Meh, reminds me of the "real is brown" comic...

So... CVG wasn't supposed to use these.... yet had them... very very odd.

This will no doubt go on Pete's wall of shame for serious PR blunders. I suspect it will be right below NMA seeing the demo and just above banishing BN from the forums on this ever expanding list.

As for the way that gun is being held... well, looks like someone who has zero experience with guns designed it.

The exploding car makes me wince, it's just so.... shallow.

I fail to understand how in the Todd/Beth world INT impacting dialouges are not "Fallout" but exploding cars are.... W...T...F. :slap:

How would that be a blunder? From what I hear, the people of a...different opinion are being slowly weedled out of the official forums. Very effective. I'm just another body in the dirt.

In the F1 and F2 no one ever fires from the shoulder. They all fire from the hip. Maybe, in trying to keep Fallout fans happy, Beth has tried too hard?

Apparently EVERYONE told Beth's people "DONT screw it up." Its a lot of pressure after all.

I agree, taking away the iscometric view and turn based combat doesnt truley make it a Fallout sequel, but at least its keeping the Fallout torch alight. When it comes down to it, its this or nothing. I'm happy to have somthing rather than nothing. Remember when thousands of people signed the "Make Fallout 3" petition? I was one of them (I signed twice I think :S ??). Well we got our wish and all we greet the people who are making our dream come true - to the best of their ability - is hate. Where's teh love? <3

If if sucks of course, it can go in the "not proper fallout" bin with PoS. But MAYBE they will pull off somthing spectacular? No its not turn based but maybe it will still be really good as a game on its own. As was said, with its own merits.

Tycell, why are you repeating the arguments we've heard many times before?

I'll gladly repeat them, but you must've read this forum a few times over the past years and realise the arguments you're making have already been made

However those that signed that petition for the spirit of fallout, are being treated with impunity and instead Bethsoft is making what they believe their oblivious fanbase will like rather than the spirit of Fallout.

Give me Fallout, I will praise, but this is not fallout, it's a bloody imposter, masquerading as a beloved icon, while in reality debasing everything that was held dear about the series and tainting it with the horror of the X-Brick.

Console games oughtta damn well stay on a console, these blasted PC ports of console games can get stuffed because I'll be thrice damned and dead before I buy a console port on a PC.

I'll remind everyone the petition stated this:
We want to restore the Black Isle Studios and continue the Van Buren Project also known as Fallout 3. Don't do another poor game for PS2 or Xbox. Fallout was created for PC and we want a new part of this american, post-apocalypse history...

Restore Van Buren. Not "we want Fallout 3, it doesn't matter who makes it."

So let's not use any petitions, plz

thanks for clearing things up, and sorry for being a douche.. im just too caught up with everyday life and temper runs a little too short these days i think..

but on another note, someone had mentioned earlier in this thread i think, about the idea of something the fallout community could do to try to sway bethesdas ideas and ways on fallout production

dunno if any of you have watched jericho at all, but when it was canceled after the first season the fan community came together and orchestrated some sort of movement and ended up sending in about 150,000 pounds or tons or peanuts, with the word "NUTS" to cbs headquarters.. i cant remember the full scoop on what happened, but jericho returned with 7 new episodes into season 2

why not show our commitment for the game and orchestrate our own movement, sending into bethesda a bunch printouts of fallout1&2 covers or something, flooding their mail and hopefully they will realize they should stick to the roots instead of twisting it all around..

of course its a long shot because bethesda are strait out ignorant and are already far into production but there are still many elements that could be changed

but hey, they bought the name and are down for making shitty games because thats what they do.

if only it was as easy as sending in a shitload fallout art covers...

Every screenshot i see i get more and more sure that i will not enjoy this more then halo. That is not good. Halo could only be compared to wall-watching experience. For me anyway.

Smells propaganda all the way. AKA Hype.

Why is it all the beth apologists whenever they're suggesting how we deal with FO3 it's always some variation of
"You should wait and give the game a try!"

    No, fuck all of you.
I'm not going to buy this game and REWARD these people for making shit, ESPECIALLY if I don't know how well the game is made.
Worst of all is people who are like "I'm dissatisfied with it, but I'll still buy it the day it comes out"
FFS, have some backbone to stand up for something you believe in.

And yes, BN, people who disagree with the party line at bethsoft forums are routinely having their posts edited, deleted, and removed, while people with pro beth viewpoints are left to run free for the exact same offenses. This is something I've even tested, recorded, and shown to company representatives, but of course it did no good.
    anyway, </rant>

You know I think I just don't care about the rantings of the "hardcore" anymore. I am pretty excited to play Fallout 3. And all 50 of you "hardcore" fans, be my guest and don't buy it.

The only reason I started posting here is because I felt that maybe a little sanity would be good for these boards. I wish the other positive longtime Fallout fans the best of luck. But I think after years of coming here for my fallout news (often almost every day when a fallout game was in developent in one form or another), I'm going to look for somewhere else to get my news. It's sad a community that is built around the love for a game can become so bitter. Before you respond about the "rape" or this or the "bastardization" of that, hope some of you take a minute to ask yourselves three things. "Am I being critical just for the sake of being critical?", "Am I complaining mostly so I fit in?", "If Fallout 3 in it's current form were being developed by the original developers, would I be quite as critical about the current state of the game?"

I don't honestly expect any rational discussion on this and I understand the irony that I am complaining about complaining. But I hope at least some of you think about it. Later...

    No.

