Heavy Rain: What has been Watched can not be Unwatched

So is this game is really nothing but a qte fest... seriously. Actually i think this will not be succesfull title, really, i cant see the appeal in any way. 50 e for a movie.

On the other hand i didnt totally hate shenmue.

It's being hyped up the ass. If nothing else, dedicated PS-fanboys (I can never get being a fan of a particular console but hey*) will buy it, because it's their Console's Title.

* I was pro-Sega as a kid but hey, I was a kid, and it is a very juvenile attitude towards a product

NES > Sega.

Also, this game looks like crap. No wonder it's only exclusive on one platform. I'm assuming lack of interest or cares.

Actually it is exclusive because Sony Computer Entertainment is publishing the game. And there is hardly any lack of interest or caring, The game has been hyped endlessly and has many people excited, especially since now it is getting such favorable reviews.

Not for everyone but there is definitely an audience for this type of story driven game.

It's averaging 89 on metacritic, that's pretty low for an AAA title.

Sorry. I speak the truth.

And also, i've never heard of this game. So it's done a really good job in getting me to buy a PS3.

Uncharted 2 was supposed to get to buy a PS3, man.

You know what got me to get a console? The new Mario Bros. game on the Wii. More proof of the awesomeness of my childhood AND the NES.

Who was hyping AAA? It has been hyped but people are reasonable, it is a niche title at best targeted at a certain audience. On system wars the "official hype" was AA. So far it has met that.

Granted this is not System Wars (thank god). When it comes to arguing about scores however they are all pros.

I doubt they were aiming this as a blockbuster title that everyone will flip out over, I see no marketing budget behind it such as games like Uncharted 2 and MAG, those are the types that sell the system.

Oh yeah, and since we are talking PlayStation in general a random tid bit of trivia, Metal Gear Solid 4 recently became the best selling PS3 exclusive by passing the 5 million mark.

This video represents everything that's wrong with the West nowadays. Literally everything.

System Wars being the site that ridiculously attributes "AA status" by looking at GameSpot score? I keep forgetting.

Oh please. AAA or AA is not a matter of hype or review scores, it's about development budget and PR. The E3 Casting Demo hype was enormous even if it's a while ago, I think this game applies for AAA status.

Even if it doesn't, 89 on metacritic puts it in the league of Demon's Souls and MLB 09: The Show. And that's early reviews, games always drop .1 to .5 on Metacritic in the second round as more sensible, thoughtful voices dominate the latter part of the debate.

89 isn't bad, it just doesn't justify you saying it's getting "such favorable reviews". In the modern game industry, we're talking 95+ on metacritic before we start speaking of review scores turning heads, especially for an exclusive.

Yeah, SW "Officially" uses GS scores but they also use Metacritic as well just as much, but not part of the official rules. I am not defending GS, I have issues with them as well but for a place like that to even begin to function they had to lay down some basic rules so I understand why they did what they did.

It is all personal opinion I suppose. For me anything that is 85 or above definitely deserves a look. Games 95 and above I would only reserve for very special titles that in most cases is already assumed to be a block buster.

I would say that most people would consider an 89 for such an unusual and niche game pretty damn good. Right now it is currently the first in the top 100 selling games on Amazon. Here is to hoping it will get a good run.

I am just happy developers are still willing to take risk and try new things instead of just make another cookie cutter FPS or RPG.

wow, this game sure looks like it's gonna suck. yet, with it being "innovatine" and all, it'll probably be hyped out of this world.

Why?
Irresponsible parenting. Spoiled, unruly children. Overall decline in mental faculties. Consumerism. Lack of societal cohesion and empathy. Empowerment of women. Badly regulated traffic. Clowns.

Oh, and also shitty game design that relies on banal mechanics and cheap eye-candy.

All you naysayers be damned, this is some real innovation, something that is sorely lacking in the sequel ridden video game world.

As for it being one long quick time event, if you watch some of the gameplay stuff, there are often many different choices to make, not just one.

And for all the whining these days about how video game writing has sucked, this game is an example that there are some real talented writers out there.

You must be confusing choice and QTEs for innovation.
Yeah, it's different from other games out there. That doesn't mean it's innovative, just different.

Is it? Because again: judging by their previous games, these writers suck ass.

It actually looks like PS3 Home, if you ask me.

Out of curiosity, I skimmed through a couple of reviews (first ones google gave me: mtv and destructoid) and it sounds exactly what I thought it would be like.

Basically, there are a lot of choices but they are just illusions of choice and it's actually pretty difficult to affect anything in the game, including your own survival. In fact, you can actually put down your controller and not die, even in some "deadly" situations.

Both reviewers hated the opening few hours. You actually do nothing but spend an ungodly amount of time shaving, brushing your teeth, sitting around, applying make-up, etc. These fun activities don't disappear either, you have to engage in that shit from time to time throughout the game.

Both, also agreed that the story was "far from decent", with some really dumb twists.

The writing and the voice overs are also horrible but we already know that.

The only really good points were regarding some very thrilling and intense scenes.

I'll pass. It doesn't only seem like Indigo Prophecy, it actually seems worse.
