General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Welp, in spite of all my promises to myself, I went ahead and began replaying FONV yet again. I guess that's just a testament to how good of a game it is (chiefly in writing, cause... well, the engine... yeah) considering I SWORE I would put off replaying it until I finished my new PC and collected a list of mods to use on it then mod the utter living fucking shit out of it and make it into a depiction of "the perfect New Vegas experience" for me. Yet, here I am, playing it again.

It's worth noting that my time away from the game HAS allowed me to forget just how God-awful the facial animations look, and how much of the typical-wastelander voice acting is just dull and emotionless narration, in contrast to the excellent voice acting from the cast who provided voices for one character and one character alone. It even makes me wonder how much better the experience could be if a mod existed that gave EVERY NPC a new set of dialog animations, and the dialog itself was back in a hovering third person view and the (poor) voice work had been replaced with exclusively text. Not only would it be a throwback to the series' roots, but not having to listen to those droning tones would UNDOUBTEDLY improve my enjoyment of every NPC considerably... Or at least I think maybe that's what that would do.

But I did find a page on steam that listed a BUNCH of visual and performance mods for the game that made it look DAMN sexy.

Mmmm. Y'know. Fuck this procrastination. I'll take on SOME debt that I know I can pay off in a couple months to finish this fucking new PC. I DESERVE a game with the fan-fucking-tastic writing of Obsidian the likes of FONV which looks like THAT to play at my goddamned leisure! We all do!!!!! =D

EDIT: Oh, right... the state of the game that I'm playing RIGHT NOW...

Well all I installed besides every DLC (which I've owned for a couple years now) was the JSawyer mod, and I'm experiencing the game with THAT. It's pretty fun. Still not quite enough, but it's an excellent start. =)

I promised to myself - no more Morrowind replays *twitches a little, that game is HUGE!* untill I have installed all of Tamriel Rebuilt.

Which is about 60% finished afaik

After 10 years of development.

So... I just realized, I've even replayed fucking Skyrim some 5 times* **, by now... enough! Morrowind! Come back to me! D': Tamriel Rebuilt can wait - another 10 years

*Each time I make a point out of avoiding all main quest, because don't even get me started on the dragons, don't eeeven...
**I am sooo booored...

Played a bit more on my Euro Truck 2 save, and goddamn, NO other game makes me rage-quit quicker... It's SO perfectionist... a job will pay you say 10 000 euros. Unless you drive ssspppoootttlessly, you'll be losing half of that to repairs (and possibly fines, especially since AI has a habit of being retarded)
In other words, playable for max 10 minutes at the time, cus as soon as you feel even slightly complacent, that's when you will begin to hemorrage money to repairs and fines, and a job is more likely to cost than earn...

Repairs are especially expensive, since they tend to cost about 1000€ per 1% of damage

Unlocked the Shamrock in Valkyria Chronicles, the game is getting really interesting, at least gameplay situations wise, no mission has been a straight forward "Capture the points" for a while, the introductions to objectives sometimes get a little overwhelming, But I have managed to keep my squad alive (well mostly, one of them died during a skirmish on a difficult map). Pretty cool game, the story is kind of animu, but it still has it's moments.

This is the second time I've seen someone mention this game here. Maybe third. I need to play it I think. I don't care for anime style games very often, but if done right, I can stand it. The main appeal to me is the combat. I have it sitting on my table now looking at me.

Well it's an anime game where a number of both the main cast and your available units can be fantasy versions of anti semites. The animu-ness actually serves to make units very distinguishable from each other and makes you more accepting of them having goofy personality quirks represented by traits in battle. There is even a set of which specific units every unit likes or dislikes and that gives them buffs and such. I am really digging the battle system a lot.

It also makes you get attached to specific units, for example my favorite shocktrooper is Wendy, because, despite not even being a main story character, her entire shtick is that she is a bomb throwing psychopath who joined the military because she blew up her house and needed the special benefits soldiers get and not out of dutty for her country. She has won me a lot of battles, she was the one who destroyed most of the Batomys tank, and she even destroyed a regular tank once with an assault rifle (Tanks have glowy weak points but getting to them is pretty risky with regular units).

WHAT THE FUCK, MAN??? HOW MANY times are you gonna recreate your account??? This is madness!!!

