Megamod 2.3 technical issues and suggestions

The villager companion said to me "You're wounded, Chosen One" during combat, I assume he wanted to heal me. Right after this line the game crashed, because we were in a combat and he couldn't use his skill..


Is this a common/known bug? because then I can just tell him to go away or something..

Klint will not try to heal you during combat. The script checks. However, I do not know what will happen if he is coming to you to heal you and you then enter combat. I doubt it would lead to a crash. I believe this was just random.
 
Just a little stuff I've already talked about... except I've taken a screenshot this time. It concerns the special encounter with two dead supermutants. There's a bug as regards the day/night cycle. Even if I use the Pip Boy (to reach noon for example), it's still the night. You can see the time on the screenshot (the best should be to block the time utilisation during this encounter) =>




P.S : I realize that choosing noon wasn't the best example... (well it was when I chose it through my 24 hours european point of view :mrgreen:)
 
i'm not too sure if this is a bug or not. and please don't ask where i picked it up from, because i have no idea. i went to reno to drop off some inventory and saw this there.

if i remember correctly, it is found in modoc, at balthas shop. and maybe somewhere like EPA. i remember noticing it, but i also don't have a clue about its function. and there's something that i'm not sure about, but i remember something like i got two of those "reserved items" once in my inventory. i am pretty sure one is in balthas shop, but there may not be a second one. if it is a bug, maybe it will help MIB88 to know where it is located.
 
A problem ... concerning the BOS bunker. I just can't enter in it. This is the error message I get =>




So, is there something I can do to fix this, 'cause I got to say that I mainly play with the Megamod for the addition of this bunker...

What happens : I open the door of the elevator, enter in it... and it crashes.
 
There is a missing dialog file somewhere. I don't know if the text file is missing because I forgot to include it in the mod, it was erased, or if it was never even written. I don't know yet, but I'll look into it soon.
But, it would be easy to fix if you have the mapper program. If you can open the map in the mapper, you can find what is the name of the script attached to the elevator. Then, all you would need to do is copy another of the files from data/text/english/dialog and rename it to the name of the script attached to the elevator. For example, if the name of the script on the elevator is boselv.int, then you would copy another dialog file and rename it boselv.msg. The dialog for an elevator is pretty simple, so you could edit the text inside your new file with Notepad to make it seem like an elevator (Level 1, Level 2, Exit, et cetera).
The problem with doing this is that there is no way to know what number dialog line should be called. If you open a dialog file, you will know what I'm talking about, and would just have to experiment to get it right until I can eventually fix it).

I have no idea what the problem is with that item, or what it is supposed to be. The use of the Buffout picture is the standard picture sometimes for items that are not to be used.

That's funny. I don't have time now either. If you wait for the next release of the Megamod, as I've said in either this thread or the other, you'll be waiting for quite a while... possibly as late as next February. It'll be a bit longer (at least another week now) before I even get access to my own computer again. As for time to mod, well, that's kinda difficult with 12-16 hour days.

:rofl: Yeah... well, I understand that you have a life to live. I'm not in the hurry & I'm not a specialist as regards the mapper, so I prefer not having to manipulate files. But if I have some time I will try your solution. Btw, keep up the good work!
 
I've had a few problems with 2.33, mostly in vault 23... anyway:

1: When talking to your aunt after completing the Temple of trials; she says to you: "So you've returned. Did you find the holy 13?" and your only possible reply is: "Then get yourself out of here and find it! People are depending on you!".... Seems like that's what she should say after you say "no" or something.

2: The quest with the guy in the Vault city fence jail has a lot of "error" things in it. Like when looking at the prisoner, or when talking to Steve the only dialogue option that isn't "error" is the one asking Steve if he loves money.
Also when you free the "error" prisoner and talk to him at his brother's tent, he says "I don't even know how to express my thanks", and his green text "thank you" at the same time. There's also some problems with the guards telling you not to touch the fence before they move away, and if you do certain things the gate will remain open permanently.

3: "Old Joe the local idiot savant"(Aka: Ian) in Vault city suffers from the same glitch as the wild man in the primitive tribe. He appears "dead" when you look at him.

