NFL 2010

I watched the first half of the game (gotta get up for work at 545, can't survive too late into the night), and I know nothing about who is who in commentating. But the NFL Network guys were sleep inducing. It was so quiet and their voices were so dull, it was impossible to even pay attention to them.

I never really remember who's up in the booth either except for MNF because they and everyone else makes such a big deal out of it. I don't expect much insight-wise from commentators which means I'm usually ok, except when they get really annoying.

I usually don't sweat it either, but I despise Theisman. Only he could kill off all the goodwill he received from one of the most publicized, gruesome injuries in NFL history.

You mean the 3 hour pregame show where they give 20 people face time? Who says they are too close to athletes, and too protective of the licensing deals they have with their broadcasters? Hey, at least they're no letting themselves be used as a pulpit for self-important athletes to indulge their delusional fantasies.
That fucking Stuart Scott grates on me worse than Theisman, who's a bigger jocksniffer than him? Is that story about his lazy eye for real? that's the ultimate poetic justice if it is.

In case I haven't been pigeonholed as a total curmudgeonly old man: ESPN wouldn't bother me if there was an alternative. Simps, don't know if you read the Courant, but their Sunday NFL coverage is now one side of a page, and all of it is syndicated, mostly from LA Times? WTF. They used to have Patriots and Giants beat writers and great local angles, weekly spotlights on specifics players. And Mon-Sat it's like a quarter of a page worth of shit that Florio reported on yesterday.
I like newspapers, but is it any wonder why it's a dying media?

Not looking good in Patriots land... Steelers followed by Colts, if they can't beat two teams like that in succession, forget about the playoffs, that's exactly who you'll have to play. Steelers could light them up something fierce, although Pats have a sick record at Heinz (especially good in AFCC games :P). I think it will be ugly, can't see little Danny Woodhead getting through that nasty front. The rookies are going to hit the wall soon, these kids have never played longer than 12 game seasons. :gulp:

I think the Patriots best hope is to receive a lot of devastating hit calls. Coulda used one here:

After the Kornheiser debacle, I can tolerate almost anyone.

From your post to Zeus-Ammon's ears.

Speaking of tough schedules...

Green Bay:

Week 11
@ Minnesota
12
@ Atlanta
13
San Francisco
14
@ Detroit
15
@ New England
16
New York Giants
17
Chicago Bears

Probably need four more wins, including beating the Bears, to get into the playoffs. They should beat the Niners in GB, and Detroit although the Lions always play vastly better at home. The Vikings might be sucking it up, but they're not going to roll over and die for Packer week.

Those last two games should be nice and frosty.

Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker reminded me what good commentating is like.

Good win Pats. No doubt you gained many Seattle-hearts for all of this season, hurray!

I never shared much in the hatred of Pittsburgh.

Yeah, I don't really hate Pittsburg, I respect them (easy to say when Brady is like 6-1 and 2-0 in AFCC games there!), they are a solid organization, draft really well, and play smash-mouth ball, love Pats/Steelers games. Good stuff. So cool to see Brady and Branch with Farrior and Foote opposite them, in light of the sick playoff games those old-timers have had. I'm really shocked the way the Patriots bullied them around, I thought for sure it would be the other way around. Helps to have all those injuries.

Now the Colts, them I fucking hate. Get them at home now. Hope we get dumped on with a couple feet of snow. Soft-ass domer homos. They are too beat up this year. I hope the Patriots tear them a new one.

Jet/Pats II going to be epic.
Patriots/Packers too. Playoff implications finally starting to come into play.

Tecmo lives on...Got the new DS version recently - same game but not much fun w/o the NFLPA license.

Oh yeah, the Patriots just love getting into physical, smash-mouth football games, don't they?

Right?<blockquote>"We don't care how long your hair is, we're not going to let you do what you want to our quarterback," Mankins said.

Brady wasn't the only one on the receiving end of what left tackle Matt Light felt were unnecessary blows.

"There was a lot of extra sugar being tossed out around there, late in these plays," Light said. "The guy would be down on the ground and you'd see unnecessary stuff happening, like they're torquing his head when the play is clearly over. Those are the kind of things that get you fired up."</blockquote>

Standard current Greatriots really.

If I was as out of position as Polamalu was all night I'd be taking cheap shots too. That was the only relevant thing he did all game. In all the freelancing last night did he guess right once? He must've had his mind on other things like shooting shampoo commercials.

I love that gif from the Ravens game, but I can't see the score, can you jog my memory there?

Anyway, what's the deal with you and Brady? Are you related to Dick LeBeau and really embarrassed or what?

Standard current Greatriots really.
I don't even know what that's supposed to mean.

Man I love Tom Brady. I spend many a wistful night imagining us sitting on the beach, with nothing on but the radio, as I run my fingers through his hair...

Brah, I'm just trying to subtly point out how the Patriots identity has been functionally identical to that of - say - the Colts for a few years now. It's awwwright if you don't want to recognize that tho BRAAAAH.

Yea, wicked pissah and all that.
You might've had a point a few years ago, but in '07 they out-Colted the Colts. Post-Moss Pats are back to their old ways of taking what's given instead of airing it out. Colts are a very specifically built team. Patriots are back to week-to-week specific gameplanning.

Legarrette Blount is awesome.
That GIF doesn't even do it justice, that move was straight out of a Kung-Fu movie.

I'm glad the kid got a shot in the Pros, but goddamn if I wouldn't antagonize him something fierce. Doesn't take much to provoke him.

edit:
ESPN’s Michael Smith reports that the Redskins have signed McNabb to a five-year, $78 million extension with a reported $40 million guaranteed.
Dan Snyder makes me wish I had become an agent.

Well I can save you the trouble: this game was over after 5 minutes.

Holy assrape batman.

EDIT: And now the Redskins score two consecutive TDs on long plays. What is with this game?

EDIT2: Hah, Andy Reid. Yeah good idea to keep your injury-prone QB in late in a total blowout. Dumbass.

That game was ridiculous, but it's not like Vick got hurt.

Eagles Vs. G-men should be nice. Indy/NE too:
http://coldhardfootballfacts.com/Ar...ts-Steelers:_can't_you_smell_that_smell?.html
The winner of the New England-Indy season series has gained homefield advantage and gone on to win the AFC title in six of the past nine season. The Steelers have captured the AFC title in two of those other three years.
Wow, how's that parity thing working out?
Despite the top-level dominance of two or three teams (depends if you count the Colts) over the past decade, parity has worked out just fine. There have been 5 first-time Super Bowl winners over the past decade(Rams, Ravens, Patriots, Bucs, Saints) and 4 more teams that made the Super Bowl for the first time (Panthers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Titans).

In fact, the lack of parity is mostly on the AFC.
