I mean why don't leave the Screen Set button in the Main Menu? It is more understandable for new players and for everybody else to have it there. What do you think, lads?
Personally, I think the options panel is the logical place for it. It is a game option, like all of the others under the options panel.

And why is it that big of a problem to do the extra click to change the resolution? It's not like it's a setting most people will be constantly changing. People will change it a few times to figure out how they want it set, and most will leave it at that setting from that point forward.

That was my thinking too. I might adjust the options panel in the future though, to make the screen settings button a bit more obvious.

Mash,
I tried the code from version 2.0a to enable "Screen Set" button in the main-menu and it doesn't work. This one:

Code:
;Position of the Hi-Res Settings Button in the Main-Menu: valid positions are 1-7.
HI_RES_BUTTON_POS=5

Can you make it possible to enable this option in your next version to make me happy  , please? I liked it so much. I am working on Czech version of RP 1.2 and wish to have it this way :)

SCRN button is no problem to remove. I just deleted SCRNDN.FRM and SCRNUP.FRM. I might to leave that button there. I did not decided yet but if you add the option to disable this button it would be better. Thanks and I hope you will help me with this :notworthy:

Sorry JaW,
Although I might change the way the screen settings are accessed in future releases. I wont be reinstating a direct link from the main-menu.

Well, I thought it won't be big deal to add code into ini file and leave it disabled. In this case I will use your older version in the installer. Thanks anyway :(

I have the White Label Fallout pack, and the patch for Fallout 1 works perfectly, but I can't get the Fallout 2 to work. I assume this is because it doesn't support the WL exe file.

So, my question is, is there any plan to update the FO2 patch to work with the White Label version?

I have (and use) the White Label Fallout Collection and my FO2 is patched with the High-Resolution patch, it works fine with me.

I believe the White Label pack comes with version 1.0 of the "fallout2.exe". You will need to update to one of the supported version to get the hi-res patch working. You should probably do this anyway as there are a lot of bugs in the original version. I'd recommend Killap's unofficial fallout2 patch which you can grab from his web page here.

I'm not sure which version my white label is, but I just couldn't get it to work.

Thanks for the quick answer. I can tell you that something like that didn't even cross my mind.

Anyway, I'll try it and see if it works. Thanks!

EDIT: It worked like a charm. Thanks again!

great work mate.
i've got a tough nut for you to crack if you're up to it.
the patcher is incompatible with Wine and wine doesn't wanna budge. so, is there any way that this installer could be remade as a installwizard or something else that is more universal?

it's the patcher itself that clogs up, so if you could PM me the modded .exe's for both fallout 1 and 2 it would be great. unless it breaks forum rules.

it would also suggest a more permanent solution by swapping the patcher for a modded .exe

although this could ofcourse create some conflict with other mods... maan, how can this be solved? i'd rather play this game on my laptop than bomb out the electric bill on the desktop.

anyways, thanks for some great work.

I've been having a look at this running ubuntu under vmware. I got the patcher working by installing the MS Visual C++ 6 sp6 runtime libraries, I used the winetricks script to do this. Unfortunately that's as far as I got as fallout2 now hangs when started. I'm afraid I'm out of my element when it comes to Linux so if there are any Linux guru's out there who've managed to get it working I'd be interested to know the details.

10x, work done good. All my russian friends playing LEV CORP :)) and using ur patch.

p.s. belt is a cool idea!
p.s.2. may u add me to 10x list? :P

Thanks DimiZ, Glad to hear that the patch is working well for the Russian players. :)

Either something got lost in translation or I'm missing something obvious, but I have no idea what you meant by that last bit. What's a "10x list"?

10x == thanks list maybe?

Sheesh that's a bit of a stretch, I really have to work on my internet slang. :)
In that case consider it done DimiZ. There have been a few other people who have sent me info over the years, I'll add their names as well. You'll have to wait a little while though, as I probably won't be releasing a new version in the immediate future.

Edit:
I've updated my Fallout 2 Hi-res patch to version 2.2b. Just a minor release to fix a problem with the screen going blank after a Hakunin dream movie. Link's in my sig and on the first page.

movie glitches

When I apply the high res patch, movies are now displaying in a glitched out fashion,
doesn't matter what res, or what scaling is used for video. Anyone else had any similar issues?
Works fine with just sfall.

Sounds like your using an old version of sfall, you should download the latest version from here.
If you're using a version of sfall that came with a mod or patch make sure you transfer over any changed settings in the ddraw.ini.

Seems you are correct :)
I did have the newest sfall, but I think I forgot to revert back to it post-restoration pack install.

Thanks!

EDIT-FIXED

Ok I have fixed my error by updating directx. It seems some of the files from older versions are not included in dx 11 from windows 7. I used directx web setup to download missing files.

I have already posted this in RP tread but guess it belongs here.

My problem is that when I try to use Sfall in SCRN options and restart game after usual "failure to initialize input devices" which I fixed editing ddraw.ini I encounter another error.

The instruction at 00379ae4 referenced memory at 00000000
The memory could not be read from

Click OK to terminate application

I am using RP 2.0.2 on clean install of Fallout 2 from my old disc without any other mods. I have Windows 7 in English with English version of the game. I have installed Fallout in C:\Fallout 2\ rather than in Program Files. I have also tried running it as an administrator but same thing happens.

I should note that everything works fine when editing back ddraw.ini and just using high resolution without directx9 rendering.

I would like to know what does GPU BLITTING option do? Should I turn this on? And also what is the difference between just using plain high resolution and directx 9 rendering(I figured out that is what other option in SCRN does. Not quite sure.). What are visible in-game effects?

Sorry for bothering you with stupid questions.