Uh, still playing FONV. My aging system is starting to have serious problems loading the increasingly-developing series of gameplay the deeper I go, so I feel like I gotta cross my fingers the more I play, hoping that my saves actually load the next time I boot up the game... >_<

Keep your load order under 80 mods to maximize performance.

My New Vegas is kinjd of unstable at the moment, but that's mostly because I like playing with videos playing on the back whil rocking 135 mods and about 5 texture packs for even clutter so it's kind of my fault. It actually surprises me that my system can play like that for hours.

Mine isn't prone to crashing but it takes some time to load up the inventory especially when looting. I don't use texture packs since I have so much shit installed on it already, so it would crash like hell once the RAM hits the cap. I actually removed Nevada Skies to improve performance. Plus all of those weather mods are flawed in various ways.

Only thing I dislike from Nevada Skies is the default settings for rain, really feels stupid that it rains every other day in this desert setting, I also have to pump the Sandstorm settings so they happen more often.

Back to games we are playing, I am currently visiting my family due to my Nephew's birthday so I am mostly playing Teh Pokeymans right now, just bred and trained a Mean Kabutops and 2 Brelooms :V //Dork

Well for the first time in several months (since it's initial release, to be exact) I gave the Dota2 Reborn beta another try.

No...

The gameplay is fine, of course. They didn't change anything as far as how the GAME works. Just ported it over to Source 2. I love the IDEA of their new version of the game, but too many things just bother me. It takes me LONGER to boot up the game and to load up individual matches than it does in old Dota2, and Reborn is SUPPOSEDLY designed with working better on older systems in mind. Doesn't feel like it. Many cosmetic items and/or hero abilities and some commands are missing, so like all betas... it's a bug-riddled mess. But the WORST part (for me, and especially for ANY item trader) is the inventory system. Ooh, woopdee do! Now you can see items organized per hero! Yay! I DON'T CARE! I want my items organized how *I* organize them, damn it!!! I need to be able to sort and find EXACTLY what I'm looking for when I'm trading! I don't want to look under which hero has it, or ordered by age, or ordered by name. You gave me a perfectly adequate inventory system in the original game, Valve, WHY did you take that away??? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!! ~_~

Also still New Vegas. I'm gonna have to dig up some old messages to find the list of GAMEPLAY mods I had my sights set on so I can play a game that doesn't JUST look impressive, but actually plays more or less like how I want it to. I wish I knew how the GECK works, or how to mods the game at all, cause I have lots of relatively simple ideas that I think would go a LONG way to making the game amazing. But I wouldn't even know where to begin with tweaking the numbers to get those changes. So, all I have is mods other people have made and "close enough" to work with.

Like what?

My Valkyrie Chronicles disc didn't work. Luckily I bought that disc protection coverage.

Played trough Condemned criminal origins just to do all the achievements for once and just like the last time i ended up with "everything in this game F.E.A.R did better" I used to love the game when it was new but i guess this was the last time touching it even if i missed 1 of the achievments due to "find all melee weapons" = "find all melee weapons and smack at least 1 guy with em".

I also got the Warhammer 40k urge and tried the twin stick kill team game. It is not that bad but the camera is horrible and i've had like 3 bugs allready... Not to mention how short it was.

Pretty much gave up on path of exile aswell as i hate doing the same thing 100's of times just to gain more levels.. Nothing to do besides map in the end but at least i got to 85 this time before getting bored.

Finished Shadowrun: Hong Kong in 25-ish hours. Starts slow & then picks up the pace. Could use some more tweaking, but all in all I'm not complaining about my $15.

I'm writing a new novel, and I wanted fans of the old one to be able to know exactly who I was (NMA isn't the only place I am showcasing my work). And the only reason I remade the BigBoss account, is because I cleared my data in Google Chrome (actually "I" didn't do it. It was a program I was building as a "free firewall" for people on the internet, and in a test run it deleted all my damn Google Chrome data), and I could no longer log into to this website with the password.... I swear to God, that unless something should happen this will be my last account. Pinky promise.

With my last laptop, I had a problem that the further I'd go with one of my characters, the slower the game (F:NV) would start to run and the more it would lag. It got really irritating. Once I had hit level 30, the problem would start, and the more I would do, the more it would lag.
