Nerding out on internet purchases

"The Survival Edition!!! tm" came with a Pipboy 3000 alarm clock replica that apparently is a piece of junk.
I was joking about how I pretty much haven't opened it in years... not because I refuse to play FO3 (that's besides the point) but because I took the game case out when I first got it, and took the bobblehead and placed it on my desk, and I left the rest untouched ever since. Yeah, I do that with my special edition games. I should either not open them at all so they remain in peak value at mint condition, or open them and enjoy them to their fullest, but for whatever reasons I like going half-and-half. XD

Though I DO thoroughly delight in my Dead Space 2 CE Plasma Cutter model (toy) with LED "lasers". That's geekishly neat! =D

I think an unopened survival edition of fo3 might be a goldmine. Just you wait, it'll keep increasing in price, I would think. Lots of fans of the game out there.

But he opened it already, so it won't increase in prize as much. I am not that much of a collector, I get them when they have cool shit and I like handling the stuff, read the artbooks, lick the toys, etc. Not much to keep it "mint condition".

It also doesn't really matter if it's plentiful. Things are valuable if they're BOTH hotly desired AND in short supply, not by how old they are nor how pristine. If a thing was valuable because it's an original with very few in existence that many people want, being unopened would make it MORE valuable, however being opened wouldn't make it worthless. But since these special copies of games are so common, they're not going to be worth anything special for an inconceivably long amount of time... if ever.

More importantly, I'm waiting for that gluten to arrive in the mail so I can make some authentic ramen! =D

I can't find the original Ghost in the Shell on Bluray.

Edit: Well, settling for DVD ain't so bad.

100% definitely absolutely never getting 2.0. Fucking George Lucas-ified.

Well, I finally got my Vital Wheat Gluten in the mail today, and I immediately went about make those ramen noodles!

As can be expected, this being my first time at this particular recipe, it was a pretty big failure. XD But I've got more gluten, lots of spare kansui, and tons of water, so it's just a matter of time, practice, and getting the proportions down properly before I get these noodles right! =D

You have to order things with Glutten? I tought it was the other way around, at least that's how it is around here... I suspect I may have glutten alergies because whenever I eat regular bread I feel sluggish and I get bloated. Same with white rice and non "integral" pasta. But fuck it, I am gonna die of something shitty thanks to my genetic make up anyway, so life is too short to eat like a hipster (unless it involves weird sodas from the UK).

Like I said, there's a craze going on where people think gluten-free foods are especially healthy. Gluten was a common ingredient easy to find not 5 years ago, but this craze has been gaining steam, so suddenly it's a specialty item. It's a relatively new phenomenon. The same thing happened 10-15 years ago when the Atkins Diet gained significant popularity, so food items began offering "low carb" and "carb-free" variants (don't ask me what "carb-free" bread is... I really have no fucking clue). Before long it was HARD to find breads and pastas and tortillas that didn't include the words "low carb" on the packaging. Nowadays you can still find those, but they aren't the mainstay of products. Give it another 5-10 years, and the gluten-free craze will fade into obscurity as well. But for now, if I want gluten, it's a bit of a bitch to get some. ~_~

Ah, merci! Une video pour vous, monsieur.

For those of you who don't know, the BPRD is the organization Hellboy works for, so these are the stories of the sidecharacters as it has grown into it's own full fledged comic line.

I got a hold of a (well over-34-years-old but still functional) bread mixer and used it on my second attempt at ramen noodles. They came out PERFECTLY! =D

So last night after slaving over all of the ingredient for most of the day, I completed a full course authentic ramen noodle soup dinner! ^^

I am happy.

Self made food is always the best. Homemade bread is so yummy. And healthier!

No pictures on those noodles?

Anyways, my next purchase is the 'Hand of the King' Brooch, from Game of Thrones.

I am WAY behind on the times in terms of both cameras and phones... which nowadays are the same thing. I still have one of those tiny flip phones from back before the first iPhone came out and people thought cell phones were ONLY going to continue to get smaller and smaller and smaller. Suffice it to say, I've got no means of taking pictures of meals to be proud of. But getting a smart phone is one of the things on "my list" of stuff I gotta get around to getting/doing, so when I do, I'm definitely going to snap some pics of delicious things I cook up! =D

Just thinking of what new food to master I should try next...

Hey no sweat man. I only switched to a smartphone when given a second hand one passed through the family. I only really started to take a liking to the idea of one when I realized I could read books and comics on it. But other than that I see no problem with prioritizing pure communication over timewasting.

Here's a pic I took of some homemade pizza:

A tablet is much better for reading, browsing the internet, or anything really. I bought my Samsung Galaxy Ace android approximately two years ago and it barely saw any use aside from communication. I could have just bought an extremely cheap regular phone and a tablet and would have gotten the same package, except more comfortably. Okay, maybe I can't play games on the budget tablet I bought, but I don't want to play games like Angry Turds anyhow. Definitely a good lesson in "think before you spend money".

I don't have a smart phone yet, just a fairly basic phone with camera and net. It's about five-six years old already, it's barked it's price that's for sure. Got a new battery for it and it'll keep going for quite some time if I so choose.

I recently saw this device for a smart phone and it kind of made me want one. Not sure what useful things I could do with it though, probably just mess around with it.

Well for me, a smart phone is DEFINITELY going to be invaluable as a GPS, because one of my notorious shortcomings is being appalling with directions. I see the world as a series of landmarks, not "turn here then here", so when people give me directions, it gets lost in my head because I need to make sense of where I'm physically going. GPS would alleviate that problem significantly because it tells me exactly when and where to make what directional turn, and even if it sometimes tells me a touch too late at a specific street where knowing sooner would've been crucial, I can very easily make sense of maps (because of my association with landmarks and geographic layout) and see where I need to go on the GPS. Not having anything like that on my current, obsolete phone makes me reliant on a capable passenger (which there are few) or someone else's GPS, or me somehow overcoming my debilitating difficulty with directions, which..... well, that's just not gonna happen. >_<

As for that pizza, that's... interesting looking! XD Was the whole creation square shaped, or did it just have some lopsided areas of crust? The image makes it look like the crust came out very nice and fluffy yet crispy, however. Since I MOSTLY mix doughs by hand, my pizzas typically come out very thing crusted, but the more I practice, the more that's sure to change. =)

I might have a problem.

I bought these blurays:
The Matrix
L.A. Confidential
No Country for Old Men
Alien

And have ordered:
Gladiator
Star Trek 1-6 + captain's summit set
True Detective Season 1
Terminator 2
Minority Report
Kill Bill 1 & 2 Box

And Ghost in the Shell on DVD

I've been a Blu-Ray faithful ever since I saw Saving Private Ryan on blu-ray, with 5.1 sound. Makes your hairs stand up.
