Most Hated Fallout Character

I don'T think Jo is the only character pretending that he will help you in your quest if you do his errands. But this is one of the examples of a characters who isn't depicted as bad.

Piper and McCready. Two negligent morons that go parading across the wasteland at the player's behest despite having young children to care for (Piper's pre-teen sister and McCready's sick, literally dying baby). Piper pretty much just abandons Nat the moment the player asks her to, and McCready decides to stick around in the Commonwealth and let some friend deliver the antidote to his sick infant.

Horrible, irredeemable characters written by people overly focused on everything revolving around the player.

I agree , definitely with mccready , he should be with his son , not some 200 year old stranger.

I don't really think there's a character that I truly hated in any of the games I've played (pretty much everything but FO4 and POS) but man did Tandi piss me off in FO2. She knows what it's like out in the wasteland, especially after being held captive by Raiders but she still acts like an elitist prick.

Linette is an absolute dbag but at least there's a reason for her being that way, she's never had any experience with the outside world and only knows what she was taught growing up. Tandi, though? She does know better, it's like she completely forgot her roots and let the power go to her head.

That and an absolutely baffling dialogue omission, though this is more directed toward the writers than Tandi as a character. When she's rolling her eyes at you after you mention the intelligent Deathclaws why in the hell can you not just have Goris introduce himself if you have him as a party member? Even if it would lead to her calling the guards and turning the whole settlement hostile, it should be an option.

Exactly the Institute is more or less like Big Empty in New Vegas. they're scientists who operates outside morality restrains. (since the laws and other institutions (Nation State) that support such morality restrains were no longer exists) they could be either good or evil (And in the end if player sided with them, player's karma will decide their morality... especially in NV Old World Blues (which later revealed that regardless of what will happen to Hoover Dam and New Vegas, Courier will spend the rest of his / her life ruling the Big Empty and his/her karma values will decide what will BMT do. continue evenmore terrifying experiments upon wastelanders or do the same thing Robert House 'promised player to do should he win the while game'.

Ah, the one thing I liked about the Big Empty was how the scientists were all fundamentally flawed to the point where they can easily be manipulated into their basic vices (like the one scientist who would get aroused by you simply breathing), meaning that just because they're all brains in jars doesn't mean they don't behave the same way as the wastelanders.

If I'm going to be honest, I'm going to go with the Van Graffs. Fucking bitches. I always blow them up, and yes, I KNOW this means I can't mod plasma weapons or get them, but you know what? At that point in the game, that shit is expensive, and I can get that crap for free if I blow them up to kingdom come. Besides, sticking with them means killing Rose of Sharon Cassidy, and I actually like her perks.

For Fallout 4, besides the obvious Nuka World nonsense, I'm gonna go with the Cabot clan. Jezum Crow...

FO2:
The mob bosses in New Reno. The plot intricacies were interesting, but while people practicing martial arts in PA San Francisco is mildly believable, having the mob bosses recreate the roarin' 1920's after the bombs drop is a bit too much. They talk in gangster movie accents. If they had been a little more authentic to the setting, I probably would have dug pitting them against each other setup. It's kind of like that one Star Trek episode: "A Piece of the Action."

Myron.

Frank Horrigan. What his motivation? He's a former marine / secret service agent. But he's no longer human, he's a mutant of some sort. Which is what his government hates. Does he just need to get his violence fix / pain meds? But why can't he go off and do that on his own. Why can't you convince him to join you (even when he is obviously losing - rogue Enclave squad, turrets hacked, FEV released)? It just seems that he should be more conflicted than they wrote him to be (at least somewhere in his mind or in his past).

I think he's just too patriotic and one track minded to think for himself really. I also think they hint he wasn't bright before being mutated either and once he was, instead of killing him they realize how much of an asset he can be since he was so malleable. So they just tell him how much he does for his country and how wonderful he does so he feels praised and worth something. F

Character portrayal is more being angry how a character was made or shown, and less of hating the character itself.
Roy Phillips, Fallout 4 BoS (Portrayal), Fallout 4 Dr. Li (Portrayal), Fallout 4 Cait, Wernher and the lady he works with, Ulysses because he wont shut up with his stupid fuckin bullshit, Father, Not Oliver Swanick because he's the guy you love to hate, and Father. Both character and Portrayal.

I'll provide a top pick from the games I finished.

F1: Ian. Not a lot of bad characters come to mind from F1, honestly. Set is a dick and Jacoren is a real villain, but they're both well designed. Ian's penchant for shooting you in the back earns him the top spot.

F2: Melchior. I see Lynette getting a lot of flak, and while she's a real bitch I really appreciate the role she plays in VC's main questline. Big M, on the other hand, is just a really dumb gimmick that would have better been left out.

F3: Mayor Mccreedy. Fuck that little dick and fuck all of Little Lamplight. While F3 has a lot of bad characters to go around, it's not even close in my book.

FNV: Daniel. For all the reasons previously listed. Eat a buffet of dicks, Daniel.

I think Tandi is one of those people who is annoying because of their worldliness, which they won't hesitate to remind you of.

Going to go with Autumn from Fallout 3.
What was his motivation?
What did he believe in?

Essentially, he was just this one guy who was kind of a dick. He was very poorly written and didn't have any purpose at all.

Really, you could take him out the game and replace him with a generic Enclave Soldier and it changes nothing.

At least other characters like Cabot had some kind of goal. Autumn was just a generic nobody who had name importance for some bafflingly reason.

