Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm

Max is a wet blanket. And the fact that she is a photographer hipster makes her a bad person by default.

I like the version where you can Eutanasia Chloe.

I do note it's kind of interesting how BEFORE THE STORM prevents me from playing Chloe the way I like to play: nice, cautious, and polite.

Because that's not Chloe.

I have to hit the mean, nasty, angry, and stupid button as much as I can.

But it's entertaining as hell.

When Alt-righters complain about how anything is anti white men, they are probably thinking of this game. It's kinda funny how heavy handed it is, even the guy who likes Chloe turns into Mr. Rapeguy when the game needs to create conflict.

Eh, while Eliot was set up to be the asshole rapist guy out of nowhere, Frank is really mellowed out.

You wouldn't think a thirty something drug dealer who dates an 18 year old client of his could be depicted as heroic.

We also have Skip, who I wish had a bigger role.

Doesn't Frank potentially murder Max in the sequel and brags about killing a guy in casual conversation? His characterization in this prequel is just weird.

Yes, the guy he killed turns out to be pure evil and he saves Amber and Chloe three times.

To be fair, he only tries to kill Chloe if she shoots his dog.

He does look like he's going to hurt Max if she messes with his beans, though.

Stand up guy.

"I was eating those beans, Bitch!" *Lunges at her with a knife* = Stand Up guy.

"I like Chloe so much I wrote this poem" = Rapist.

Haven't you heard that pen is mightier than sword?

Also I hate how Chloe's interactions with David look. He's sometimes asshole, but not because he likes it, but because he has problems with founding his new life. And all your interactions with him are either being annoying prick or being even more annoying prick.

Before the Storm was already stretching it really thin, what other character could they even base it around?

But we already know her story, wha else is there to tell? Before the Storm even ends with her getting killed in Jefferson Hipster dungeon.

They should just move on to new characters.

It depends what story they're telling. Yes, the conclusion is foregone but it's also a story with time travel.

They should just move on to new characters.

Eh, I consider the heart of Life is Strange the characters. I don't think they should move from Arcadia Bay and should stick with characters in the town.

The characters really weren't that deep or well developed, what tied together the first game (not before the storm tho) was the art direction, despite it obviously being on a budget it had a very nice color palette and nice atmosphere, also the time travel gimmick and the reactivity to the world (before the last episode that is) and the sense of Mystery (again, before the last episode). The best they could do is just build a new cast altogether, maybe ditch the episodic format so they don't end up having to hastily rewrite the last episode and can deliver on a good mystery. Would be interesting to also see a different perspective, maybe adults or an urban setting.

Chloe is a whiny, judgemental little bitch and perhaps one of the worst characters I've seen in a game.

"Waaah, the girl I met two days ago wants to meet her biological mommy and I'll do anything in the world to make sure she's reunited with that special person missing in her life"

"Waaah, my mom is missing her husband and David seems to really make her happy. Fuck you mooom."

And she's meant to be relatable why?

Mind you, having lost my own father, I understand grief just doesn't go away. It can ruin you or make you angry whether you like it or not.

Oh I understand that an event of this sort wouldn't be easy on someone, especially so young, but she's incredibly antagonistic to the point of absurdity even when David's trying to be nice (and from time to time, the writers just make David act like an asshole out of nowhere in order to try justify her angst) but that's just one of my qualms with her, she's a thief (even if you don't steal the 200, she tried to steal a band shirt and then called the guy selling it an asshole for not letting her) she doesn't care about people's privacy but will go on tantrums when others doubt her honesty and want to search her own belongings, oh yeah, and she defaces both public and personal property without even a hint of remorse. Not to mention she's apparently schizophrenic what with seeing and talking to her dead dad all the time.

In the first game she was annoying but tolerable because hey, at least she isn't the main character and you can call her out on her bullshit.... Then comes Before the Storm.

Mind you, I wonder if they made David a little too nice.

He was a creepy paranoid weasel in the first game. So him saying things like, "your vacation from a father figure" fit him better than the nicer one in BTS.

Mind you, I always had Chloe TRY to be nice to David.
