NFL 2011

I saw the last quarter and a half. I haven't watched the Pats too much lately, but Brady looked a lot stiffer than I remember. It was almost painful when he rolled out to avoid the blitz.

You know your team is doomed when they use the "let the other team score" strategy at the end of the game. I remember when the Packers tried that against Denver.

Now we can talk about Giselle for the rest of the off season.

Steelers won it that year. Moot point anyway, no way the Pats make a playoff run with Cassell that year anyway.

Pretty good year for the Pats despite last night. I think they overreached their talent level. Really need to pick up a legit wideout and safety this offseason.
How about an actual secondary.

Well, completely new here..to be honest, I don't follow sports strongly. But I rooted for the Giants..one thing, there was hardly a run in that game. There would be a play, four seconds later, interception or out of bounds..stop and go man, stop and go.

Says the Bucs fan, what was your team doing last night?

Arrington led the league in INTs, Chung is a banger. I don't think they'd be any better off with Merriweather, and Bodden was done anyway. They have no safety and McCourty redefined sophomore slump. Dude if shutdown corners grew on trees everyone would have them, no?

They did better than my prediction of Eli having 300+.

Being terrible. Duh. Didn't you watch football this season?

And this means they don't need to go get a secondary how, exactly?

Decent enough Superbowl. Very good and close near the end but mostly it was kind of mediocre football. Doesn't love up to the recent ones but we've had worse.

Anyway. This is just such a perfect microcosm of Boston sports fandom. I don't know quite how to describe. A kind of bloated sense of entitlement that hinges on mind-blowing depth of ignorance? Maybe?

PS: Troll Brady was genius, though.

You're not supposed to answer rhetorical questions, and thankfully the networks have the good taste not to show irrelevant, heartless teams to the national market, sometimes they even spare the locals I hear.

Yeah OK hardo, they didn't lose last night because of their secondary, and they are a pretty consistent team over the last 11 years. There's this thing called the salary cap that kind of prevents a team from being stacked at every position. There's this other thing called the draft coming up where they have 2 firsts and 2 seconds again. I love how a Bucs fan is going to tell me the sky is falling. 30 other teams were sitting at home last night wishing they were in the hunt last night and already had 3 in the trophy case in this era.
Have you ever even seen the Bucs win a playoff game?

Not anymore. With expanded TNF the plan is for every NFL franchise to get at least one nationally televised game. No matter how sucky.

Wha wha wha wha, secondary still sucks sheep tits. You don't need an all-star secondary, but a barely competent one would, y'know, help.

Also, Bucs had two nationally televised games this year (plus a few more outside prime time), so you did see them. Sucks for you. Sucks worse for me, because I saw every minute of it.

Are these new thursday night games going to be on thursday or saturday night?

Thursday. NFL can't broadcast on Saturday nights for most of the season because they're not allowed to broadcast during college games.

Oh, the shrill crying thing, quaint. Don't fret bud, Pats will be in the playoffs again next year and Giants will be .500.
Over/under on Bucs wins? 3.5.

This cat made bank last night:

That's actually shitty odds for a lead-off NYG safety.

I'm sure they will be. I'm also pretty sure they won't win a Super Bowl as long as Belichick keeps up his yearly tradition of decreasing the talent on defense.

At least the Bucs won a Super Bowl without, y'know, cheating.

Last time the Giants won the Superbowl they ended the next regular season as the #1 seed, only to be embarrassed by the Eagles. They should feel free to repeat that, to our general amusement.

don't you worry about it -- belichick will draft us a couple db's.
same as every year.

Yeah because it's easy to replace HOFers when you're picking at the ass end of the 1st round every year. Still waiting for that Bucs D to bounce back from a decade ago! Shit, they haven't replaced Sapp, Lynch, Brooks, Rice yet? Patriots last 3 drafts (since Pioli left) were very good - look 'em up. You saw half of them play in the Super Bowl last night.

Yes, the Patriots deciphered everyone's signals (the ones that everyone change throughout the course of the game and use decoys to convey), matched the signals up in-game with the play call, beamed that play call down to Brady or the defense, who then knew exactly what the other team was going to run, and then called and executed perfect counter plays - all within 30 seconds. They got caught filming one Jets game in 2007, but that's precisely why they won 3 SBs and haven't won any since.
Belichik has Obama's Kenyan birth certificate too.

Is this wrong?

And that defense still sucks, and gets worse every year. Julian Edelman is regularly playing cornerback.

Bitter much? They got caught cheating. Fact.

Pats lost, I'm happy. Now I can find out if the local university is going to pick up the Giants' LB coach for defensive coordinator next year.

Good enough to get them to the SB and was the only thing that kept them in the game. 30 other teams would give their left nut to be there.

How are the Bucs doing? Get turned down by any HS coaches lately?

You don't seem to understand how this pecking order thing works. If you're a Giants fan, I'd willingly take grief from you and have been.
Bucs fans? You don't rate, sorry.

Bitter much?
Sounds like you may be - what do Patriots fans have to be bitter about? Nobody has won more SBs, conference championships, division championships and regular and post season games than the Patriots in the last 11 years, have they? That's an unprecedented run of excellence.

"puh-puh-please Mr. Brady can we line up now?"
:D

*yawn* Deflection is so cheap.

Fact is, the Pats defense sucks donkey balls, and is getting worse every year. It's that you have such a ridiculous offense, otherwise you'd be bottom dwellers too.

Because you're cheaters. Oh, and because you happen to have a really good quarterback.
