Movie thread

I finally saw O Brother Where Art Thou? It was enjoyable.

I've never even heard of American Splendor, but I'm not really into comic books.

I saw dawn of the dead....

And i watched Schindlers List again today (just bought the dvd).

Both exelent movies...

Schindlers List though... very heavy movie...

Somehow, I ended up yesterday night in the house of a girl I know from school. While getting piss-drunk, we watched "Ilsa, wicked warden of the SS", a very boring porn movie (with hardly any porn at all, mostly pink fake blood) from the 70's. Was so boring that we decided to watch the call-girl porn ads on the german channels. Fun!

Then we watched Labyrinth.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels: Great movie, unfortunately I already saw Snatch, and this one was a lot like it. Meh. (Yeah, I know, same people, same director, but it was made earlier).

Battle Royale: Really nice....

Yeah it was on tv again. Good flick, way better than the Hollywoodizes cut-down we know as Snatch, way inferior to the classic British gangster movies, tho'.

Mars Attacks! was on a few days back. Read an article saying that "in the entire genre of Mars Invasion films, this is the best". It's true, y'know, it may be spoofing the genre, but it's the best of the lot.

Other than that...eh. Just Nemo'd again.

Argh, ever since I moved from the US, I haven't seen any movies, because there seems to be a four month delay in releasing things. Anyone know if Hellboy is any good? The previews looked kinda lame, but I heard it was a good series, and hey, it's Ron Perlman.

A lot of folks have been looking forward to Hellboy. Honestly I will probably wait for it for DVD or when it goes to the cheap theatre.

Mars Attacks is a rip. The only thing that I thought was disappointing was Jack Nicholson. As the President, he was fine, but as the real estate developer- kind of lame. The little martians stole the film.

Thanks for the reminder on Identity. Have yet to see it through, but I like what I saw.

American Beauty (Look Closer...). I bought it on DVD a week ago and have watched it three times since. I love this flick. It's got everything a good movie needs.

I also recently watched Mad Max, Mad Max 2 (The Roadwarrior) and Mad Max 3 (Beyond Thunderdome). I think I like the second one the best. The first one is just a decent revenge movie and the third one just plainly sucks.

Walking Tall - fun, nothing too heavy on the brain...just a lot of asskicking fun. And well acted, too.

Hellboy - Eh...standard, run of the mill comic book action movie. Ron Perlman definately raises it up a notch, though. His performance as Hellboy is awesome. The art direction is good too. Didn't notice too much of a plot until the last 30 minute of the movie, tho'.

Dawn of the Dead - Excellent.

Also, the new Schindler's List DVD is terrific, despite the lack of commentary tracks.

The 2-disc Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake) collectors edition DVD is quite simply awesome. There's a great documentary on Ed Gein (the inspiration for TCM, Psycho and "Buffallo Bill" from The Slience of the Lambs), 3 commentary tracks, numerous deleted scenes, a "making of" documentary, and a really sweet case that folds out into a chainsaw. Also - some mock "crime scene photos" with police reports on the back of them. It's also like $40 bucks, but well worth it.

I thought the remake was meant to be SHIT, so I didn't bother seeing it. I'll probably watch it if it's on tv, though I'd doubt it could be better than the original? How arts snob.

I'm pretty bored of remakes. Sometimes my idiot friends talk about them and I accidently think they could be intelligent until I realize they're talking about the remake. They then watch it and tell me the end and every good bit, so I don't need too see it. thanx lol

I've thought about getting Rope, Bully and a couple of other films. I might get them yet I still have tremors, the conversation and city of the living dead too watch.

Bully was okay.

Generally I dislike remakes. I'm a big fan of the original Walking Tall, Dawn of the Dead, and TCM, and I still enjoyed the remakes greatly. They did a good job on all counts.

The last on dvd was Secretary , a fabulous indie movie with James Spader. A real surprise, a must see, with the girl that should have taken the Oscar.

On the cinema it was The Passion of the Christ, another surprise, since i`m not the religious type, and i`m not a Mel Gibson fan either, but this one is a great Film, five stars.

I didn't really like Secretary. Haven't seen The Passion yet...I'll get around to it after Kill Bill and The Punisher

Identity - quite good, but yeah, the ending is a bit crappy

Lost in translation - hmm...

Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind - OMG, I was so bored, i almost fell asleep

Nice flash, gets kind of boring after the first 50 or so, but the music is really nice.
What do you guys think about "The Butterfly Effect"? IMO that was one of the few good movies that I've seen in my whole life.
And I saw Hannibal again, I just love that one!
Oh, and what about Cold Mountain? That was a waste of money!