Sole Survivor, one of the worst Fallout protagonist to ever exist. I hate him so much I made this, long time ago: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62723

NotFallout 3: pretty much everyone, but the worst offenders: ALL OF LITTLE LAMPLIGHT (especially princess and mcready), Eden, Autumn, Angela Stanley (drugging your husband gives you karma, gg).

NotFallout 4: Hancock (ghoul from drugs, seriously???), but above everything else NICK BLOODY VALENTINE - the part where he was the only one to unlock the door was one of the last straws for this shit of a game.

MacCready is absolute scum. His son is apparently about to die, and yet he chose not to hop on the first caravan out of the Commonwealth for... what reason? There is no way to justify this. But hey, I found that Prevent stuff! The kid will be fine! If his son had died, would MacCready even know? Would he get the news from Daisy, who got it from a caravaneer? And why the hell was he not with his son in the first place!?!?! Did Bethesda just want to include an old character in their game?

But wait, MacCready's scumbaggery gets even worse. He tells you the story of how his wife died, and I imagine dying in that way is not pleasant the slightest bit, and when he's romanced he tells you things like "For the first time in my life I'm happy." and "Being with you has made me the happiest I've ever been before." WTF?

What huge middle fingers to not only his sick son, but his DEAD wife as well. Go to hell, MacGreedy.

Going to go with Autumn from Fallout 3.
What was his motivation?
What did he believe in?

Autumn believed in the Enclave and everything it stood for. He served as the human voice of the faction vs the robotic voice of President Eden. His motivation was to see the Enclave succeed in its goals, and he defied the President to make that happen.

I would guess that Sticky from Fallout 3 is the most hated character, like the Adoring Fan from Oblivion. Sticky I believe is the kid that you can walk from Lamplight to Big Town, and he tells randomly generated stories the whole way there.

Autumn believed in the Enclave and everything it stood for.

But what did they stand for?
I know what they stand for now after playing Fallout 2, but the Enclave are so confusing that they just come across as Wasteland dicks.

I get it, they believe everyone is shit. Why would they care about the water then? Do they want money from it? Who are they going to barter with? Do they just want to control everything? They have more advanced gear than the BoS, they could just ambush them once the piriferp is up and running.
Super mutant and Ghouls extermination? Well, the Super Mutants are generic orcs so the less of them, the better. And the Ghouls would probably most likely hide in Underworld, away from the Enclave leaving them to pretty much be out of the way (unless the Enclave decided to wipe them out in which case, they would have nothing to gain from it).

The Enclave's plan in F3 was confusing. It made little sense and instead just felt like Bethesda needed an antagonist.

Autumn must not have cared very much, he can be talked down in a couple of speech checks.

But what did they stand for?

I get it, they believe everyone is shit. Why would they care about the water then?

The Enclave's plan in F3 was confusing. It made little sense and instead just felt like Bethesda needed an antagonist.

They don't believe everyone is shit. Their goal was to re-establish a centralized government over the wasteland.

Autumn wanted Project Purity so that the people of the Wasteland would see the Enclave as saviors and protectors, and become their loyal citizens.

Eden secretly wanted to use Project Purity to kill off any mutations. When Autumn wouldn't go along with that plan, Eden tries to recruit the player to do it behind everyone's back.

Colonel Autumn's motives:

"When you see the Enclave, you see the United States government. We are authorized to restore order and civility, by any means necessary."

"You're in a heap of trouble, kid. You're a traitor to the United States government."

"The American people are worth fighting for. The future must be secured."

"Once this facility is operational, the masses will flock to the Enclave for fresh water, protection, and a plan for the future."

"Once you're dead, we'll finish off this pathetic Brotherhood and become the true saviors of the Wasteland."

President Eden's motives:

"The United States was great once, and it can be again. There are plans in motion to see that this happens within your lifetime."

"We cannot move forward until humanity can gain a solid foothold in the world. To do so, we must rid ourselves of the mutations that have plagued us for so long. These "Super Mutants", Ghouls, hideous creatures..."

"Please recognize that the fate of our entire country rests on this plan. Sacrifices must be made for the greater good."

"Once we have re-established ourselves, and brought civilization to the lands around us, then we can return to the old world policies."

Relations between Eden and Autumn:

"The good Colonel and I disagree on how best to approach the problem of the Wasteland. He feels my methods are too extreme. He has allowed his humanity to cloud his objectivity."

Why the Enclave and Brotherhood can't get along -

It boils down to two factions in Power Armor that don't like each other. The Enclave would probably want the Brotherhood of Steel to disarm and surrender themselves and all their tech, and the Brotherhood isn't going to do that.

Each faction also believes that the Wasteland would be better off if they were the ones controlling Project Purity, even though the the rightful owners are the scientists that built it.

Enclave's POV:

"The so-called "Brotherhood of Steel." Don't be fooled by their pseudo-knightly nonsense or supposed connections to the United States Army. These power-armored boy scouts are nothing more than common criminals with access to some antiquated technology. Criminals who have had the audacity to claim this country's most important military installation, the Pentagon, as their own personal clubhouse!"

"The Brotherhood of Steel, in their arrogance, has claimed Project Purity as their own! They would steal the Enclave's work, steal America's water! It is only a matter of time before the traitors march on the purifier, and attempt to take it by force."

Brotherhood of Steel's POV:

"[The Enclave is] the greatest threat the Capital Wasteland has ever faced. The Brotherhood of Steel has encountered the Enclave before, you see. Over thirty years ago, back in California. They seek to control and destroy, all in the guise of restoring order."

"I cannot -- I will not -- allow the Enclave to control the one thing that could bring even the slightest spark of hope to these people."

"I had my reservations about engaging the Enclave. Their assault on the purifier forced our hand. We had no choice but to engage them directly."
