Interplay Website launched, hires Chris Taylor

It's a double edged sword.

I really wish these guys were being brought back to work on a Fallout 3, but they had to sell the rights to Fallout 3 to bring them back...

The MMO market seems like a much more risky investment these days, than a true sequel to the Fallouts.

wonder what that mmo will be like? isometric and turn based like the good old games?

dont think well ever se another true fallout game from interplay any time soon, im guessing bethesda will milk the "fallout" name for all its worth... :(

It would be kind of nice if it was like the Simpsons' episode in which Burns sells the nuclear power plant to German investors and later buys it back from them.

Bethesda "Eh, Mr Caen, this is much lower than what we paid for the franchise... "

By the way, I hope they'll get Mark Morgan to compose the music. He said he'd like to compose for FO3, but was never asked to.

And I hope they'll be able to afford Perlman for the intro. He's not cheap now, but in an MMO only the intro is required, since MMOs have no endings.

As a FO fan, I too am interested in any potential blooming of post apoc' content.

FOT lured the 4too persona from the primordial lurk, and this Chris T. fielded my FOT question.
In spite of it's inarticulate rage about FOT bugs, received a relevant respectful reply. Becalmed the troubled waters.
So Chris T. can read "4too", not that this mad communication skillz qualifies as a line item in life's greater resume,
but may haps a worthy footnote clutters the small print beneath the main text.

Now that we know for sure Fallout 3 is going to be not much better than FOBOS (worse even, if you consider the fact FOBOS never pretended to be a sequel), FOOL is actually looking quite promising in comparison.

Yes, it's FOOL. Yes, it's Interplay. But hey: the devs are not idiots this time.

Really? Because "can read 4too" is listed amongst "Relevant skills" on my resume.

And damned proud of it.

Its true what i read on the wiki page of fallout 13 project?? that interplay not only sell the rights to make fallout 3+, they sell the whole ip to besheda??

Yes. Now it's Interplay who's licensing the rights to Fallout Online from Bethesda.

If anything comes out of this..

there is one thing I want to see and that is.

Ceasers' Legion.

That was a bad ass sounding group.

I'm more excited about FOOL right now than I am about Fallout 3. And that is saying something.

Yeah, it's saying you don't know what you're saying

Seriously, though - while it might interest Joe Sixpack gamer (me?!) to have a PA WoW clone, I just can't see hardcore Fallout fans (me?!) getting excited about this, at all. Ever played a MMO?

I tried WoW for 2 weeks, and it was making me sick to the point that it was hard to stop. While there's certainly something there that lends to the quality of the product, what it had me doing cannot be trutfully described as gaming. YMMV, but it would shock me if it truly did.

I am more excited about a spin-off (any spin-off) that returns some of the original designers back home than the permanent crippling of the franchise that is Fallout 3. I'm fairly sure I know what I'm saying, and I'm fairly sure I qualify as a hardcore Fallout fan - whatever that is.

That would be awesome and solve the mount problem at the same time. Ridable chariots made out of cars.

Wouldn't it be great, if they would make heaps of money with this mmo and then rebuy the Fallout licen..... Mmm, fantasizing is nice

I dream of this, too, comrade.

I hope FOOL ins't just another MMORPG, but a revolution and sign of maturity of the genre. Fallout MMORPG CAN work, I know that, I played it.

I can't wait to cruise the wasteland with my guild, camping mobs for ph4t l3wt...

ugh... Fallout MMO... c'mon guys, this sounds brutal.

Bemused Attention

Bemused Attention

Searching my personal pockets.
No emotional attachment to MMO's amongst the cache of coins, keys, and lone barlow knife,
so little baggage and precognitions to haunt my bemused attention.
Trust the buzz about a FO MMO will attract curious traffic to the diversity of Interplay titles, and visa versa.

Feel more is at stake for RPG computer games with B-soft's deconstruction / reconstruction of FO themes for the Oblivion market.
Will the FO3 FPS construct appease the shooter, -- present -- oriented, demographic ... while ...
while the alleged ARPG elements expand the scope of the gameplay for those that seek to build a character and negotiate a story line to a dramatic -- future -- reward?

And can B-soft do this "the first time" with out the mythic stable shoveling efforts, and 'free' labor, of their mod fans?

Mused attention, sad if the Prima Cheat Book is a better graphic presentation ( a better is what it is), then B-soft's FO3 a viable FO simulator.
Sure, conflict resolution is in full frontal FPS so that market share gets its' cake,
but will the RPG allusions build on the action in a variety of meta strategies?
Happy accident in our future, or just another propagandized middle of the road shooter?
Well, if FO3 only emulates the post apoc' imagery, then can lower the bar accordingly.
Is what it is, what ever it is, is as fair as it gets.

@ BN. Thanks for the support.
My first gen sentences still bristle with tangential associations, and have more akin to cross word puzzles than linear communication.
Trying for trajectory vectors, and trip over these clusters of vector spaces.
Just have to hack and slash off the extra accompaniment. Leave 2 ears, 1 nose, and 3 eyes. ;)
Writing not an oscillating 4 dimensional symphonic wave form, but a spiral light of strings or a tight twist of thought threads.
Simple as a, b. c to the x , y, z, pausing to refresh in the l, m, n, o, p ....
