General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

That would be the story that's cool and the combat that sucks.
Yeah, I guess. The combat ain't that bad, but it's really the story that keeps me going. I just managed to get off Taris (or Tarris? whatever) and would've played the whole night if I hadn't Forced (get it?) myself to quit and go to sleep.

Earthbound

The story of a boy, that woke up one night, took a baseball bat, and went out to randomly pummel local wildlife, until he started getting visions of a talking miniature insect.

You can bet your ass this game was the biggest inspiration for people behind Postal.

\o/

What i learned - when you kill enough birds and dogs and snakes, you get psychic healing abilities.

Earthbound is cool. There's an NES version of its odd prequel floating around out there in emulation land.

I'm playing Wizardry I. It's kind of a toss up whether your first encounter is manageable or impossible, which makes advancing hard.

Unfortunately it's really not too good either.

Yeah, but it's fun if you're not expecting too much. Kind of like having fun in MvC2: You have to give up on taking it seriously.

The force powers are fun to toy with, like getting to slam a force-gripped storm trooper into a wall then fling him off the station.

Right now, I'm diving into a deep pool of console nostalgia, with N64 and PSX games.

Banjo Kazooie/Tooie
Pokemon Stadium
Ape Escape <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Herc's Adventures

Some great games that stand the test of time pretty well. Especially friggin Ape Escape. That game rules.

Half Life 2, again. I've started playing through Half Life and Half Life 2 because I'll finally be buying the Orange Box. I've already played some Portal at a friends place and I've waited far too long for this gem. But I holding back the good stuff for later.

Also, Fallout 1. Just fun to play through it another time. Just got the last two 'end-game' regions left to do. But they're actually quite hard and will take some time.

You definitely need to download the Portal: Flash Edition mappack. Gameplay-wise, it is superior to vanilla portal's campaign (longer too).

Resident Evil 4 - Not too bad, took a while to get into it. Not quite as good as some would have led me to believe.
Max Payne 2 - Playing through again to get the alt. ending for "Dead-on-Arrival".

I was messing with "Drakensang : Das Schwarze Auge" a bit.Damn...the graphics look neat...now what would happen if the Original Develeopers could make a Fallout 3 game with such an Engine ...damn *Dreams !!!*

Metal Gear solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Max everything out and use patches, and it finally looks better than the PS2 version.

Use your video card settings to boost AA and AF

Phenominal

Hey has that game already been released, or am I confusing it with a similar game still in development/?
It has been released in Austria and Germany. The game is in german and i don't that an english version of the game exists.maybe they will translate it later.one complain that i have about this game is that it isn't fully voiced.the characters say a few lines and the rest is just texts .

Well, I just finished Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. If you enjoy your Metal Gear Solid games (and I do), then you'll enjoy this one. Not the best in the series though: that title still belongs to the original Metal Gear Solid, I think.

Speaking of which: I bought the Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection, which is the first 3 Metal Gear Solids. I never actually played number 3, so now I'll give that a go and see how it is. It'll be nice to give 2 another play through as well. I never hated Raiden, unlike most people.

I bought FFXII finally too... played a little of it. I'm not a fan of the combat system so far, actually. I haven't played too much though, so we'll see how it is when it actually kicks into gear.

Also playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma... loving it. But of course it's Ninja Gaiden, which I loved, with new content and some kick-ass dual-wielded swords. Still the quintessential action game, IMO. Screw the Prince of Persia games *ducks*.

Playing some red alert 2 multiplayer after hours of painful google searches and reading how to`s and then actually finding out how easily it could be played in the net >=F But it was worth it.

Also Some Dark reign: Shadowhand and other older rts games from the years back like KknD

@Kyuu
I actually liked the third one to be the best of the series so you should really play it. Much less cut scenes and big boss`s and The boss`s characters were quite good.
