Hey, when is Megamod going to be compatible with Killap's Restoration Mod?
wonder if anyone could help me with a little problem I'm having. I'm experiencing random crashes during combat. No idea why.
I'm using megamod 2.42 with hi-res patch and I removed the weather. Windows 7 x64 if it helps anything.
Someday. That is the plan - to make as much of the RP as possible compatible with the MM.
Hmmm. Does it crash as in, you get a black screen? Or does it freeze? And, does this happen on your turn, a party NPC, or an enemy's turn (or is it truly random?)
May be a problem with something in your hs_ondeath.int script.
i have fall out 2 megamod 2.42 the newest version. when ever i try to load my most recent save file the game crashes and i get a message "The instruction at ********* referenced memory at ******* The memory could not be read from."
The stars are numbers and the numbers are not always the same each time i happens. i can load from an earlier save but id rather solve the problem becuase i just started and i dont want to lose 1+ hour of progress each time it happens
Oh and i have windows xp 64 bit if that helps and im not running in compatability mode
So i keep on playing saving a bunch of times becuase i dont know when a save will go bad, and the game crashes when i try to leave arroyo. Which off course is a huge problem i like what i see about the mod but if i cant play it i cant enjoy it. please help
Hmmm. The game fails to load certain games and you can't leave Arroyo. That sounds like a problem with either the worldmap.txt or city.txt file. Games failing to load are usually the result of missing or corrupted proto files....
Try to reinstall everything from the MM again. There is no need to start over after having done so. Just recopy all the files, and make sure that the files in your data/proto/critters folder and data/proto/items folder are set to read only.
Thank you for the quick response. Ok i did what you said, i put the megamod in the fallout 2 folder overwriting all files, and i did the same thing with patch 2.4 2.41 2.42 in that order. I then went to proto folder and set items and critters to read only, selecting make all files and sub folders read only.
After doing all this i load my latest save, which was already working before i did the reinstall. Then when i tried leaving arroyo the same thing happened resulting in a crash.
I think i did all the steps correctly, and let me know if i didn't, but still i'm stuck
I'm sure you did those couple of steps right. Couple of questions then. Are you playing this with the high resolution mod, as well? Or just the regular megamod? And, what is the date/time of the arbridge.map file found in your data/maps folder?
It simply crashes to desktop, and yes, it does seem as it happens when an enemy is killed.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Edit: after removing hs_ondeath.int the crashes seem to be gone.
Oh, and something new: When I enter the Slaver Camp, the map is completely black, no scenery, only the car trunk (even if I came on foot) and the party are visible.

Ok after messing around i figured out the problem. What i did was, earlier this year, I installed fallout 2 and shatter destiny mod. When i was done i uninstall fallout 2, but didn't clean out the folder so part of the mod was still there.
Flash forward i installed the game again as well as the megamod. I was able to play but shattered destiny was causing problems. I know that i can enter the world map, and i will find out soon enough if the save problem is fixed.

i tried getting the newest version of sfall and i followed the instructions included, copied every file but ddraw.ini. the game didnt work so i put old ddraw.dll back in. I was able to get the game to work again, but i noticed the title screen said version 2.41 megamod. I went ahead and reapplied 2.42 and it still says 2.41
My final question is that some times when im in town there is some sort of yellow snow, is this a graphic problem of some sort of feature
ok i reinstalled to be sure, and it says 2.41 with out me messing with anything, can some one confirm that there version 2.42 says 2.41?
i still have the yellow snow/sandstorm it seems to happen randomly i leave town and walk around it will come and go. if it is a feature its hard to see while its going on

