Hotline Miami 2 got second place and the new toy soldiers game got first place. Here's a video of them talking about Fallout 4, I recommend it. It's good to see some of the big sites actually being honest about the game.

Well now that their checks from Bethesda have been cleared I have been noticing that these major game sites have become more critical of Fallout 4 and have begun to look at the game objectively instead of with rose colored lenses. Not surprising, they did this with Skyrim and I knew they would do this with Fallout 4.
Most of these gaming news sites are just a extension of publishers advertising. Its disgusting to me how many of these sites will deceive gamers by saying that this game is a 9 or 10 out of 10 before launch and then months later say "nah just kidding, this game is a disappointing piece of crap that is really like a 5 or a 6. We all need to stop giving into the hype!" :whatever:

Couldn't stand the one guy in the video that was jumping through so many hoops to defend FO4, forgot his name, I think he's new to the site though.

Sadly, it doesn't even matter that they get to be honest after. The title GOTY is already there, if you are buying your games later all you're gonna see is the positive critics and the GOTY title.

That guy was talking out of his ass, Companions tell you interesting stories? Which ones? Oh because they repeat one liners in an extremely bugged out way? Nick Valentine is the only one with a companion quest and it's a shitty fetch quest where you can't even influence how he acts...
Millions of Quests in Diamond City and all of them interesting? There are very little quests in there and all of the quests are super linear.... like all of the other quests they are purely Kill Quests with the exception of the quest where you investigate the disappereance.

I am not dissapointed because I expected it to be janky, so they don't have to fix it.

For a game to be disappointing there has to be some hype surrounding it in the first place. I don't think any game had more hype around it than Fallout 4 and when it failed to deliver a proper role-playing game I'd consider that an immense disappointment that is greater than every other game not only of 2015 but of recent years.

I'm sadly a Fallout fan so I played it anyway, but I think it's pretty clear after games like Aliens: Colonial Marines and Fallout 4 that the more a game is hyped the bigger a disappointment it will be. There must be an inverse relationship between marketing and quality.

People are considering the game to be disappointing after 200+ hours of gameplay. It's an extended version of the rush Skyrim provided, but it doesn't provide much more longevity or lasting influence.

But it appeals to everyone, so it's going to stay fresh for as long as possible. That's Bethesda aiming for making each game last not very long, but not having too much of a gap between games, rather than making a good game that lasts a long time while taking that long time to make an even better game.

It's the industry standard nowadays. As long as it makes the money flow in, it's a success.

Until they pull a Ubisoft and lose all the goodwill they have built up over the past 15 years. You can only do the same thing so many times before it eventually gets old. The industry standard has killed plenty of good developers over the years. Fallout 4 feels like they stopped making the game 3/4 through, announced when it was coming out, and tossed the shit out the door. The content is barebones. I have never played a Bethesda game that felt so lifeless.

Sure, there are signs of life, but the communities filled with NPC's that actually have something meaningful to say are so thin it baffles me they thought it was okay to release in this state. It has been one of their stablest releases yet. I will give them that. The problem is I still had over 10 crashes in my first playthrough. The content runs out so quick that many people don't realize the Radiant quests go on forever. The game leads you to believe there is more there. Sure, you have a lot of locations to visit, but what is the point when there is nothing to do but kill/loot/build? You might get 100 hours out of one game but how much of that is spent doing worthwhile activities as opposed to carting around large amounts of junk to build more junk?

Fallout 4 has been snuffed as GOTY. Regardless of the money made, you can guarantee Bethesda has noticed the negative reaction to Fallout 4, and is planning accordingly. Whether that means they listen to the right people or not I cannot say. At this point they might as well add vehicles, and turn it into a fucking MMO.

Ha well of course they'll do it after spending all the money off those bribe checks Bethesda slipped under the desk since even Bethesda knew in terms of the game itself it was boring shit. They just needed to spend all of that budget on the market hype train.
Interesting quests? Companions with good backstories? Shooting is fun? I got bored of killing things after a couple hours in and 95% of weapons look like dog shit and he must of meant orc-hulk hybrids not super mutants. The quests have such variety too like instead of killing orcs I can kill zombies, "variety".

But you can also do repeatable fetch quests where you visit the same place and find the same components until you puke.

Honest or not, but I had to stop after 15 min. of listening. It got the impression they could not say one thing without feeling like they had to apologize for saying something critical about the game. However, when I think about all the trolls out there ... can I really blame them? Say one bad thing, and you have maybe thousands of people spaming on your chanel or what ever how full of shit you are. Still, I enjoyed Totalbiscuit a lot more, when he had a conversation with 3 other guys about Fallout 4. And he flat out said, this is not Fallout anymore. No suggar coating it. No bullshiting. Just the plane truth. Sadly I can't find that video right now, but someone posted it here on NMA I am sure.

Wait, wut? Hotline Miami 2 is one of the most disappointing game of 2015? What the fuck were they smoking, it's better than HLM1 in every way and HLM1 was already really damn good. And to add to that they finally got off their lazy asses and released the beta version of the Level Editor and so we've been able to create even more content for ourselves and it's one of the most disappointing game of 2015? Yeah, fuck them.

Hotline Miami 2 has a way better storyline, it has way more interesting characters, its sountrack is way better, the gameplay mechanics are smoother and not as imprecise, the aesthetics is way better and alters far more than it did in HLM1, it's more difficult, it has a hard-mode and like I said they just released the beta of the level editor.

I bet that whoever's behind that list is a fan of The Fans are all butthurt over that they didn't get more screentime. Fuck The Fans anyway, Jake and Richter all the way.

Which one you talking about? HLM2 or Fallout 4? Cause I don't really care if they were lazy when it came to developing HLM2, it still turned out great. As to Fallout 4, with the amount of shit I've seen in the game I don't really see what people mean when they say that Fallout 4 doesn't feel like a game that took 4 years to design. I mean, are we really that entitled? Fallout 4 is a big ass game with tons of shit in it. What Fallout 4 turned out to be doesn't seem like something anyone could churn out in like 2 years. It's not like Bethesda could just empty their trashbin on a table and it'd look exactly like Fallout 4. No every little bit in that game took development and like I said Fallout 4 'is' a big fucking game when it comes to its exploration aspect. So to me it doesn't feel like 4 years was squandered when it comes to exploration. I'd say what was squandered was balancing, writing, gameplay mechanic (outside of the gunning aspect) and of course the RPG aspect. Fallout 4 does feel like a game that took 4 years to complete, it's just that they focused those 4 years on two aspects so much that the other aspects got left behind or didn't get enough development.

Why do people keep using that word, "entitled," to defend unpolished, unfinished, buggy, glitchy games?

If you really don't know why people say the game doesn't look like it was in development for 4 years, look at the myriad of YouTube videos showing off all the bugs, glitches, weird character spawns/animations, dialogue glitches, quest glitches, etc.

It's not even a new game engine - it's filled with loading screens and is the exact same thing as Skyrim only set in the Fallout 4 universe.

If they spent 4 years on this game and did not even use a new engine then it SHOULD look thoroughly polished and have an amazing dialogue system, and the character animations should not be looking like robots. Instead, the quests seem to be 90% procedurally generated base clearing quests with 10% actual written quests that are basically Kid in the Fridge and Cabot House quality, and the dialogue system constantly fails with characters either talking over each other or having nothing to say but different variations of "Yes."
