New Vegas Classic Pack Pre-Order Bonus

So now we finally get the same nonsense of Mass Effect 2 and similar games for Fallout.
"Buy Fallout New Vegas at X Games and get a special hat!"

How about this offer

"Quit with this console bullshit and get your dignity back."

So, when does the "classic" kick in?

I really don't understand the point of in-game pre-order bonuses. Maybe for multi-player games, but single player, I don't know. If they really want to entice me to pre-order something, I'd rather have physical collectibles, you know, real world stuff. But that's just me.

Who cares? It's clothing. Don't act so melodramatic, Dutch.

Not meant like that OakTable, but I find this such incredible bullshit, getting special hats and suits and so on.

And this is mostly because of special effects now associated them.

Haha, image if you could pull the same off with real life items.

This is the official bladibla shoes, they automatically make you run faster when you wear them.

agreed. in mmo's it's different, there such items might give you a headstart and other players will notice how awesome you are for having pre-ordered the game. but in a single-player game you can only show off to yourself, and most of them or easy enough without needing some kind of bonus items to make them even easier.

Maybe a multiplayer option will come as a surprise with the pre-order.

I can see it now. Inspired by FEAR 3, you play as Pariah dog. In this doggy eat dog world you must combine forces with *CHARNAME* to survive and go places *CHARNAME* cant go. Experience Vegas story from black and white view relay on your smell receptors and drink from toilet to survive.

Most preorder bonuses are rather pointless.

There are a couple that are pretty cool, but thinking back on it, all of my favorites were physical objects.

I still wear my rooster hat from Scribblenauts.

Classic Pack? are you f*cking kidding me that's funny.

Yea I will pass on the stimpacks and the 10mm pistol, No thanks.

Pre-Order Bonus? I get why people would like bonus stuff, but this is just junk. Vault Suit? 10-mm handgun? Stimpacks? Didn't we see enough of those in Fallout 3? How about something truly unique? I'd be a lot more tempted by something crazy like a fez,a Russian winter hat, a pair of aviator goggles and a Classic Pip-boy 2000.
But maybe that's just me.

well I remember some games (yeah I am that old ...) where you would get aditional content sometimes WITHOUT any preorder, DLC give-us-your-soul demands. You would get maps, soundtracks (rarely, but happend), sometimes even tin figures with your box. Today many times you get them with special editions or limited editions of games though. But makes sense here. You hvae to get something for the extra 30 euro you give them.

My friend said the guy in the picture looked like an action figure.

And yes, it's not classic unless it's a tight-fitting jumpsuit. :? Though it now seems Bethesda has retconned old Vault suits for their version.

IMO, that would have actually been worth the extra bucks, a vaultdweller action figure.

Including some extra bytes as a pre-order gift is pure win for the publisher. Realistically speaking, it doesn't cost them a thing, yet it costs you 20 to 30 euros extra. I get the trend, I get the money-greedy antics of game publishers, but what I do not get is how the customers put up with this (and it's been going on for quite some time now, iirc). Just don't buy into these fake hypes. Seriously. These games do not even have the potential to become classics anymore. They just don't. It's fastfood entertainment. Made to satisfy an urge that they created for you. Buy it, play it, complain about it, forget about it and look out for the next hype, preferably the expensive pre-order copy.

The Alan Wake special edition, for instance. Contains the game, contains the soundtrack, contains some extra "the making of" crapola and a full colour book delving into the Alan Wake mythology. Say what? I thought we were talking about a game here, something to play on the pc or another contraption, yet 75% of the package is not a game. Huh? To me that doesn't make sense, and it shouldn't make sense to gamers in general. In the past it used to be like this: something gets released, something becomes popular? Well, then and only then do we expand on it.

So I've got an idea. I'm gonna make a game too. One level, five minutes of gameplay, but you know what? I'll add a 200 page novel detailing how I made the game (with lots of pictures) and how I failed at completing it. And if you pay an extra 20 bucks, you get three cans of Heinz tomato beans to go with that.

Anyone interested?

Well, we're going with the PS3 discrimination again! Not that it matters with bonuses like this, but don't know about the future things like DLC and some updates.

We still get that in Poland, e.g. the original edition of The Witcher.

Zero interest. I hope this is just a bonus and they're not somehow incorporating Vault 13 into the plot..

They should make an *actual* Vault 13 flask, though.

Too bad that physical stuff in Limited Editions is a thing of the past, I'd really like a Vault 13 hip flask. :(
