General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Putting Rise of the Tomb Raider on hold since Geothermal Valley has horrendous framerate drops on a $650 GPU so I'm gonna hold off until that is straightened out even though that latest graphics driver for Nvidia had RotTR on the game ready section so who knows.
Stardew Valley has piqued my interest so I might have to buy it when I get the chance.

Giving Mount and Blade: Fire and Steel another play

One thing that botheres me a lot is the insta-retreat of your troops, as soon as you're down. I once had 800 troops (several armies, several commanders) versus 20.

800 vs 20.

The moment I am shot off my horse, we immediately lose and retreat. 800 people including their commanders flee screaming from 20, because I fell off my horse :I
(and no, those 20 were not elite in any way, they were the opposite. Militia and scouts and such.
In Warband this would not happen. If your troops were superior, you would still have a chance to win, even if you were injured out of combat, but in F&S it seems like a rule: as soon as you're injured out of battle, that battle is lost, regardless of your troops or their troops)

Tested it now: 60 troops vs 1. I let myself be injured: Retreat!

Someone gifted Dawnguard to me on my Birthday as a joke. But then I decided that I should try some of those bigger Skyrim Mods that required Dwanstar and Dragonborn and installed those.
If you haven't already tried Forgotten City it's pretty good. It's pretty light on combat and has bunches of different branching paths. Someguy2000 just released Blood of the Nord for Skyrim and I had to start a new game myself since none of my saves were Stormcloaks. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/70219/?

No, it's Someguy2000 one of the most well known modders on New Vegas, he is the one who made the New Vegas Bounties series.

Was about ready to enter the final stage of POE, but cruel fate intervened. My new monitor started showing ugly visual artifacts and my hardrive died almost at the same time. I think my gaming absence has angered the gaming gods and this is my punishment.

Finished Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut yesterday. Not a bad game but definitely not as memorable as its grand daddy.
The Director's Cut sadly suffers from several issues, the result of being a somewhat inferior port from the Wii U.
It also rather misses most of the X Files atmosphere that made the original so much fun. It looks better but I rather have bigger hub areas to explore than places that look big but are actually rather restricted.
This is probably the last time I am going to play it as it does not have that much replayability.

On to Deus Ex The Fall next.
at least you could be prepared for the mankind divided... :)

i hear that the fall is getting negatives review though

The Fall is not so bad, I guess most people expected it to be like Human Revolution while it is a game designed for a mobile device. (and I think it does a good job at that)
In general it plays pretty much like Deus Ex HR with exception that bodies disappeared after you have knocked out or killed people, from what I recall even the control button layout is the same as HR, you can just not modify them much to people's frustration and disappointment.

I actually rather liked this little side story and I was quite curious on what would happen next.

Just pick it up on a sale if you ever become interested.

Anyone picked up Factorio?

I watched a lot of YouTube videos during it's alpha pre-Steam days, it looked like a good idea but wasn't sure if it was worth it to jump in. It was released on Steam Early Access recently and has the best (or one of the best) ratings on Steam right now (like 4,000 positives and 30 negatives last I checked). So I got the free demo from the Factorio website and decided to try it for a few minutes. Bought the Steam version and five minutes turned into several hours.

Definitely a great management game, could be the management game to end all management games.

And as usual the negative reviews are amusing to go through. Like the new Torment game where someone complained there was too much reading (which defines a Torment game), people complained Factorio had too much management (which literally defines the game). It's like these people buy these games expecting them to all be first-person shooters and are offended when a management game isn't an FPS and when a role-playing game involves reading.

I've been playing the Original Fallout recently (as I want to change the fact I haven't yet completed any of the Interplay games and wanted to change that).
Can see why so many people on here enjoy it.
I also have The Witcher 3 and Morrowind in the background, in case I want to slow down with Fallout.

I may go back afterwards and complete my New Vegas Hardcore run, I sort of stopped before I met Benny and I couldn't decide how I wanted to handle the situation (I went through them all to see the different outcomes).
Considering it gets really good once you find him, I may go back.

Moded Skyrim is definetly enjoyable, as long as you don't pay too much attention to the dialogue on Vanilla quests, I am going through the Dawnguard questline and it's pretty crappy, I literary stopped having fun when I started that but I am already a Vampire and I am guessing I'll get a cure for it at the end.

I've actually been expanding a lot into different games.

I've played every Fallout. Done it backwards and with one hand. I get the game.

So I started branching out into other games to try to learn from them, like The Witcher 3, TF2, Metal Gear Solid V, and a few indie games.

Currently worrying about No Man's Sky. (Don't pull a Spore, please)

Decided to go trough all the F.E.A.R games again a while ago but i could not be arsed with the 2 expansions for the first game as they pretty much suck ass. Then i remeber how little i wanted to play the third one so i ditched that idea.

Gone trough Bioshock 1-2 and the main story in infinite and will soon play trough the DLC's and it made me wonder why people disslike BS2 so much. I have played the first one a bit to much but i did enjpy it more than the other 2 games this time besides a few small areas/things.
Infiniote made me "quit" 5 times as i got bored wich haven't happened in a verry long time with games i like/liked but i think the DLC's are better if my memory serves me right.

I don't get the hate for Bioshock 2 either. It was a pretty fun, compact game which I found enjoyable enough to play through a second time using only the drill. Bioshock Infinite became a chore for me quite quickly though.

What do people find interesting in Bioshock? I tried it several times, but it doesn't feel like a shooter and isn't an rpg either. What is the appeal in that game?

It's a shooter with some interesting environmental mechanics and a couple of RPG elements. Like a System Shock 2 Lite. If you like that sort of thing it's fun enough.

The story and setting are their redeeming qualities for most, I guess. I really enjoyed the first game because of those things, while I found the game mechanics lackluster and mediocre.

It's one of the few AAA games that bother to experiment with philosophical ideas, criticisms and, themes also, BI had a pretty decent Disney princess.
