Jagged Alliance 2

Jebus I read your post and wondered what the... The saw the last line, yeah it will probably take a lot of time when UC will be converted totally. Tough it will be worth it since, almost a new game on its own. And Strategy First should have invested into that project rather then Wildfire.

Actually, it's pretty much totally converted already. I haven't found any instabilities or bugs whatsoever in the last build I played - and that's already three builds ago.

I dunno why the guy doesn't just release it - I think it's done, personally.
But JA modders tend to be perfectionists, I guess.

I'd keep an eye out for it, regardless - it can't be that far off. I think I remember the developer saying something about a final Beta build recently...

If they can't fix the problem that every game that progresses beyond 30-40% becomes completely unplayable, they really shouldnt release it yet.

Explain please. I finished the game the last time approx 3 weeks ago and in general finished ja2 1.13 already 4, 5, 6 or more often but I didn't saw something that looked wrong.

My game hangs randomly when soldiers attack cities defended with militia, especially when attacking Sheraton. The battle screen pops up and nothing happens. Later on after taking Galileo I started getting random crashes during time compression and called it quits.

Hmm never got that on my machine. For me it runs pretty smooth. Sometimes it still crashs but that's not a big deal and not game breaking.

I played it about 5 months ago. I made a small mod that makes the To&Es less "gamey".

I made enemy soldiers carry M16A1, with 1 enemy in nine carrying M60. I made them all carry flak vests.
I decreased the amount of soldiers and stopped reinforcements from creating, because there's an absurd amount of soldiers when compared to amount of civilians, so there's no need for creating new ones.

Mercs start out with C7 rifles, NVG googles and several grenades.

I decreased prices of guns a bit.

Anyway, I had some fun when playing iron man with these settings. Later, some other game has sucked me in before I managed to finish it.

I tried continuing the campaign about two weeks ago, but I find the game setting bland and unattractive.

Okay, so I have discovered this wonderful game a few days ago, I'm impressed at how *immersive* and fun the Turn-Based combats are in this game.

But the point of my post is not this. You all already know how great a game this is. The point of my post is that I just discovered there is a multiplayer mode that is supposed to be included in the last version of the v1.13 patch. Edit : no, in fact it seems to be an additional mod

Sadly I don't have time these days to try it out but I'm really looking forward to it.
Just thought some of you guys would want to check it out.

JA ... good old times. Good old times. Shooting mike, lisening to reaper, scope and lynx. Mad Dogs stupid but sometimes awsome rampage ...

Tried JA2 Wildfire once. And after the patch it was even possible to play it.

Funny that this thread is up again, I for myself also reinstalled it yesterday + the 1.13 patch. And it's wonderfull again, though I forgot to untick this stupid "Science Fiction" Mode, I hate those creatures randomly slaughtering my mine workers.

But the game mechanics, especially with the 1.13 patch makes the game very very good. It's by far the best Turn Based Combat System I know.

You know you can destroy the nest so they never come back, right?

Yes but where is the fun in that, they bring random chaos into game. Had three way battle once, I knew they were gong to show up in Grunn also queen had large force in next sector. While I was into 3rd turn with creptus gray shirt's show up and now the real battle starts. A real massacre for gray shirt's but in the end their numbers won and so did the rocket rifle that one of them had. Still it was interesting to watch.

I'd rather have 50 vials of Royal Jelly than crepitus roaming around. Call me crazy!

I know it's been said many times before, but if Fallout had JA2's combat, it would be the undisputed greatest game of all time and nothing else would be close - except maybe Arcanum if it had JA2's combat.

Ah, happy memories! JA2 +1.13

First, decide which combat gear to carry, a good vest is essential

Then weapon of choice..

Then all hell breaks loose..

Fuckin' love this game, 1.13 was a GOD of a mod it turned what was by far and above the best tactical game since x-com and turned it into the most awesome TB tactical game ever. Ever. Ever... in fact.. best tactical TB or not.

I'd wet my pants if JA could be re done with sexy mofo-ass 3d gfx (a bit like UFO: aftermath did for x-com, but. better)

I honestly would wee a little each time I played a JA game that had the depth and challenge of JA2+1.13 with graphics that matched modern capabilities...

Just imagine the DX10 (or DX11 if you must) rendered scene as your mercs carefully wade through long rushes approaching an outpost, rain glistening on their camo'd faces and glints of light flashing off of their weapons and rigging...

OOOOOOH I NEED A TISSUE! :aiee:

What about the JA2 Unfinished Business? Or the JA2 Deidranna Lives mod?
But the JA2 was the best, of course. Good old times, when I played JA2 all night to 8AM. 8-)

I tried the Wildfire too, but that mod had something bug, and I cannot collect any money from the mines.

I've been playing with the latest SCI version of 1.13 which includes HAM 3.6, and it's really great. It's gotten better just in the past few months. The improved enemy AI is implemented now, which means the Arulcan army is capable of launching massive counter-attacks on important sectors other than the Drassen mine area. I just took the southeast corner of Cambria and cranked out as many militia as I could before the army lauched a massive simultaneous attack from the east and the south. I set the parameters so there can be 64 militia + 64 enemies on the screen at the same time: the bodies are piling up everywhere. :D

Team:
AJAX - my IMP merc
DMITRI
IRA
HAMOUS
RAZOR
DR.Q

That's funny when you enter a sector and crows eating the dead bodies. And you can shoot the birds.
