a very good rpg.

It has very good combat mechanics and the visual style is amazing (at sucking, is weird)
It's a little on the easy side but the experience is good enough.

Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall.

Man. The original campaign was worthless compared to this. There's actual content now! In missions and around the safehouse you can make decisions that should affect the progression (I'm only a few hours in with my first play through). So: replayability, welcome back. NPCs have character! And actually interesting backstories. Right now I'm pretty psyched. I'll keep you posted :V

The writing has some cliches that aren't amazing and more meh, but I guess that's to be expected from a pulp genre that mashes cyberpunk with wiccans and goblins...

Just finished Command and Conquer Renegade.
Bought it years ago when it was in the budget bin but I never finished it.
I was really in the mood for a sci-fi ish shooter so I decided to give it another try.

The game is rather basic looking which made me think that it was released some time in 2000 or 2001, much to my surprise it was 2002, and not long after Jedi Outcast came out, what a difference in design

Whelp Renegade X just released it's beta so you can at least play the Renegade multiplayer in a surprisingly colourful Unreal Engine.

On the subject of Dragonfall I actually played Shadowrun 4th edition with someone who repeatedly kept making variants of Eiger, no surprises he quite likes her. However Dietrich is the stand out npc in that game though quite how he's using English slang while speaking German is a tad confusing.

Hello Alphadrop,

I do like the concept of C&C Renegade and I wish it had been expanded upon, an expansion pack or a sequel that would also bring in other units and buildings.
Now I am really sad that Tiberium was never finished, or Starcraft: Ghost for that matter.

I know of the project of making a similar game in the Tiberium Sun period with the Crysis engine but it sadly will not have a single player campaign.

Second run of Gothic 3.
It's really great RPG.
it's not good as Fo2 but I think it's better than NV for some aspect.
of course, it's far better than oblivion or fo3.

NV did better job on setting, decorate dialogs, decorate small sub quests(I rather call them chores) and companions.
but G3 did better job on main quest, non-linear game play and balanced factions.

too bad this masterpiece was underestimated by bugs and bad optimization.

and playing Risen 1 though I paused to play it for now.
well... it's good game to.
too bad lots of improvements of G3 wasn't in there, but it has spirit of G1,2.
it's good game but not good as G2(actually NotR).

and tried Risen 2 little bit but.... it doesn't feel good.
lots of cutscenes, weired combat and looks linear gameplay.
actually, Gothic series' combat is always feel weired at first but after used to it, it's fun.
so I expect Risen2's combat will be enjoyable.
but I'm sure it will be more linear than G1,2 and even Risen 1.

Doing a replay of dark souls while im waiting for the second game release for the PC. My first playtrough was with shield and sword type of deal and this time around im doing heavy 2 handed sword (black knight greatsword) without shield. Fun times, some of the bosses have been quite easy this time around without much leveling at all.

Started playing Diablo 3 again in preparation of the expansion that's coming out tonight midnight. Not staying up for it though. It'll be plagued by server issues anyway. ;)

Currently paragon level 126.

I wouldn't say they didn't try, but they definitely made a great experience and the humor is consistent throughout the entire game. Don't want to ruin anything for people who might play it but there's so many references and as a fan of the franchise it's a great game. Definitely one of the best games based off of a show/tv/movie out there.

Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun, still a damn entertaining game even though in some ways it's surpassed by Victoria 2.

Another playthrough of Blood 1. This time, i will finnally be able to play more than the vanilla game.
I recently got Plasma Pack, Cryptic Passage, Death Wish & Bloody Pulp Fiction.

If you aware of other high quality mods, please, let me know...

Those robed cultists would never get old...

(Also kind of sad that the Build Engine didn't last longer. It was for me the golden age of sprites FPS...)

Other than just discussing the games other people are playing, if it wasn't for SOME level of adventure into "something else", anything I'd have to say here would just seem like a broken record. Always "playing Dota 2 right now", but I FINALLY got around to giving Bioshock Infinite a shot after almost a whole year. Initially the reasons I didn't play BSI were monetary in nature, but a few months ago it was lent to me by a friend who wanted me to experience its awesomeness. Well, thanks to Dota, it took me a few more months to go from being in possession of the game to actually PLAYING it..... and wow!

There's still a few games of the last year that are on my radar which I've needed to pick up, chiefly The Last of Us. However while I was expecting a good game out of Infinite, since it was the latest installment in the series since plain 'ol Bioshock (can't count BS2, since it was a different studio, and any cursory glance would tell you that, just like FO3, it was full of absurdities and canon-breaking bad ideas, with little more to its narrative than simply regurgitating the previous game(s)'s material) but I was decently surprised by how much the ending blew my mind. I wouldn't say it was the most profound ending of any game... far from it. But given the action-packed and rather simplistic ride that made up the majority of the game leading up to the ending offered little more than minor mystery solving, the sudden depth that the game violently switched to at the end was jarring in a delightful way. It answered my nagging questions of "HOW can they call this a 'Bioshock' title instead of just changing the name a bit slightly, if it's not a direct sequel/prequel?" and "Why the fuck does it have the subtitle 'Infinite' slapped on at the end?" at the very end, and my God that was brilliantly addressed.

So, I've beaten it 3 times already, and now I'm replaying it again a 4th time, just for further enjoyment. Like getting myself to actually put the damn disc in my PS3, I need to motivate myself to download the DLCs, but I've heard simply good things about the Burial at Sea episodes, so I don't suppose there's any reason to delay. Just one more run on 1999 mode doing something different than my last, see what more the new episodes add, and then... =D
