NFL 2010

In Tice's defense, he led us to a 9-7 record with Brad Johnson as our quarterback and the Love Boat scandal leaving the team in shambles.

Regardless, he really should have never been made head coach, he clearly wasn't ready. He had never even been an O/D coordinator.

Right, but Chilly is just incompetent, I don't really question his ethics though. Tice was incompetent and scalped tickets, that's a depth Chilly wouldn't plumb methinks. Tice still isn't a coordinator either?

My expectations have totally done a 180 for the Patriots from Week 1. No way I saw them leading the league, with wins over playoff teams like Chargers, Vikes, Cincy and the dreaded Ravens. Still have Steelers, Colts, Packers and Jets left. Belichik teams usually are solid in Nov and Dec, especially when the weather turns to shit. Should be some good games.

Glad to see baseball and elections go away. Although I do have to applaud Lincecum for repairing the damage that Moss did to the image of the stoner athlete this week. Fuck yeah Timmy.

Tice is with the Bears, O-line. Not for long, I'd guess.

Uhhh

Yes, all of them are reigning division champs. It's hard to beat 2010 playoff teams when you don't know who they are yet.

Well it's pretty obvious those teams aren't going to be them.

Apparently, Moss didn't win himself any favors when he insulted the catering last Friday. Even Favre rolled his eyes.
Oh yeah, that's a total non-story. Moss is an asshole! Oh no, really? This is news, people?

Also, anyone who believes that's why he was a cut is a retard.

I didn't say that's why he was cut, the reason he was cut is because Childress would rather lose on his own terms than win.

I just thought it was funny.

I wouldn't say that about the Chargers, they do this every year and then rip off an 8-10 game win streak. Even still they've won that division in Week 17 with a .500 record. They are too talented on both sides to lose out over 16 games to the likes of the Chiefs and Raiders. They move the ball, they score, they have a ferocious D, they just have no urgency about it. Not to say they won't choke at home when they do get to the playoffs though...

I wouldn't bury the Vikings just yet either. NFC is a mess.

So, anyone still wondering why the Eagles traded McNabb within the division? Suddenly Philly emerges as a more of a nurturing, accommodating place than the apologists portrayed it to be.

And I'm all for Rex Grossman. He never disappoints me. Watching him is better than the 3 Stooges.
If you're going to lose, and lose badly. Why not make people laugh too? Thank you Rex.

the McNabb thing is getting pretty funny here, and Shanny and son are just digging deeper and deeper. They are still 2-0 in the division and after the bye play philadelphia. 3-0 in the division would be nice, because the wild cards probably will be out of the NFC south

We're not exactly in W1-2 range here, Cimms, halfway through the NFL season there's really no good reason to judge teams by their performance last year anymore, and you know this.

They're not "playoff teams", they're 3 sub-.500 teams. Heck, they're 3 sub-.400 teams.

Pain the rectum that is. NFC South was handed the easiest schedule of the NFL, and they're probably the second-worst division after the NFC West (who they're all playing). 3 playoff teams from that division is just embarrassing.

Though it makes for good odds one of them surprises this year.

Normally I'd agree with you, but I think the Chiefs are a better team than the Chargers right now. That team has taken a huge step forward, and that'll mess up the Chargers.

Besides, this year the Chargers problem are slightly different than usual. It isn't just a slow start, it's ridiculously horrendous Special Teams play.

The NFC isn't all that competitive, but the Vikings are way beyond done.

Let's go Bucs!

I still can't believe a playoff spot is looking fairly likely now.

well the schedules are all pre arranged years in advance, minus the two conference games you play in the other division your division doesn't play. But there will be at least 2 probable 9-7 playoff teams in the NFC.

Yeah, I have to agree at this point. If you look at their schedule, I just don't see where the wins are going to come from. It's a storybook season for the Vikings, if that story is The Shining. REDRUM!

Maybe if Sidney Rice comes back strong... :P

Jawalrus supposedly weighed in at 285 lbs. for his Redskins workout. Clearly he's been staying sharp since he got cut by the Raiders.

I'm hoping Dallas lays down again this weekend in Green Bay. It should be somewhat cold and unpleasant. With any luck they'll be mentally finalizing their off-season vacation plans and thinking about banging Kim Kardashian.

So Randy off to Titans.
Hope you have a long term contract waiting and a QB who will feed him the ball. Otherwise, he has this habit of making his displeasure known...

Not to put too fine a point on it, but by the same token, the only sure thing we do know is that 4 division winners and the next best 2 will make the playoffs. So who's better now in Week 8 is irrelevant. Does anybody really care that the '07 Patriots were better than the Giants for 18 weeks?

They are the best team according to some.

Yeah, like throwing balls through plywood and chucking it 60 yards standing on his knees.

thinking about banging Kim Kardashian.
I don't know that I can fault them for that.

Apparently, Randy wouldn't even report if he were picked up by a team he didn't like. I guess some got enough info to know he wouldn't like it there (Rams, perhaps? Seahawks?) and passed.

Titans? Superbowl baby.

Uh, irrelevant to what? If I want to guesstimate how good the teams are that my team has beat, then in W8 I'd sooner use current record than whether or not they were in the playoffs last year. As irrelevant as current record might be, it doesn't even remotely beat last year's record for irrelevance.

C'mon man. Seriously?

It's all about the second season baby.
Nobody cares if you lead your division for 16 weeks, if you ain't #1 at the end of week 17, it's all for naught.

Again, the NFL is great because we don't have to have a fucking series of polls every week to determine who #1-25 are. When it only matters who's #1 at the end anyway.

In the NFL a W is a W and a L is a L - it doesn't matter how good or how bad the other team was or the point differential. Discussions about SOS and margin of victory are academic, and I'm not all that interested in typing that much to be honest. Hence me using the term "playoff team" instead of typing a much longer and more accurate description of the merits and weaknesses of said teams.
Brevity, it's a good thing, my apologies for any confusion.

Then I would've had to mention Buffalo too. Dude, I'm trying to be circumspect about my team's position in the league right now, I guess I'll just go back to wanton gloat mode.
The Evil Empire is back mofos.

Anyway, I think we're going to get Charlie Whitehurst sighting this week. Poor Hass is gonna get creamed this week.
