My patience for the 4x genre exists only in short lasting bursts with long, looong pauses between. Back when I was single, smoked tons of weed every day, and had a general disdain for human life, I would love to immerse myself completely and entirely into these games, take my time, make it epic, and micromanage and grow.
Lately I have become one of these "casuals" that I used to resent. Take Kingdom Come, for example. Were I only a couple of years younger - or - found myself in the same place I were a couple of years ago, I would easily spend hours and hours getting immersed, building my character, evaluating my priorities in skills, levelling, learning the lore, the background etc. In the end, as my life is now, I played the tutorial, and not much else. Not that I disliked it, I just can't find the mood to play that kind of game anymore. Small part of me kind of misses that life, where nobody really matters, and spending 6000 krones on weed seemed like a clever investment (we'd get excellent deals!)
In fact, talking of other games played - I'm such a casual by now, I've actually been playing No Man's Sky a lot
