General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

New MvC character models look like shit. Capcom is a fallen idol. If they fail with Resident Evil Remake 2 they are dead to me.

Finished Dark Souls last night.
This game is absolutely fantastic. My new favorite game. It's right on top with Fallout and Planescape Torment - it has a story that matches the latter.

I got Dark Souls 2 on Humble Monthly. Gonna be a while before I start that one tho.

And, for whatever reason, I was super stoked to find so many Berserk references.

Now, hopefully you picked Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin and not just DS2.

Don't mind much the game's controversy and have fun!

AFAIK, vanilla DS2 isn't available at all anymore. Steam has a page for it, but you can't buy it if I'm not wrong.
Anyway, yeah, I got Scholar of the First Sin. Just the name itself sounds too awesome.

Regarding the controversy, I tried to stay out of the whole thing out of fear of spoilers. The only thing that I know is that vanilla DS2 is way inferior to Scholar, and the game itself is the weakest in the series, but far from bad. That's enough for me and will hardly affect my potential enjoyment.

I just hope it's well ported this fucking time.

Oh yeah, it doesn't need DSFix or nothing at all. It's a good port, and teh best if it had more options. Wait... You used DSFix, right?

You CAN still get DS2 vanilla w/o DLC, which is actually a decent thing to check out once you've beat one of the versions. But IMO SOTFS is the one good Director's Cut+GOTY version of a game I've ever played. The cons are very outweighted by pros, saying that as I played the PS3 version, which has the content of it but not the changes.

The WORST of the series is the Dark Souls 1 second half, post Lordvessel. Almost everything is better than that, one way or another. If you endured that, I think one should be golden.

If anything, this game is a bit like Fallout 2 in reference to its predecessor in ways.

Yeah, I used DSfix, but I had issues with mouse and keyboard (even with mouse + keyboard fix). So I ended up buying a 30 euro controller just for this game and learned to use it (I've never played anything with a controller, PES and Tekken aside). It was damn worth it.

Post-Lordvessel is bad? Dunno, I found it enjoyable. Lost Izalith was a bit of a slog, but I liked it a lot in general.

Anyway, excited for DS2, but I think I'm going to replay DS1 first. Looking through wiki the only major thing I missed is Kaathe. Nonetheless, NG+ is promising.

Should've used this one, it's an updated version of DSFix and it actually feels like you're using a mouse instead of a joystick to look around. Some other improvements as well.

Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin has some issue with mouse attack delays which I can't remember how you fix it but you have to turn something off and on in the menu.

Thanks for the link. However, after 100 hours spent playing on my gamepad, I feel I've grown accustomed to it. DS1 was tailored for console play, obviously, but I've come to love and appreciate the input that gamepad offers. Not that I'd favor it for mouse and keyboard in general, but it feels natural for DS now, to put it simply, and I will most likely play though the rest of the series with it.

Well I finally played Overwatch, after practicing a bit I think Pharah is the one I use better seeing how I was more of a Demoman and Soldier player in TF2, I haven't tried Tracer yet which seems like a Scout esque kind of character which I also liked playing as.

It's fun, won my nephew a skin for his main "Reaper" by playing for 2 hours. May do it again.

Which controller did you use to play the game?

Logitech F710
That's the same I use for emulators and some PC games that require controllers.
Never had any problems except on Windows 10 sometimes (happened twice before) the drivers get corrupt or something and I have to go to the Device Manager and select to update drivers on my controller and pick from a list something like "xbox 360 controller" or something like that and it will update automatically and then it will work again.

I've had zero issues so far. Also playing on Win 10. When it comes to DS though, I had to use x360ce. It wasn't a big deal though, took 10 minutes to set it up, and the game played very natural. Vibration wouldn't work tho. It works for other games, but not for DS.

I've been playing Fallout 3, with a lot of mods. When you got a well done steak, you gotta add some A1 steak sauce.
Recently, I've started Batman: Arkham City as well. I'm loving it.

Why is it that most people who don't like turn based combat aren't content with simply accepting it's not for them and moving on and instead wish for the very existence of Turn based on any series to be banished from reality?
