New Fallout 2 animations (sniper, wakizashi, etc)

Should the player use one or two hands when thrusting with the sword?

A sword in Fallout. Finally. And the sniper animation? This is like Christmas. Can't wait for those to find a way into RP 1.3. :wink:

Also, this is directed toward Qwerty, since he's here talking about his anims. I downloaded those, installed them, but I'm unclear on how to use them.

Do I have to edit anything manually? Because I've just been using F2Wedit to make some changes to the weapons and things. I've switched some of the frms around and designed "new" weapons based on them. Like the hand flamer, which uses the hold anim from the smg.

How could I, for example, get fire to spew from the smg? F2Wedit only has options for the hold animation and the projectile used, which there isn't one for fire. I could change the damage type to fire, but I wouldn't think that does anything.

Another example, the minigun. I had edited it to fire a single shot before I realized that I would need a new animation for it, and then conveniently stumbled upon your work. Same problem, though. Will it just know to use the single fire anim if I include that as an attack in the weapon's proto file?

Sorry to bring this up here, but I saw an opportunity and this has been bugging me for a while.
 
When you make/edit the weapon pro file you have the choice of 1) what weapon it uses (eg smg) and 2) what attack type (single,burst,continuous)

So for the hand flamer tell it to use the smg with the continuous attack type.
 
Single shot for a minigun? Perhaps it would be better to do short\long burst? What do you think?
 
Single shot sounds a bit stupid for a minigun. Long and short burst is better, if it is possible.

Actually, now that I look at it, there isn't an option for continuous, but there is one for flame. Huh, if that's all it is I'm going to kick myself.
 
The APA Wakizashi are now done. Here's a few samples:

That marks the completion of this stage of this project. I recently realised doing the female animations would only mean doing Jacket, Leather, Metal and combat as the other armours work for both. I doubt i'll have them done for RP 1.3 but, time permitting, they'll get done.

Thanks for all the feedback and support, and it's still appreciated even though the Male versions are done, as i can use it for the the female versions.

Anyone is welcome to use these FRM's providing credit is given. I'll post the download link here and put 'em on the art archive also.
 
Great fucking job, J. :) Too bad that BGE won't have any profit at all from this expansion, because we're entirely ignoring that stupid hi-tech Enclave armor.
 
And FO 1.5 Resurrection, although looking for some new animations, as well, 'cause of mythology.

I guess Josan will be really mad about. :)

The sniper animations are done for all armours except APA (like Jesterka i just don't like it) and Robe (Robe sprite is the most difficult to edit IMO)
and no female sprites either. With a little luck they should appear in RP 1.3 and the next release of the Megamod.
 
yeah that si great to hear. Am i questin to cassidy, watz up with the armor mod? because the leather ajcket in rp 1.2 is not corect!

Yeah, i know. Fallout Ranger did the Leather Jacket FRM's, but then vanished into the wasteland with them. I figured most people will have a suit of leather or metal by VC so that reduces the need for the jacket (even though it would look cool)

Also, i think his unarmoured sprite looks kinda wierd. Does anyone agree? Also, anyone got a better idea for an unarmoured sprite for cassidy? or just use his standard Leather armour sprite?

The good thing about this animation is it's only used by the M60, Light support and Bozar, so this edited FRM can be a one-size-fits-all and there's no modding required. It'll just be a case of copying the file to your data>art>critters folder. Nice and simple.

I'm not sure about the ammo casings. They need a bit of work. Or i might take them out. The NW animation is unchanged 'cos you can't see the gun.

Hmm what's then with the laser rifle and plasma rifle?
 
Just out of interest what are the total list of new weapon animations that you are making and which ones are complete and ready for download?