"Since we're all here we could as well sing to the same song" ? Is that it ?

I'm afraid you're mistaking cause for effect.

I don't know about the others but I was relieved to find places like NMA and RPG Codex where other people have the same opinion about Fallout and Bethesda's current project as I do.

Really, all it takes is a deep appreciation of the original Fallout and a healthy dose of critical thinking. The fact that many people come to similar conclusion is simply a result of those factors, and it is only natural that they'd be drawn to a place with others who share their viewpoint.

Again, you're mistaking cause for effect. We're not upset with Bethesda, and by extension, with Fallout 3. We're upset with what we see in Fallout 3, and by extension, with Bethesda.

So to answer your question - fuck yeah I would be critical.

There are no rational discussions with people like you because they (and you) always have a Jesus attitude and are seriously thinking "these people are insane and my differing opinion = sanity", and when they give up trying to "bring sanity" they leave with words "man i was tryin' to be smart and stuff but i'm just so smart no one understands me 'n' I'm too smart and sane for this "disscusion" shit, toodles"

You left, but I hope at least some of you think about it. Later.

We are good enough at keeping the Fallout torch. Bethesda raping Fallout isn't necessary.

People who come here without expecting a rational discussion usually fail miserably when inevitably the unexpected comes.

If you honestly think that your opinion equals sanity, while those critical of the game are insane, then you came here with a stupid idea and a poor attitude.
Why? You're suggesting people should be happy with whatever crap is flung our way by Bethesda just because they purchased the Fallout label and slapped it on their product? That's really the rational stance? Note, I didn't say anything about it being irrational to like how the game looks. It may be poor taste - very poor taste - in my opinion, but hey -- that's my opinion.

Oh, and granted, many are predisposed to dislike Bethesda because of the absolute pile of crap that was Oblivion (note that I bought Oblivion and played a lot of it, because I was expecting something good after the promise that Morrowind had and was hoping for improvement on its faults... I was just horridly disappointed when they threw out everything that was good and added absolutely nothing of value... the game was badly designed in most every way possible, really). But I, and I believe most others, do not just automatically hate Fallout 3 because Bethesda is doing it. We dislike what we've seen of what Bethesda has done to it... pulled a repeat, really. Thrown out a lot (if not all) of the good, and added pretty much nothing of value. Though BN did say the Protectron robots are well designed, and I'm inclined to take his word on that.
Who is "you?" NMA is not a single entity, it's a collection of posters all with different ideas. You'll notice that the news posts are generally do not contain any bashing, other than occasionally pointing out something of interest, such as the continued absence of the "Have you played Fallout?" question in the Beth blog interviews. Everything after is the opinion of the poster who posts it. You should consider ceasing your attempts to counter the "official position" of NMA, since no such thing exists. Responding to specific posters would be far more effective argumentation. Of course, you might want to consider bringing an argument that hasn't been put forth and refuted innumerable times (especially the straw-man arguments of "you just want a carbon-copy of the originals" and "nothing could ever make any of you happy," as well as the oh-so-popular "wait and see, you can't judge until the game actually comes out, no matter what info is available.")
As far as I'm concerned: no, no, and definitely not, respectively. Fallout: PoS was developed by Interplay, and you won't find anyone saying it's great because it was made by the same company... though of course the people who made PoS aren't the same as the ones who made the originals, for the most part. If the actual, original devs were working on the game, I can say with some certainty it would look nothing like what Bethesda is doing, so it's a totally moot and worthless question. Before you bring up a meaningless "yeah but what IF" question, try reading the NMA article on the development of the original Fallout. That's how I know.
If you come not expecting rational discussion, then inevitably you won't attempt to facilitate it, and so you bring about irrational discussion by your own volition. I ask you a variation of your own questions: are you flinging the usual "NMA is a site full of rabid, irrational, hate-filled mongrels" tripe just for the sake of "fitting in," because it's what you've heard around the inter-web and you took it to heart, or possibly because you can't handle having a different opinion than a fair majority of the posters and choose to lash out when your arguments fail to make any headway?
    Bye.

My apologies for the veritable troll buffet.

Plasma rifles are sci-fi. Exploding cars are idiotic. Exploding nuclear cars are a monument to idiocy.

    See the difference?

Of course, because there is absolutely no way that we are critical because, you know... the game deserves to be criticized. No, no... Bethesda is teh rockzorz!!11 They are above criticism!
There is one thing you should ask yourself too, however: "Do I really think this is a Fallout game or am I a consumerist whore who'll buy and enjoy everything with the name Fallout stuck on it?"

What about making some rational arguments and then maybe you can expect a rational discussion?

But you know what... don't do it. Just go on trolling and posting stupid crap. The irony is even greater when morons come to preach to "morons".

A better man than I once said:

The only difference between a fool and an idiot is that a fool does it on purpose.

To say 'Try it, even though it looks like pure rubbish, smells like pure rubbish, and moderately tastes like rubbish, it could still be good!' is a fool's gambit any which way you look at it.

As for being a sheep (sorry theSHEEP) I resent that remark wholeheartedly, if you had any idea how much of an ass I was throughout school simply because I had my own idea of how things should be done and I refused to go along with anyone else, my father puts it as I was 'Stubborn beyond any measure he'd ever seen' with my actions.

To say I'm just a crowd fluffer, you sir either don't know enough about me to say that with any legitimacy, or are simply spouting bullocks to make yourself feel better.

    Sorry for feeding the troll.
