Thanks. This problem occurs sometimes with other NPCs too. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to fix it, though.

I just started a new game to try a few different paths and noticed that for some reason, this time I was able to find Jim Horton's son. In my last game, I was unable to finish this quest despite finding the exact same place.

It seems like you have to look at the character before a certain event takes place otherwise your player character will not react... weird...

Yes, it was never a bug. You just needed to get the description for the right corpse.

No, I mean you couldn't ID the guy in my old game.

I think that's why players complained that they found Mike Horton but couldn't report it.

This time, I checked the corpses in the ruined city BEFORE talking to Stone Fist and fighting his deathclaw and got the "this body looks familiar" message, something I didn't get the last time.

In my old game, I didn't bother with the bodies at first and immediately spoke with Stone Fist. I charged ahead, beat his deathclaw, let Stone Fist get away and then went on to check the bodies. You could use any number of skills/actions on the body and you'd never get the message and could not relay it to Jim. Somehow some event(s) makes it impossible to ID the body.

From reading this thread, it seems I'm not alone. So unless you're saying that the body can somehow be randomly located somewhere other than the Ruined City encounter, then I think we may have a bug.

I'll try some tests and see what went wrong...

I haven't changed anything with this encounter since it was first implemented in the very first Megamod. However, please let me know what you find out. The way I always played was to talk to the tribal, deal with the threat, deal with the tribal in a gruesome way, and then go search the bodies (getting the "familiar" message first and then the confirmation upon looking at him a second time). I never had a problem with getting the required description doing this.

I'm not sure what went wrong...

I can't replicate the bug, but in my old save game, you never get a description from the body and Jim keeps asking about his son.

The problem is I don't recall if I got the encounter before or after talking with Jim.

Could it be that you have to talk to Jim before doing the Ruined City?

A global variable is set after talking to Jim the first time. If this variable is not set, you won't get the Ruined City encounter. However, random weirdness does occur in the game sometimes and things don't always happen as they should.

I tested out a few things and can't reproduce the error.

I guess it's one of those random weird bugs that appear for obscure reasons and the alignement of unknown variables.

Strange but true, doing it with Angela Bishop while playing a female character uses up a condom which might mean that a female could impregnate Angela...

Hello

I have run into a quite annoying problem, I can't manage to blow a hole in the door in the temple of trials. I just installed the mod after carefully following in the instructions in the readme file.

I have tried to reinstall the whole ting and try again, but I am still unable to blow a hole in the door.

Am I being a moron or is this a bug of some kind.

The New Vision mod changes the Temple of Trial. I don't recall there being any explosives, you need to use another method.

You can find what you need on the same part of the temple as the door and using certain skills can give you clues as to what you're missing.

Hello guys please forgive but I'm having a little trouble. I have download all mega mod 2 and the 2 updates located on this site and I have tried to install them but it doesn't work properly. I can start a game but when I try to save it, it gives me an error message and when i enter the temple I see the bar at the bottom (the inventory and all that) but the upper screen is just black with my character just there. I have searched around for clearer procedures and tried at least 8 times making sure to follow the steps correctly. but now I'm at wits end and I'm in desperate need of assistance. I hope some one can clear this up for me because of I really want to experience Fallout 2 differently.

oh my gosh I did not realize i had to re-check the read only if I used Winrar. Wow it works now thank you very much for the link. Sadly now I feel stupider for not checking The Vault for any information. But again you have my thanks!

Hi. I love the mod, despite some rough edges. I now cannot imagine playing without Klint! I've run into several very familiar problems: (Klint + Adv. Power Armor crash, Grisham children crash, bolt in Temple of Trials) that vexed me to no end until I found out they were known issues through hours of reading in the forum.

Could I just kindly suggest that, since this thread is now 90+ pages, that a "Known Bugs List" be made, stickied, and required reading for anyone downloading this mod?

I'm anxiously awaiting the next release! Can't wait to have Miria in power armor! :D

First, since this is my first post, a quick introduction:

I've been a big fan of this particular game series for a long time. Wasteland caused me to fail high school algebra. Fallout contributed to the demise of my first marriage. I almost needed an intervention in order to complete my EE degree when Fallout 2 came along. My current wife is dreading the appearance of Fallout 3.

Next, a comment for MIB: It's hard work being an aggregator. Lots of different coding styles, lots of other people's mistakes to clean up, and just generally difficult to integrate a variety of code and work out all the bugs. The work you have done is both impressive in scope and admirable in execution. It's provided me with dozens of hours of entertainment so far, and I eagerly await your next release.

Finally, the problem which has lead to my posting: I am in Broken Hills, attempting to resolve an assignment by EB. When I go to visit Typhoon and provide him with some entertainment, he no longer speaks to me, and I cannot give him certain items, nor use them on him. Furthermore, he and his wife both show up as "Spouse" when I look at them. Is this an error, or the result of a re-writen task? Should I still be able to ply him with vices? I have spent the bulk of the last two days reading all 90+ pages of this thread, and don't recall seeing anything about it. However, I may have missed it.

Thanks!

Edited to clarify:
In Broken Hills, I am unable to give or use anything on Typhoon the mutant (he has certain vices). His dialog is correct, but if I look at him or target him in combat, he is named "Spouse", as is his wife. As such, I am unable to get any info from him in regard to a certain fortune, and I am unable to complete an associated quest assigned at Cold Hearts. I'm thinking this is a bug.

Thanks for the comments and report. This is very odd. First off, I don't remember Typhon having a wife character around him, just a couple of other ghouls. Um, Typhon wasn't changed at all with regards to EB's quests, so there is no reason for it to act like this. Random crazy things do occur from time to time. Can you try this with a character who has not entered Broken Hills yet? And see if the same error repeats, please?

Typhoon is in the old folks home, but he and the ghoul in the adjoining room are both listed as "Spouse". I get the standard dialog from him, but don't appear to be able to give him anything or use anything on him.

There is another "Spouse" pair in the Western part of town, where you find the Cats Paw, but I believe they are unchanged from the original game.

Sounds like I have a random error. Good to know that I am not just missing something. Both my saved games have already entered Broken Hills, and both show the same situation. I'm going to chalk it up to random error and reinstall the game & mod.

While I have your attention, I do have a few questions regarding the Stealthboy. Namely, does it have any effect other then turning your character translucent on the screen? Does it modify your odds of successfully sneaking by someone, or make it more difficult for them to hit you? I haven't noticed any effect on my character other then the translucence, but then again, I'm quick with the pistols and not a very sneaky guy.

I honestly don't know. There are no special stats assigned to the proto file. If it does anything, it may be handled by the engine. This item wasn't really created as part of any mod in the Megamod, it was already in the game files, and the Abbey mod just placed the item on a map.
