GTA V

I played GTA IV. It was dull. Too...realistic, you know? Too much running around doing everyday things.
Saints Row 2 was better. That game was nuts, but not to the point where it got absurd (like SR3).

Mission design in GTA4 was more repetitive than in VC or SA, no getting around that fact. But also, the driving mechanics became a lot more fun to me since 4 with also somewhat improved shooting. Those alone made me have a lot of fun with it anyway. Plus I can forgive a weaker SP campaign when I consider that they also had to create a brand new engine and a multiplayer, which they didn't have to do when making VC or SA. If Episodes hadn't improved in SP department I'd probably be saying that Rockstar lost some of their touch, but they did improve.
So yeah, I can understand someone not liking GTA4 very much, especially if they are not into multiplayer, but not to the point of actually calling it "crap". It's still a very well made game in a lot of ways.

Well, if you haven't tried Ballad of Gay Tony then you don't know what you are missing. Much better than the core game, as BN said earlier, plus you start off in a much better part of town. The multiplayer is on point too. Nothing like driving around with a friend, gunning down whoever gets in your way, and parachuting off a skyscraper, only to get taken out by someone flying a helicopter.

I think I'll hold off on buying the game. Here's my reasoning. I had played every GTA since the first one and Four didn't really captivate me. I plowed through it twice and didn't fancy playing it anymore. It had good characters, but the plot left a lot to be desired. Then what similar urban crime game on PS3 did really excite me? Yakuza 3 - and Yakuza 4 too.

That game excels where GTA4 fell short in my books: Storyline and a TON of things to do. GTA4 had only a handful of those side missions you get from a random guy on the street. Whereas in Yak 3, those small missions form a gigantic chunk of the whole entertainment experience. And they mix in eccentric Japanese humor with brutal action. One moment you are settling childrens' arguments in your orphanage or chasing dine-and-dashers, then you're smashing thugs with billboards or nunchakus. Then trying to maintain your balance while transporting two ridiculously high ice cream cones in a crowded sidewalk. You get the picture. With Yakuza 3 and 4 I had way more FUN than with GTA4.

The point is, I first want to hear how much content there is in GTA5's enormous world. Is it just empty space or has there been significant progress since GTA4. Where is the emphasis? Plot, allies or so forth.

I'm totally agree with your opinion about GTAV.
but Yakuza series? I haven't heard about it.
Does it's original name isn't Takuza?
it's name might be translated and known differently in my country.

Nope, it's Yakuza and it's made for PS3 by Sega. Takes place in Kabukicho in Tokyo. It's like GTA, but instead of driving cars you go on foot and there's a great close combat system. Back when I procured the game I was a rookie with PS3 controllers but I found the combat controls easy to learn, but there's a big amount of more sophisticated functions to master. The storyline is the main focus in this series, but there's so much stuff to do. Here's the intro:

If you'd like to read a unique review of the game, in this article some genuine Japanese Yakuza play the game and comment on its accuracy.

Here's a quote from the article:

S: I don't know any ex-yakuza running orphanages.
K: There was one a few years ago. A good guy.
M: You sure it wasn't just a tax shelter?
K: Sure it was a tax shelter but he ran it like a legitimate thing. You know.

Ok I got it.
it's translated in my country as "like the dragon"
Thank you.

You are correct, the Japanese name for the series is "Ryu ga Gotoku" which is precisely what you said.

I too disliked GTA IV, it was ok, but not like the previous titles. Now I am playing GTA V and its very fun and enjoyable. This is what GTA IV should have been..

Pulled an all nighter yesterday thanks to it, now I am tired. :D

Been looking at some streams people playing it and looks like a lot of fun, damn, i hope it comes for the pc too.

For a moment I was thinking about buying it.

Then I have seen the price tag and decided that I do not need this yet.

Also I find it funny that the game on amazon costs 50 euro and in the playstation store 69 euro. I still remember how people said back in the years that digital distribution will make game prices to drop. Now they are more often cheaper if you don't buy them digital.

I don't even have a console anyway. I wonder how long it will take THIS time for the hype machine to wear off. People are even excited about on this forum. Open world games lack quality and focus, it's always been true. So I don't get excited about CarDrivingDrugReferenceMurderSimulator 5: Totally better this time.

lol... 69 euros for a fucking game - i think not. I can eat for half a month with that money.

When it is released on PC it will probably be on a site i use for my expensive purchases.. Wich means i will probably save like 60% right of the bat :) Guess that could be worth it!