I am playing with 2.4.2 and the High Res Patch as well as Nirran's skill book mod, and lastly FWR.
1. The guy in the cage at VC that says "pssst", I can't talk to him
2. Similarly, the guard behind the laser fence at NCR that you need to talk to to get into Westin's ranch doesn't talk
3. When returning to Arroyo with the G.E.C.K, I lose my car
Hi another bug.
Slaver camp - I have speech on 120% and Don or Dan whatever, gives me the key to Sulik's Sister. No metter what I do all the time I see window with text that guards are nearby etc.and I can't open it. I don't try killing them 'cause I'm weak at the moment.
Secundo - if I'm going to second Cage with two guards, I can unlock but I can't open 'cause this start a fight. When I'm waiting and example: Sulik go inside this cage no problem.
I tried all this a 5-6 times with different save and always I have the same effect.
I have some problems with 2.41 and 2.42 patches.
First, i have clean Fallout 2 install (US version), Megamod 2.35 and also 2.4 patch. No other patches/mods. In this moment, i can normally starts new game.
When i have 2.41 patch added to previous instalation, i can't start new game anymore. After introduce videoscenes (intro & TeamX logo), game crashes. Same thing happen with 2.42 patch installed.
I have tried 8-bit fullscreen mode instead of default Dx9 fullscreen and game starts fine even with 2.41 + 2.42 patches, but without weather mod activated. This line appear in the messagebox: "Weather mod error: shaders functions not available".
How can i disable the weather mod? Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
delete gltrain.int in data\scripts\ folder
Removing the hs_ondeath.int script is what I was going to suggest. That script has been changed a number of times since 2.42 was released to increase stability, so I don't think you will have any problems with that script with the next version of the MM.
Not sure what the deal is with the Slaver Camp. At first I thought it was a problem with missing proto files. However, as you can see from one of the other posts, one person was able to get there. I'll look into this. I wonder if the high resolution property is causing an issue (or, conversely, allowing the map to open properly)...?
Minor oversight on my part: I did not update the message string in ddraw.ini to show that you had version 2.42.
Weather is random, whether it is light rain, heavy rain, snow, or a sandstorm. And it is supposed to be hard to see in a sandstorm. In case you haven't noticed, your character's perception will suffer, too in very bad weather.
Regarding numbers 1 and 2, are you close enough to talk to them?
Regarding 3, I think that has also been fixed for the next version already.
I haven't played through this portion yet. However, there should be no significant changes between those scripts in the MM and those scripts in the Restoration Project. My recommendation is to look through the RP thread for a similar problem or maybe check one of the walkthroughs for the RP. If this is not a problem in the RP, and a guide does not give you the solution, then maybe something was mixed up when those files were added to the MM.
The weather mod only works in certain modes. In order to turn it off, just remove the weather.ini file and gltsrain.int in your data/scripts folder. As for why one mode works and another one does not: sorry, I have no suggestions.

Yes, I am close enough.
When I am too far, I get a message "there is no way to get there", but when I am one tile away, I get no message at all.
It doesn't seem the game is even trying to load the map, the transition from the world map to "blackness" when trying to enter is lightning fast, as it usually takes half a second to load any other map this is quite noticeable.
Do you think replacing the map with an older version or the version from RP (I don't even know if they're compatible) would have any chance of correcting whatever is wrong?
Oh, and maybe you know about this:
The commander of Bunker 21 seems to be part of the Arroyo team. When I attacked him he had a "tribal" float and trying to leave the map after killing him triggers the Hakunin endgame movie like it would happen after attacking someone in Arroyo.

I manualy installed the game, and it worked just fine, but i have no clue where to install the file. Where should it go?
I just tried this and had no issues with it. When you are standing by the fence and talk to him, he is supposed to enter dialog with you and offer a quest if you accept it. Dialog and the quest worked fine with only one minor glitch.
The black screen could still be the result of missing protos, some new item/scenery that is not properly recognized by the MM, or a problem with the city.txt file. I'll have to look into this.
Using the map from the RP wouldn't help. Even if the map loaded, none of the scripts would be right.
And I'll fix the issue with the Bunker 21 commander. Thanks for the report.
Open the MM archive. Just unzip/unarchive the entire contents into your Fallout 2 folder. And read the latest readme files (at least megamod 2.34 and 2.4).
Bleh. Not working at all for me. Not in VC or NCR.
Any idea what might cause it? Also, any idea how to fix it or work around it and force the dialogue?
