General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Got back to Elite: Dangerous. I wish I could play it in anything past the lowest possible settings, it's not even that demanding a game my rig is just shit. Trying to improve my overly expensive ASP Explorer and REALLY avoid dying as the insurance cost is riduculous.

I just finished "South Park: the Fractured but Whole", and I'm currently playing the 3DS remake of "the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". I'm also playing a bit of "Mighty Switch Force 2".

I have mostly been playing the Neverwinter MMO but I think I am going to do a new game for New Vegas after Easter. Younger brother and his kids are coming over from Idaho and the little ones always demand my full attention when they visit.

For the past month I've been playing through whole Deus Ex series without killing anything (and preventing deaths when possible). Currently at Mankind Divided.

Finally completed White March Part 2...and dear god, what a slog. It is better than WM1, but is still very...well, quite simply, it's boring.

Few new areas are interesting, admittedly, and the storyline serves as an interesting conclusion of what started in WM1 while also neatly tying into the story of the main game (or rather, the lore of the world as it was presented in main game), but the gameplay itself kills it. A fight after fight, each one reminiscent of the previous, all of which drag on and on. Once you get to the final section of the DLC, the endgame, you don't feel excitement of the culmination of every action here - you just want it to end.
Side quests are also very poorly done. They are not bad, but aren't anything to write home about. And are very few.
Companions are also somewhat disappointing. Mechanically, they are better than the companion in WM1, and they are unique characters. Problem stems from the fact that their quests are so-so, unlike those in vanilla, and consequently they don't seem to have much depth to them (which is a shame, I generally enjoyed these two new characters).

Another thing that kills it for me is that large part of the story revolves around revisiting old areas. This would not be an issue if:
- you haven't cleared those areas literally minutes ago if you played WM2 right after WM1
- the game's loading time wasn't so long (lots of people have told me they had this problem too, despite powerful PCs). Another thing here is that every location is separated from each other by a space that, in-game, takes a lot of time to traverse. Long period of time in this game means frequent assaults on your stronghold, which while being a vanilla issue, is exacerbated here and becomes even more annoying.

These two DLCs (which should really have been marketed, price and sold as one DLC, which is a whole different issue) beat around the bush too much for their own good. Drawn out story that wasn't bad on its own, too many repetitive fights with enemies that are fine on their own, too much revisiting of old areas that were fun on the first run.

It seems to me that going to Act 3 of PoE will take me much more time than I originally thought. I am, quite frankly, burnt out on this game. Again.

At least you're done with it! I'm still on my White March playthrough but it's going at a super slow pace because I really need to force myself to play since it's such a bore. Feel a bit stressed to have it done before the release of PoE2.

I'm not sure if it's possible, but you might consider lowering the difficulty to the minimum here. There are only a few fights that are actually fun, most of it is a grindfest.
That being said, I think WM content will be of some importance in the sequel. Not sure how big, but some definitely.

Been playing way too much Vermintide 2, but now that I've got all my classes leveled and properly equipped, I'm not sure what more can be done.
It's fun to play, but a lot of the outcomes are quite random and in the end luck dependent on Legend difficulty.
Doesn't help that there's quite a few bugs that can really ruin your playthrough.

Starter a Borderlands 1 playthrough with a full platoon of lads. Jank as fuck but hotdamn is it hilarious. Also playing solo Into The Breach; the slow grind to 100% archievements.

I got to Egypt and the the grind set in. I intend to go back to TSW eventually. Its easily the best MMO in terms of quality content available today.

Africa was just launched. I'm in Savage Coast at the moment.

So, without further ado, here are some of my favourites and why:

a)Distance

http://store.steampowered.com/app/233610/Distance/

-It is a successor to a free indie game called Nitronic Rush. You play as a car and your goal is to reach the end of the track as soon as possible. However, it takes a unique spin on the genre, by adding wings to the car allowing for a temporary flight, jumping abilities, rotating in the midair with a set of dual controls (WASD + arrows) and deadly traps. It is very climatic and has got huge modding community and ton of tracks. Steam version is better because of that, although you can get it drm free.

b)Them Fighting Herd

http://store.steampowered.com/app/574980/Thems_Fightin_Herds/

Cute Equine characters, akin to My Little Pony, beating the crap out of each other. A damn good fighting game, with great difficulty and amazing art style.

c)Shantae Series:

-You can currently get first two games on gog, the third one should come in a year or so hopefully.

https://www.gog.com/game/shantae_and_the_pirates_curse

-It is 2D platformer, with great characters and damn good game mechanics.

d)Cossacks:

https://www.gog.com/game/cossacks_anthology

-One of the best classic games, on top with stronghold series. Very enjoyable, but later instalments suck.

e)Disciples 2:

https://www.gog.com/game/disciples_2_gold

It is a 2D game, similar to heroes, but simpler. You can not move your units across the battlemap and the fights are duels basically. Third game sucks.

f)Rayman 2 and 3:

-One of the best 3D platformers of all time. I definitely like it more than Origins and such.

https://www.gog.com/game/rayman_3_hoodlum_havoc

https://www.gog.com/game/rayman_2_the_great_escape

g)Far Cry 1:

https://www.gog.com/game/far_cry

-Get it cheap on gog.

-First Far Cry and still one of the best in my opinion. It is really bloody tough, very climatic and good storyline. I used to be scared of this game, when I was younger.

h)Besiegie:

-It is a design your own machine to complete the objective kind of a game. It is good, but it targets specific audience.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/346010/Besiege/

i)HyperDimension Neptunia series on GOG.com

-Parody of the entire gaming industry with anime characters. Grindy, but fun. Still get it on sale.
-A jRPG.

https://www.gog.com/game/hyperdimension_neptunia_rebirth1

j)Orcs Must Die 1 and nothing else after that.

-A tower defence game with a twist. You play as a battle mage and stop hordes of orcs with traps and automatic crossbow. Very fun.
-The later games introduced forced COOP and the game became annoying.

Playing some Far Cry 5 and enjoying it immensely, despite every jagoff online and irl and thier bullshit think peices. Or the dudes who shat on Far Cry 2 a decade ago lecturing me about fun. Its rich. Looking foward to playing the Vietnam DLC, looking even more foward to playing co-op with my Vietnam vet father.

Finally made it to the Nuclear Throne in said game !

Hoped back in to Kingdom Come, been rasing my mace levels and unlocking appropriate perks. Got a tier 5 horse damn what a difference from Roach.

Fantastic bundle containing all the Endless games. 10 for all of them is a complete steal. I already got them all but if you'd be interested it's the best time. Really. Even if it's just Dungeon Of The Endless for 1$.

Getting closer to 55 of the Into The Breach's Archievements.

But alas that is not the end!

Firewatch is supposedly the anti thesis of escapism, but I think the game is actually does offer really powerfull escapism, it allows people to escape into a world where they are deep and mature for liking a shitty game.

I was playing a mod in Morrowind called Skyrim: Home of the Nords. It's kinda fun but it has few quests, most of the dungeons are not done, and it's glitchy. It is just a beta though.

Random aside: I'm really annoyed they don't seem to intend to release CALL OF JUAREZ: THE CARTEL to Xbox One.

I mean it's downloadable already on Xbox 360!