4: Also some other small stuff like getting a "Monks" status log in my pip boy, even though I never did anything with any monks". There was also one time a encounter full of roaches was mislabeled as a caravan encounter, and of course the roaches were using the wasp model for some reason; but that's a known problem.

5, Vault 23:
Let's see ...
5.1:Car disappears when going to the map
5.2:Some combat glitches.(I killed the last rat on level 2, but my party members thought it was still alive and shot at nothing. Then when I finally was able to end combat, my party members did their attacking animations for a second while the chosen one did the dodging animation.)
5.3: When reloading a save from inside the vault it would always say I found vault 13, supposedly give me 2000EXP and I'd hear the level up sound.
5.4: The holo-disk/voice encrypted door you find on one of the bodies is seriously screwed up. When you activate it , it brings up a dialogue box, asking you for a password... none of the options are correct, and it's impossible to exit the dialogue box/inventory merged screens, so you have to quit the game.
5.5: Every time you leave the humongous rat's lair and go back to level 3 you get that vault 13 message, and you actually get 2000EXP points.
5.6: After killing the rat, even things that used to work will be replaced by "error", which includes the guy that gives you the key to the vault, and the level 1 computer.

6: This might happen in the vanilla game too, but I'm not sure. After killing Westin, if you negotiate a higher price for accepting the Carson mission, or even ask about Carson, the dialogue box will just freeze on the screen at the end of the conversation. Then, even if you manage to blindly select one of your Party members and talk to them, and fix your screen... Bishop will act like you had rejected to do the job, and asks again(causing the dialog box freeze again). It only works correctly if you accept the job right away, ask no questions, and end it with "I understand".

Lot of bugs with the latest additions. That's what happens when I quickly integrate stuff and release it before it's been really playtested. I just wanted to get something out before I went away. Anyway, thank you for reporting all of these. I will eventually get to these when I get access to my computer and if/when work actually levels out. If you find any others, please let me know, and I'll add them to my list of things to fix when I am able to mod again.
 
there is a problem in new reno where lil jesus becomes part of the bar in combat mode. i was able to kill all other mordino members.

EDIT:

i reloaded my game to see if anything would change. it kinda did, i was able to kill the bar.

EDIT 2:

it seems that the bar is just invisible. if you try walk into there area where the bar was, you can't. you can move behind it, but it's looks like you are moving around the bar as if it was still there.

i have a save if you need to look at it.
 
Read the thread about the Lil' Jesus Mordino/Golden Eagle mod. You'll understand these problems. I included this modified map by accident.

but now i have another problem. i keep getting an error when trying to load a save from within vault 23. i have the save if it will help.

I don't know if it might be the same type of corruption that happened with Scraptown originally. If so, I'll fix it for the next release. Check also your data/proto/critters folder to ensure that you do not have any corrupted .pro files. You will know they are corrupted because they are not 416 or 417 bytes in size. If certain ones get corrupted, like those which are for party NPCs (like 00000062.pro for Vic), a game may not load.

Edit: Also, a game failing to load may be the result of certain .pro files being missing. If the missing .pro files are for party members like the new Lenny or Meris, then a game will fail to load. (Again, sorry, I don't remember the numbers for these, but you can see them in the pro_crit.msg file in data/text/english/game.)
 
all of the .pro files are 1kb in size and the critters.lst is 9kb.

i'm quite sure i have saved in this location before without any issues.

i had just leveled up, but can't remember if anyone in my party leveled up as well. but if so... i do have sulik, miria and klint in my party. so it could be a klint and\or miria thing.

Look closer at them. Your view is rounding it up to 1kb.

Just because you have used that slot before doesn't matter. Games can still get corrupted.

It's possible the problem is with Klint or Miria. However, have you been able to enter, leave, and save in this area before? Or does this happen every time in every slot when you try to save in Vault 23?

sorry, i should have been more specific. by location, i didn't mean the save slot but the actual location as in the image. and i saved there for the simple reason, the last time i went there i had my ass handed to me in a hat... my hat.

i have enter and left V23 many times, this was the first time i had any problems there... well other than what i PMed to you about a weekish ago. both klint and miria have always been in my party.

oh.. the pro_crit.msg file looks chinese to me. i have no idea what i am looking for.
