Bollock, with full automatization approaching at frightening rate they'll send a ROBOCOP in. Ask Vuk, he knows.
ROBOCOP is basically a documentary about Detroit.
On a more serious note though, the army is toying around with the idea of autonomous weapons and some people in the UN think about outlawing it, if there isn't at least a human making the decisions.
But what do you think? How long would it take before we might see some form of law enforcement robot on the streets? 20 years? 40? Maybe 50?
I actually would welcome it, because I have no doubt that a sophisticated AI would do a much better job at not shooting civilians for being drunk, or yelling at them, for the very simple reason that a machine doesn't have to shoot a suspect out of 'fear' for its own life.
It's really just a matter of time, before we actually see something like an autonomous robot doing police work out there on the streets, and once they proven to be more effective than humans, they would be also armed. All that matters, is the question if they perform less errors than human beings. It's not to far away from what you see in arguments with autonomous cars today. Give those technologies a couple of decades, and who knows what will happen. Just because something sounds like science fiction now, doesn't have to mean it might not be the reality in 50 years.
Dubai Police have revealed their first robot officer, giving it the task of patrolling the city's malls and tourist attractions.
People will be able to use it to report crimes, pay fines and get information by tapping a touchscreen on its chest.
Data collected by the robot will also be shared with the transport and traffic authorities.
The government said the aim was for 25% of the force to be robotic by 2030 but they would not replace humans.
"We are not going to replace our police officers with this tool," said Brig Khalid Al Razooqi, director general of smart services at Dubai Police.
"But with the number of people in Dubai increasing, we want to relocate police officers so they work in the right areas and can concentrate on providing a safe city.

That no one deserves to be shoot by the police for cursing, screaming or the like, because the police isn't a jurry, judge and executioner in one person? Seperation of power and all that useless jazz.
I am just asking you, because I just try to get behind your reasoning. Otherwise I would have only to assume why you're in such favour of the police in such cases.
You seem to me almost positive about anything they do, be it from beating civilians, to torturing them, to killing them, you name it. It's like they can do no wrong for you, because something always 'justifies' their actions. It's like as if a doctor kills his patients in like half of his surgies, but you know, on some days he didn't had enough sleep, on others to much, the caffeine was to blame for some mistake as his hands jerked around, and so on and so forth ...
