Megamod 2.3 technical issues and suggestions

That's...special. I've doublechecked, and both the file I DLed and my game says 2.3.2. (well, the game only says 2.3. - but anyway)

Maybe I should get ready to change my name to Ian junior....I really am missing a horrid amount of shots.
Makes for fun situations, though.

The disappearing corpses did so when I left combat status, and the screen blacked for half a second.

About the antivirus....after I've started the game, I can turn on the protection and still play the game. What a nuisance.

Btw...I remembered something just now. Am I supposed to be able to go down into the sewers under Klamath, get the quest item down there, return to Arroyo, do what needs to be done, and then finish the "Save the harvest"-quest ?

I changed that crazy trader. The latest map date was January 9th, so I might have changed it just after I released 2.32. So, you'll definitely have the right map in the next release. Killing him won't impact your game, though.

And it looks as though I need to correct that Enclave encounter. That fade out/in is supposed to be triggered when the guards go out in search of the computer hacker if you trick them. If you kill them, this shouldn't occur. Thanks for pointing that out.

And yes, that is the end of that quest, by returning that item to Arroyo.
 
No-no...that's not what I meant. Sorry.
I SHOULD have added, are you meant to be able to do the quest in that order, and not have to get the information at all from the gardener ?
I did it that way, and it's not a problem per se, but it is speedier. You don't have to do that little extra quest in order to get to know how to find the poision.
 
Oh, of course not. You don't have to help the farmer. Just one more link in the story. It still makes sense getting into the tunnels and finding something that proves useful whether you help him or not.

Oh and when you kill mickey (cold hearts quest) the description of his death (in red) is superimposed with your own text box (in yellow) which results in incoherent mish-mash of words.
 
It is a function of where you are standing in relation to the well. The texts will be centered on the two 'characters' (in this case, the player and the well). Maybe I can change the timing of the floats. Thanks for the report... I'll see what I can do.
 
Not sure if this has been posted but for that quest from the Abbey where I'm supposed to copy information from the Vault City main computer, the game crashes when I try to move the Abbey holodisk into an active slot (wield it)
 
Does this crash occur before or after you have gotten the information from the computer?
 
i just downloaded the newest version last night, and once again i can't adjust klints combat status. this is a new install.

and before you say anything about rar and read only, i don't use winrar (as both rar and zip formats blow goats), i use 7z. and even after extracting the mod, i still go to the folders i need to, and make sure that everything is read only.

i have done it this way since i started modding my game and only had a few problems about 8 yrs ago when i did use rar. hence, your worries about winrar and read only.

hopefully the images will help to figure this out.
 
Thanks. That does help now. I actually had a different image in my head of the problem. Well, that is interesting. I don't know if I've ever noticed this. I just ran some tests. I can't change his settings when I first get him either. Once he has put on armor, these settings can be changed. Even if you revert back to his 'tribal' appearance, once he has worn armor, everything can be set on him. You have to tell him to equip the armor, then exit and re-enter dialog in order to change settings.

I don't know the cause of this for certain. However, I am guessing that he is still set on the initial AI package when he joins your party. He may not become the real 'party member' Klint until he has leveled up or you put armor on him.

Please let me know if you have problems with him after you have put armor on him. I will give this some thought to see how this can be corrected.
 
i traveled to klamath, bought and gave him armor, told him to wear it, exited and re-entered his diag screen, checked to see if his combat readiness can be changed (it can), saved game, exited game, reloaded game, game loads but i get a black screen and sound only.

then i reloaded an older save:

i am going to go back to arroyo before i give him the armor and see if it happens again.

I am not able to reproduce this black screen. Tell me, are you trying to set Klint's behavior a certain way?
 
i just re-installed the whole thing again. just to be safe.

i didn't change anything the first time as i was just testing what you said, but the second time, i set klint to:
attack who ever is attacking me
stay close to me

the rest would be the default settings.

and i'm on my way to klamath with klint to check out the black screen thing again.
 
there must have been a glitch somewhere. loaded him up with armor and no black screen.

i also noticed that before i gave him armor and made him wear it, there is an area in klamath (south of vic's), where i go into combat mode for no reason. it is within the red area in the image i posted below. starting at the street lamp, it follows the edge of the two buildings, ends roughly where i made my line and down to just below the outhouse, then back west again.

if you move one step west, one step north, one step east or one step south of the area i marked, you can exit out of combat mode. but anywhere in that area causes the combat mode to popup.

as soon as i gave him the armor and told him to wear it, i was able to pass through the area with no problems.

The master trader is part of another mod to be finished adding later, and I moved him off to the side, not realizing he had a psychotic script attached to him. Anyway, I think you are using the 2.31 version. I fixed this in 2.32, which was released a couple of weeks ago.

i thought i was safe as i do have the latest version of the mod.

but i completely missed the "so I might have changed it just after I released 2.32." part of your last quote. i need to pay more attention to what people are saying. my bad.
 
No sweat. At least Klint isn't giving you any more problems now. Enjoy him while you can. I think I'll begin the process of making him less of a 'tank' in the next release.
 
i'm looking forward to it.

i have one question though, how hard would it be to implement the 'black car' from the Paint Job 1.0 mod by Splitsoul and MatuX? i've been using it since it was made and has always become part of my game.
 
I don't know this mod. But, anything that only replaces graphics will work with this mod with no problems. There should only be two .frm files to replace - one scenery (car) and the other may be scenery or an item (the trunk).
